I think this was done to avoid another level 70 capstone MSQ trial and a bunch of people without their level 70 skill queuing making the trial much harder than it would have been normally.

It wasn't the lack of the 70 skills, most of which didn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things, but the lack of the free AF gear which was a significant ilvl boost for the most part. Bad players will be bad players, but with good enough gear they can be carried through.
I hope we get the black Amaro ...
the one that looks like Skip from ALC/CUL quests.
That would require altering the story.
Basically the Living Shadow is more in line with the sort of thing you saw in older Summoner quests, a humanoid egi or some such. The journal entry, only when read as a Dark Knight, includes some of "Fray"'s final commentary for you which has them note that your new trick is not them. It's not them because you've finally reached the end of coping with your grief and trauma, you don't need that alternate personality anymore so it simply will not continue to exist.
As mentioned before roulettes and dungeons still exist... not to mention fates, challenge log xp, and there will almost certainly be beast tribe quests for xp coming to shadow bringers in the near future. The MSQ roulette alone is worth a substantial amount of xp daily.
This mount is like tailor made for making people get burned out on leveling and unsubscribe. I mean it's working on me. I'm only on my 4th 80 and I just don't even want to play anymore. But I'm so bored in game right now it's all I have to do.
I have nothing else to do so I actually have been leveling my classes, 6 80's and counting. I leveled up the ones I actually play in content to 80 already. I don't mind running dungeons, at least right now. This is the only game to play and I find leveling a good way to kill time when there isn't really anything else going on. Leveling AST even though I really only ever played WHM as a healer, because I actually want to level something. Doubt I will play the classes I will level too often, but it is a good time sync. The reward sucks though, still wish the amaro was more shiny, but it will be a small status symbol for the first few who get it. Not that I am rushing it.
The whole problem is they are slowly taking content away from the game and sticking it in the store. People complain but its true,
ARR and HW gave 2 or more mounts each during the story
SB gave 1 mount
ShB gives none afaik.
Yet they are more than happy of sticking about 10 a year behind promotions (Third Party, 3 month sub Falcon etc), region locked for months on end (China) or directly in the Cash shop.
If ya don't wanna play jobs you don't like to get it, then you don't want it that badly. Consider its worth, and how often you'll use it and then ask if its worth the effort.
The answer to that is clearly no. It a mount that was tailor made for the story. We interact with them in the story and one of them has significance to the plot of the story. Hell they're this world's version of Chocobos and for our thanks for sticking with their game they lock it behind a 17 job grind. I like leveling out jobs I'm just so fucking burned out by this game. It's like the story was the only good thing about it. Most jobs just feel meh. Tanks and healers got so borked that they put me to sleep when I play them. But you're right I just must not want it enough that's why I'm dropping jobs at 80 to get to the next one. I don't want it enough clearly. No clearly I just want it handed to me.
Jesus the gymnastics people will impose to protect their fandom is awe inspiring.
i dont mind having a reward like this for leveling all jobs
its not really the problem its just the mount has been set up as the most basic form of transportation compared to a chocobo something handed to us and our first* mount
if it was anything else i don't think it would have been any confusion but since its just a Amaro why people are questioning it
im also curious what music it plays while its mounted
Mainly I'm just really bored. Not to tell you my life story, but I moved over to Crystal to play with my best friend and he got like maybe two hours into Shadowbringers and he just never logs in anymore. So I've been trying to find a good FC to help people because that generally what I find fun. I've just been having a terrible time finding the right FC. Kinda burning me out.
He is grinding for it because there is nothing else to do, but because of the grind he is apparently wanting to unsubscribe. There is kind of a lack of logic, or rather he should just take it in moderation. I have cleared Innocence Ex about 130 times or so, he could always mount farm! I only saw it drop once!
I mostly play solo, but I get this. When I start getting burned out I try to find something else to do. There are tons of other mounts in the game if you don't already have them, like Gold saucer, or bunny farm (Granted pyros is probably dead as heck). Gold saucer for sure has way cooler mounts. I'd have more than 6 80's but I vary my play a bit. If you haven't already there is also, dog farm, bird farm, pony farm (you can just solo pony though).
I can do those types of mount farms they generally don't bother me. I just don't really want to gear up or do Extremes at the moment. It was never my thing. I always would just come back at the end of an expansion to gear up with catch up gear, but I've been playing for the last 7 months striaght and I have pretty much everything at 70 so I'm only leveling 170 levels so it's not as bad as it could be. It's just getting to me lately.
If you are a decent player all you actually need is ronkan, though some party finder groups demand 443+ to enter. What I mean by decent player is, can pull good enough numbers if you are a dps to clear the boss at an efficient time (before enrage); hold your own. Heal adequately, or tank (mostly just knowing when to mitigate). Tanking innocence is actually very easy, even though I had high anxiety while doing it since I really only tank dungeons.
