You are right I need to be careful how I word / phrase what I am saying cause it can be easily misunderstood though not a 100% sure how to phrase it.

In practical sense I guess it is safe to say I am placing some blame on the bystanders and victims while I am not saying it is okay such things happened or people had to work through or in such an environment. What I am saying is unfortunately they are part of the reason this behavior was normalize and continued for so long. I understand the nature of being in a job where you are expandable and how speaking out or against alienates you and has the potential to stagnate ones career path.

What I am saying is many here have stated the OP should accept the consequences of their actions myself included though it also got me thinking should the same be said but on the other foot should adults also accept the consequences of their inaction? Overall I accept the backlash that I may get but I hope those that do see this do not think I am trying to marginalize what people have gone through or what they had to endure but what I am saying the failures of the past on many fronts brought this poison culture within many industries.

I didn't expect to be included on any screenshots that were taken, but yea this guy was shouting in Limsa on Siren the other night multiple times, this absolutely happened.

This, if anything could be considered to be, is the 'WoW effect:' people constantly trying to push an envelope of obscenity. I have no comment on the ban length, but I'm sure as heck glad it happened.

It doesn't matter that it was a first offense. That you even call it a first offense indicates you intend to keep doing it.

Twenty days is so you understand they're not joking around. People who like to push at boundaries to see what they can get away with don't learn the lesson when they're only banned for a couple of days. SE goes straight to the harder penalties to stop such behavior in its tracks. They don't want their time wasted dealing with childish games.

You're presumably a responsible adult who knows right from wrong. You agreed to the Terms of Service. Abide by those terms. If you don't, likely the next ban will be permanent.

We live in a society where some people think trolling to the point that others would question your humanity is okay. "It's just a game." or " This is internet" don't excuse any of your awful behavior. I'm more than sure he got banned for what he said in the chat https://imgur.com/a/fELOCu8 not for having some interesting FC and retainers names.

It's just sad to see when people find doing something like this "entertaining". It's just sad to see how some people chose to be ignorant and suggested "Ah just blacklist them."
Blacklisting them won't stop them going around saying the same things just to offend people.

We don't need this kind of behavior in this community. You don't need to troll to feel good about yourself. You don't need troll to entertain yourself.
There are so many things you can do to improve yourself to at least become a decent human being. Quit trying so hard to be an edgy cool kid who trolls.

Maybe I'm just being emotional but recently I've met many people with questionable behavior. I just hope that they aren't like how they act ingame/online, in real life.

I might as well piggyback on this thread and try and make something constructive out of it, so... Real Question: How should one report something like this? Just yesterday I saw somebody copy-pasted a long, multi-part rant shouted out to the whole map, that was incredibly vulgar. I won't say what it was about, but it was graphic in detail and just about the most "NSFW" text I've ever seen from a player so far in this game. They weren't even talking to anyone, it was just random spam they posted to the map for shock value. It was clearly a macro they set up ahead of time and probably used before, and planned to again.

I right-click on their name, and all I get is "report RMT." I went into the Help/Support stuff, and the closest I could find was "Report Harassment" with a message I should select that if I had been harassed. Well, that's not accurate, so I don't want to submit a false report. Should I have just used that option anyway, or is there somewhere else I should be reporting this kind of thing?

I don't typically get uppity about profanity, in fact I turn my profanity filters off and don't really care what people say. But this one instance was so beyond the pale, it was like "If anything should be reported, this is it."

Irony in this post is size of a continent. Thank u for gcbtw meme material.

Some people are weak in their minds much like the OP. It's all they have in life which says how pitiful that exsistance really is. I am sure they run back to this thread every 10 minutes or so with a gleeful smile and slavering grin to see how many people they have caused to reply. But the saving grace is this 'what goes round comes around' OP will learn.

This honestly looks like a testing to see how far you can get away when trying to be as offensive as possible, since i refuse to believe you were as delusional as to think that (in Asmongold words) if you shit on the floor at your workplace and then they immediately fire you they're being dictatorial and unfair because no rule told you you couldn't do it.

Good. Im glad they started cracking down on that. Personally I am sick of seeing discriminatory, sexist, hateful words being used as names for anyone. Depending on how repulsive the name, I have reported a few myself and will continue to do so. We as a community should not have to tolerate this. Especially given the events of the day, we should be striving for better!

Since this topic seems to have run its course, I suggest everyone use the tools on these forums (ignore and report) and enjoy the game.

Just report this guy and move on. Well, anything that's considered offensive by reasonable standards. He's said plenty of offensive things since making this thread in and out of the game it seems.

OP is an angry human being, displaying antisocial behavior. If it manifests itself in this way in video games, and on discussion boards, it's a matter of time before it starts manifesting itself in real life, if it already hasn't.

Looking at it from an objective point of view, OP needs mental health help. For a human living in our society to think it is OK to publicly declare their support for rape and white supremacy, is sick.

I don't know if we have the means to help people who act this way; this goes beyond depression and anxiety and other common mental health problems. There is hate present here, and for hate to be present and that apparent is quite indicative of someone in pain, or angst, that needs help.

If we do have the means, I hope OP gets the help they need. If they continue like this, it's only going to be to a terrible end.

My guess is that the severity of the punishment has more to do with the player's tone than the actual offense. It could have been a slap on the wrist, but he dug in and fought instead of apologizing.

I would not go that far. Like, sure he is a troll, but this forum community is very much easily trolled. So he is just doing what is fun for him. Online is a pretty good stress relief ticking people off by being dumb or whatever. People like this, are normal in mmorpg community. So I don't really think too deeply on him being anti social and all that. He just enjoys irking people online, because to him it is not that big of a deal.

Well, I think it's saying something when even the regular trollers on these forums don't cross the lines the OP has. To their credit, they clearly possess something resembling a moral compass.

I have to disagree; someone taking pleasure out of antisocial behavior isn't just "trolling". This goes beyond your average troll. This is a person who spends a significant amount of time trying to generate ire in the people around him. The ire is a fuel, for more antisocial behavior.

Normal, relatively-well-adjusted humans don't sit down at their computers for the sole purpose of shocking people, to this extent. If your child, spouse or family member were behaving like this, you wouldn't just chalk it up to trolling. At least I seriously hope you wouldn't.

One day, pissing people off online might just not feed the urge.

This isn't healthy behavior... like, objectively, it isn't healthy. I cannot imagine a therapist looking at the types of things OP has said, and just responding with, "don't worry, it's just trolling." There's a pain at the center of this. It should be dealt with. OP might be a person suffering some kind of abuse; gaining pleasure (and thereby numbing their own pain) by making others feel bad.

I'm 46 and speaking from not only a lifetime of experience dealing with mental health issues, but thousands and thousands of hours communicating with other people "out there on the internet". I get trolling. I get, "yeah, well you're stupid!" I get Godwinning. This is beyond that.
