Crazy Personal Headcanons

My G'raha related headcanon is that, after becoming renowned for being the Crystal Exarch who's set up a sanctuary in Lakeland, one of the most overheard things he got from new arrivals was "I thought he'd be taller." The children usually just said it straight to his face. He found it amusing. Eventually.

I think the same could be said for the Warrior of Darkness. Espeailly if they were Lalafells/Dwarves

I imagine that something like that would be too painful to live through again and again and be a distraction from his work, so I muse that the Ascians tailor made races that could not naturally accept ancient souls with their knowledge and ability to apply the Echo. Races like the Garleans and whatever the Allagans/Ronkans were. But that's just a potshot in the dark.

My newest one is the reason why Emet was so theatrical is because of his looking at his crystals of Hyth and Azem a lot more than he probably should have and remembering how much those two were goofballs made him behave that way due to doing so right before he goes to nap.

Whoever made Omega are also the ones who caused the final days.

Another headcanon borne of how certain names fit Lalafellin naming conventions :P

This time it is the Gagana. Once upon a time there was a caravan of merchants, including one Gagana Gana, this young lady would up separated by her peers and when they were looking for her they found nothing...but a strange feathered creature. They then jumped to the conclusion that Gagana was transformed into the beast and fled thinking the Fringes of Gyr Abania were cursed.

This tall tale spread through Eorzea leading a bunch of adventurers to explore the place where they found that that the feathered monster was one member of a species...and also found that Gagana was not transformed but barely surviving off the arid landscape. The tale has spread so far that the creatures thought to be her still bore her name. She wound up reuniting with the Caravan and then promptly gave them hell for abandoning her thinking that she was transformed into a flamingo and mythologizing that to the point where she now shares her name with an animal.

Ironically she would eventually return to the Fringes to study them due to never shaking the association. and further exploration of Gyr Abania would eventually lead to Ala Mhigo's development.

One I've had for awhile is that Middy and Emet in a different life would be friends. Based off the fact they both enjoy maps, and help/test the WoL in their own way.

My crazy headcanon is that the minions of NPCs have a linkshell in them so that you can chat with them while they walk with you. That way I can keep in touch with Aymeric so far after HW ;A;

Lily and Feo-Ul fight over the WoL's attention/affection constantly, with their fights often resulting in the WoL being temporarily cursed.

Minfilia in Ryne's head before the Ahm Araeng scene speaks to her like Nail and Kami from DBZ Abridged.

I was going to say that this seems unlikely... But the Garleans have a record for risky experimentation that has catastrophic consequences, both for themselves and for everyone else, so this really would be par the course for them.

Would be pretty ironic if the puppet empire Emet propped up was directly responsible for the disaster that doomed the Ancients in the first place (through time-travel shenanigans, or whatever).

"Resonant" is simply punning off "the Echo" which it replicates.

You know how Emet is always seemingly wanting to take a nap? I think the only real reason he was supportive of the theater was so he could take naps.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the corralation. I find it very interesting that after introducing the "Resonant" as an obvious analogue to the "Echo", they then introduce the "Sound". It would not surprise me at all to learn that all three are interrelated.

We know very little about the Sound, however there's been a lot of speculation that the Sound was triggered by rampant use of Creation magic. The Echo, apparently an indicator of a fragment of an Ancient's soul, may for that reason also be related to Creation magic.

The sound was just an event. Just like the event that wiped out the dinos in our world. Maybe it was something within the ancients themselves and when their population got too big it triggered. So long as they stay dead the world will be fine.

You know that Necromancer we fight in Heroes' Gauntlet? I've been operating under the distincg feeling that she's an alternate world's Edda.

That Necron or something like it is behind the 'sound' that inspired the Final Days - since the FF14 dev teams loves to yoink plot beats from past FF games for their MSQ and a few things from the Amaurot section reminded me heavily of not just FFX but FFIX as well. I'm kinda doubly convinced of this now because...

5.4 spoilers ahoy.

Fandaniel and his group basically have the same methodology and desire to see everything reduced to nothingness. It feels a little too on the nose for Necron not to be involved to me.

