Really it's not the fault of people doing it, if something exists, people WILL do it. Look at what happened with Ishgard Restoration. If SE doesn't fix it, fair game.

The irony is people probably dont know that I dont doom boss mobs and typically just resort to using my insta cast aoe spells over missile. Simply because it better ensures I get decent credit.
You want to ask people if they could be a good sport and not insta kill mobs, feel free to ask. It would be polite to say sure and just use magic skills, but what must be understood is when you ask something of someone, they dont have to say yes and that doesnt make them a bad person. If you expect or require they say yes to a request, then its not a request, its a demand. And its one in service of yourself at cost to them.
So always feel free to ask that people dont use it, but dont get upset and demand the class be nerfed cause people decide to say no to your request. Theyre playing within the scope of the game using the skills provided in a contextually relevant environment.
A wild juicy appeared!
I think it's fine for people to ask for a nerf if it's messing with their enjoyment but I also don't think that nerf would be good for the very limited value blue mage already has. Also would be another item to make their reasons why they did what they did seem half followed through / not valid.
Or in other words if SE made one job deal 100% more damage than another due to some really terrible balance decisions it would be better for players to be yelling at SE and not the players choosing to use that imbalanced job, using an all black mage group to over power Garuda, and the players upset that their job is a joke because of this imbalance are well within their right to ask SE to do something about it. They are also allowed to be upset if players are doing something annoying buuuuuuut if the player is doing something well within the design of the game (like doom or missile is) then no right to actually demand they stop as much as "god you're annoying" lol. Again, talk to SE and address the frustration that way then as the players are doing as intended.
Intended today could be gone tomorrow, these things are not generally fixed in stone, even the things in stone are not technically always so.
So.. ye.. no? I agree people should ask politely, I view that the onus is on SE more than it is on players, and I also agree it's probably not the majority causing the majority of problems and like almost anything in life it's usually the minority of a subset causing majority issues, but I don't agree if you're suggesting players are not allowed to say "Hey SE, this is killing my fun- this job is damaging my experience".
Of course I also would say the job has limited value and this is part of that limited value, if you take away this then the job is even more of a joke (clearly not trying to hide my frustration with it lol), such that I think changing this part of the job should only be done either special occasion and temporarily or should come with a much larger overhaul all together (of course I'm pipe dreaming for the overhaul but being realistic by suggesting something temporary).
Edit: just to make sure when I was mentioning one person can ruin it for everyone I wasn't accusing you lol, not sure if you were responding generally back to me or not but just wanted to make sure when I said that I was speaking generally as well. :p
The outpouring of frankly insane toxicity I've been seeing in-game from the 'Anti-bluemage' camp has made it really hard for me to sympathize.
FWIW, it feels like they've increased the drop rate of the medals. I did fate running in HW the other day and got every medal for the 2 minions within an hour or two. The drop rate was definitely greater than 50%.
They've also greatly reduced the number of legendary medals per weapon. It used to increase with each turn-in, now it's a flat ten each.
That would work if the minions didnt require specific zones to drop medals. Most of those zones are ranging from lvl 5 fates to lvl 20 fates. But thats kinda problem with game not BLU. Lower level fate mobs die either with 2 hits or feel like they have 100k health and you do 100 per skill.
