FFXIV mounts

And I'm not saying that Chocobo's shouldn't be better than the others.
The very fact that Gob is a limited time thing and Choco's can be decorated should attest to that.

Think of them more like a controllable variation on the Aht Urgan Ferry or the boats in Bibiki bay. You would use these mounts to explore a large special areas that serve as the initial gateway to new zones/dungeons/etc. (then tele using aetheryte after you've gotten there)

The mounts wouldn't be any more rare or difficult to obtain than your first couple Job quests, they just require some easy prerequisites and then talk to the rental NPC.

So the content they access is exclusive to the mount, but the mount is easy to obtain and cannot leave the area. In that way, they aren't mounts in the traditional sense, rather they are an integral part of the access and exploration of the zone in which they are rented from.

Our only universal mounts would be our choco breeds (and special Goobbue).

I would like to see different Color Chocobo's with each one having a special ability like in Final Fantasy Tactics. That would be great in my opinion.

A chocobo has always been the standard mount in Final Fantasy Games.

Given there are times you would ride in a train/boat/buggie/car. There would always be the traditional chocobo mount.

I think there should only be Chocobo mounts, i was very surprised to see Goobbue mounts, but whatever was nice 'thank you' gift. But thats all it is really, just a gift. Much like the seasonal event items, its basically worthless.

Come 2.0 we will be fighting alongside with our Chocobos, so I think they should be the only type of mount since you will most likely be upgrading or leveling it up, something of the nature.

If they would like to give us more mounts, I would like to request a stable to store unused mounts. I don't want my micro menu cluttered with more buttons for mounts I don't use.

I personally like the goob... for new players, its a free mount before they have enough seals for the chocobo. It's a tiny bit of variety and it provides laughs here and there.

Overall, I like the idea of chocobo breeding the most. How to go about it, I'm not sure. I suppose a level system in the chocobo and getting with friends to breed...or getting more chocobos per player would have to come into play. Kind of makes me think of FFVII.

If a chocobo breeder could become a DoH job and maybe Chocobo digging can be the mini game played for DoL we'd get something going.

I like the idea of the game designers, idk... deciding what goes in the game? maybe?!

On this subject though, it will be interesting to see if SE makes it so we can add the Gobbue mounts our fighting companions the same way they appear to be making our chocobos the same in 2.0. That would totally change my entire outlook on the Gobbue situation, and it would also make getting Drake mounts even sweeter.

Yes, it was more of a basic idea which I didn't think of details yet. Maybe more of a 'tamer' than a breeder? And like how we see carpenters saw and goldsmiths hammer away at the little ball of light, maybe it can be a little scene of our character holding said ball of light and waving it before the chocobo (kinda like playing with a dog). If the chocobo keeps paying attention, it's a "successful syth" while if it looks away, it's not.

Materials used could be different kind of greens and nuts. (taken from FFVII)

Rewards could be chocobo eggs and feathers (take that away from the gatherers?). I...dunno what else they can reward you with. Choco kisses? XP

Or make the materials ingots and whatnot, and maybe your chocobo can help you actually make items?

Not so much a monster... but if I can mount Tifa that would be great

I wouldn't mind chocobo breeding like ff7, ones with different colors and speed. Maybe add in racing later on ^^

They added chocobo breeding and racing in FFXI. You could get several different colors. However it was pretty boring and nobody does it now. Was probably the biggest waste of dev time ever.

Well, Chocobos as battle companions (taking on the FFXI role of NPC fellows), and as pack animals (portable storage) will making breeding and raising a very key part of this game.

But I agree, there really wasn't much of a point to the FFXI's breeding system unless you focused on racing -- which didn't really offer players anything useful for the rest of the game.

Why is there so much dislike for Goobbues? Nobody's forcing you to use them.

When the gobbue came out I thought it was a bit much, but don't mind it as much now since it's not exactly one of the most terrifying and powerful creatures in the FF universe. There are far better ideas for mounts, like magitek armor and the like out there.

none we do not need any more mounts period!!!!!

I want a Roegadyn mount.
That or a Marmot Squirrel.

Nothing else interests me.

The ironic thing is that all those against all these features like mounts, content finder, jump etc.... in 5 years you will all cherish them. In 10 years, when the next MMO is out you will all cry if they are not part of the game anymore and then go on and say it would have been better if it was FF XIV-2.

You're totally missing the main point, wich is suggestions for new mounts someday.
Most of us already know it will be up to the developers in the end.

Maybe mount-lovers get 1-2 new ones and mount-haters gets new areas where

about not having a shark, turtle or octopuss mount cuz it makes underwater travel hell of lot faster.

I don't get why people are complaining...not that big of a deal. if you see a goobbue run past you is that breaking your immersion into the game anymore than being in a city and seeing someone shout, "DUDE I JUST RIPPED THIS BONG SO HARD, LOLZ FREAKING NOOBS!"? I mean, what did you do the first time you saw another mount other than a chocobo, drake, wyvern, alien spacecraft, pirate ship...you freaked out because it was a goobbue? Did you immediately turn off your computer go over to your final fantasy collection and burn it all? were you ACTUALLY betrayed? smh. (first time I've ever used that :X)

I was in alpha/closed beta/beta/CE. I had no complaints at all about traveling, it would have been nice to see chocos during that time, but we all lived with out the mounts just fine. Infact more people played with no chocos than when we got the chocos(it was still free to play).

I also don't care what your level is.

Only pointless here seems to talk to people who complain about a few mounts.

I hope we dont get shit anymore, no MH, no AH, no new gear, no new areas, no new recipes...yes it should stay boring. Development should just stop just so all you whiners could shut the hell up.