I'm likely very wrong though. ;)

Concerning the music, in particularly Pulse album, the though I had is it's the music tempered people are hearing.
Or it's secret fiestas taking place in Gold Saucer. WoL tells his fights to a musician who decide to create music on which people can dance and have fun...Trials (Tempered) difficulty have been added !

OP, I always liked the idea that the WoL actually hears the music being played, and that is why their summoning on the first resulted in not only a skewed version of the primal they actually fought, but the music is also similar; but not quite right.

Some of my own head canon revolves around Fray, and the WoL's affiliation with him is not by mere chance, but orchestrated by none other than Fray after he witnessed the rain of blood as the WoL single-handedly obliterated the entire HW guard, and saw nothing but fear and dread in King Thordan before being finished off. It was then that Fray decided that he would surrender his soulstone to the WoL, and willingly lost his trial by combat in Ishgard despite exhausting his competition.

I know there is no way this could ever be true canon as players get access to DRK well before the Thordan fight, but this is how it happened in my own head because I did not unlock DRK until late into HW.

To add to this, every Calamity matches how the games started in some manner.
1st Calamity (Wind) = FF5, where the journey was started from the loss of the wind
2nd Calamity (Lightning) = FF12, where technology caused the fall of Dalmasca and led to the story's start
3rd Calamity (Fire) = FF2, where the Emperor set fire to the heroes town, starting the journey for revenge.
4th Calamity (Earth) = FF3, where an earthquake opens up a cave leading to the first crystal.
5th Calamity (Ice) = FF6, where the journey starts in the icy region.
6th Calamity (Water) = FF10, where the game starts during a blitzball (underwater sport) match.
7th Calamity (Astral) = FF7, where the game started during the most chaotic and interesting thing you could imagine...an eco-terrorist attack on a facility.

Now look at the possible 8th Calamity of (Umbral). How does FF1 start? With the generic, boring, "Save the princess" quest.

With a prophecy and your team being spat out into a clearing in a forest fairly adjacent to a tower castle city. :D Who then direct you to save their Princess!

My favorite one I have is that the telegraphs of the many fights we do is due to the echo granting us some kind of clairvoyance. Hence why ordinary adventurers die to simple telegraphs we see coming ,where it be stack markers or Aoes, while we excel. Imagine the game with no markers going in blind, it would be tough out there if it weren’t for the echo

Wild theory time: G'raha isn't as "together" as he claims and the Exarch is still a separate voice in his head, either not in direct control or sharing it, but he (they? both of him?) doesn't want to make us worry. So young G'raha is overplaying it a bit at times and that explains any "out of character for his older self" moments.

There are references sure but there are FF references all throughout the game. I don't think the 'the shards are actually other FF games' fits because they're all reflections of Eorzea. The same base world but with differences from events unfolding differently.

That would be entirely in character. He seems to have a lot going on, and we probably won't let us in on any of it until it's nearly too late. I can't quite let myself believe the potential for instability was resolved in the same patch it was introduced.

Even if it's not actually dangerous for him to be in such a state, it's definitely in character AND it resolves both the "young self overwritten" moral issue and that he just feels slightly off in the last few chapters.

Maybe "accepting each other as the same person" isn't instant but needs to happen over time. Mixing ice and water is a good metaphor, I suppose - essentially the same thing in two different states that can combine seamlessly but not straight away.

Moonkeepers and Duskwights have Argyria/silver poisoning.

Think about it. The shroud is the only source in the base game that contains silver. The silver is found near a water source. Argyria comes from the ingestion of high quantities of silver. Moonkeepers and duswights are wildfolk who live off the land outside of society who could easily have to resort to drinking from less filtered water. Argyria turns your skin blue.

Suspecting the person who graduated ahead of Papalymo in the Studium was Forchenault now since they are fairly close in age..

Huh. Not just "In the shroud" in the shroud in the area that has the historical Duskwight living area and the primary zone you encounter Moonkeepers.

New headcanons: miqote are the most populous race in eorzea overall. Au ra females are a close second over time, hyur take hte spot for most males.

Lalafell fat is considered an unusual ingredient (see culinarian relics) because it can't reliably be harvested

The real reason the black boar gate in Gridania is never open is because there's housing plots for sale behind them and they don't want adventurers to come in and buy them all

Viera can hear the elementals in Gridania but only the padjal are allowed leadership.

The adventurer's guild is secretly a protection racket. The retainers are another arm of them in order to steal the assets of adventurers as well.

Martyn would have beaten Siegfried if he used final sting instead of self destruct

Tossing mine in here: The Sineaters were only so soulless and vicious because they were tempered and aspected to light so thoroughly and completely. Unlike the voidsent on the 13th, whose ancestors were tempered so long ago that entire civilizations have risen and fallen on that world since the time it was lost to darkness shortly after the Sundering+ years ago. Unlike the Source, which had Ascian interference, the civilizations remained relatively primitive. They are thousands of generations removed.

But this is why you can converse with a Voidsent, make a contract with one, etc, and they don't just immediately eat your face like a Sineater would. Voidsent are people.

Also, the imps are the 13th's former Lalafells.

I've wondered about this sometimes, most especially because the music is muted when you go inside Cerberus. I always thought it was a nice touch, but also interesting for the implications.

I've been thinking. If they needed to use aetherically dense people to fuel Zodiark, crystals as we know them must've not existed back then. And when Zodiark rewrote laws of universe he "nerfed" people by knocking large amounts of aether out of them which then became crystals. And that is why even though we are already 9/14 we are nowhere near originals. And that's why Venat feared Zodiark.

At least part of the reason Hydaelyn was summoned was to prevent the Convocation from turning the world into a static state that bowed to the whims of Amaurot.

Recompressing the world back to its original state and culling mortals in accordance with the Convocation's original plan would not restore the glory days of Amaurot. Enough Ancients would be disgusted enough with what their brethren had done to summon a check against Zodiark even more powerful than Hydaelyn.

Hydaelyn was summoned because Zodiark's new laws governing the star were only temporary. As we've seen in the Endwalker FMV the Terminus beasts are all coming back, meaning Fandaniel is somehow undoing Zodiark's laws in 5.55. Further Fandaniel would have to know what caused the Sound or he wouldn't be able to break Zodiark's laws keeping it in check.

Anima is the tortured soul of Zenos' mother.

Endwalker will... end with a post-final battle where after going against Zenos with superpowers, we end up just slugging him into submission, after which he becomes our genuine friend. (Might still hafta toss him in gaol tho.)

The name of the moon of Hydaelyn is "Menphina" after the Eorzean goddess of the moon.

Because Allag. It's always Allagans. Now while Allag did eventually become a scientifically driven society with no belief in true deities, it was originally an Eorzean city-state, and thus had a patron god from the Twelve (probably Azeyma because of all the associated sun symbolsim we see) and probably called the moon by the name of their known moon deity.

Even after the loss of faith in the Twelve, they probably didn't bother to change the name they used to refer to said celestial body, and so when they conqueured everyone on the three continents and spread their language, they also forced them to refer to the moon in the same way they did. And this remained ingrained in the descendants of those people even after Allag's fall. This reasoning is also why Dalamud is known as Dalamud by everyone.

My theory revolves around Adelberta Sterne, the Mining Guild master in Ul'dah. It concerns her parents.
Her father was the mining guild master, but he was originally a gladiator who was known for his odd love of a set of clanking metal armor, and a helmet that looked like a widebrim sunhat. He was known for being very stubborn and stuck to his beliefs almost to the point of stupidity, nevertheless, he was an extremely loyal friend who loved his wife and "little girl" very much. He became a miner in order to find top-rate metals for his wife's armor and weapons. His wife is a famous member of the Sultansworn elite, who lost an eye in battle early in her career. she looks quite alot like her daughter and is known for being rather well-endowed, to the point that Captain Jenlyns has to make himself to stare directly at her face when giving her orders.

Yes, her mom and dad are Beatrix and Steiner.