I just generally avoid that kinda stuff. I'm more a fan of doing it like an expansion later with a group of friends. That's me though. I just find grinding gear pointless when I can get the best gear for me at the end of the expansion. It's easier for me to just wait. I know that's not what you're supposed to do, but I'm not on forums complaining that I need the best gear for doing nothing. I kinda leave you guys to that lane and I stay in mine. Sure it's casual, but I like it.
But not to derail the discussion about having to level 17 things to 80 for a mount.
Just don't think about it like that. You can gear your main class in full ronkan passively while wearing green accessories from dungeons (roulette) and your artifact gear. You can actually clear the extremes in that gear too, I just generally would advise to think about the group and wear more appropriate gear for the trial. When you hop into an Innocence or Titania farm (assuming you can hold your own) you can also passively get your upgraded 450 accessories, or your weapon. You don't even have to care about drops just wait 10 clears and there is your weapon! The edengate raids are laughably easy as well, I effectively solo healed one last night and did more damage than every single dps apparently. There are enough drops that it should drop something yo uneed, don't wanna grind? Don't. Just do them sparingly and you will be geared up adequately eventually. You can fully meld yourself from just doing adventurer in need, and even if you don't you can passively earn materia through dungeons as well, among other ways.
Gearing shouldn't be that much of an issue, I think people just overthink it, or it looks like a big hurdle, when it really is not. You don't need to have bis to do all the content adequately.
It's actually effectively 16 classes since sch/smn would level together, but I actually think it is a great idea to tie an achievement like this to a desirable reward, such as a mount. I wish they would do it more often. The problem is the amaro sucks, and should be a MSQ drop not a achievement mount. Even if it wasn't tied to the story, the mount just looks too dumb to be worth it, and not in the good way. All it would be, would be a fleeting status symbol.
I'm very happy to finally get a mount reward for leveling alts but I think the Amaro is not a good choice for this achievement. It should have been given in the MSQ and us altoholics could have had a stylish recolor of an existing mount or something more unusual than a basic taxi mount.
We might still get one in patches. I'm holding out hope for Seto, personally.
On the one hand, it's sad that the reward fot m leveling all classes is just a regular amaro. On the other, it's amusing seeing all these people who can't imagine trying anything outside of their little slice of the game getting upset that they'll never earn one.
Personally, I'm open to new things. If they had required, say, 1 of each role, I think that would have been reasonable. Even someone who is very anti healing like myself might be willing to try and level one if this was the case. 3 though? No thanks. I think the achievement, and the mount attached to it, is a lot of effort for an underwhelming reward. If anything I think the mount should have been nicer than a standard amaro.
Just casually leveling with trusts I have everything almost at 75 so it's very doable and rather easy with the trust system. (Also used squads to level to 71 on everything but my main job since I mostly level while I'm working, so its hard to be in a regular party since I have to afk alot)
The game regurgitates exp all over you.
It rains from the skies. You'd have to try to not get everything capped.
This post might be more impressive if I have everything capped but I'm half way there or so...
I only have 11 mounts now, and the Amaro is just another that I will never get. There's no way I'll grind all those jobs to max. I can barely stand working on leveling my crafters, let alone tanks and healers.
It's OK to not get a prestige mount you don't want to do the prestige achievement for.
People might as well be complaining about the metadog or metabird; not everyone is willing to set enough time on fire doing the busywork and that's what keeps those mounts somewhat uncommon.
That's fine. Heck, a hotly anticipated mount is a lot cooler for this particular achievement than another stupid hat.
I think the key problem people have is not so much there is a mount at this achievment point but that it's the mount teased in MSQ multiple times just like in the past. Not only the standard of highly teased mounts becoming a reward later in the story but in general a history of mount rewards part of the story. We've had Manacutter, Midgardsormr, Black Chocobo, Company Chocobo, Magitek Walker, and the Yol.
It's just rather unusual and not to standard. Personally, to me, that doesn't mean SE HAS to follow that past precedence but it's certainly out of precedence and so it's a bit disappointing (expected but then told "no"). I know some others said it bothered them a lot more though, I'm just speaking for myself ("oh, that's a bummer and a bit weird- but okay I guess" though if they decided to change it I would certainly be okay with that.. haha <3).
So I'm not disagreeing that it's okay to have prestige mounts, of course it is ! lol. I'm just saying for many the issue is that this is out of expectation/precedence, and it was a precedence many people liked. So issue isn't the concept of prestige mounts, at least for many.
It would feel more worth it to me if the Amaro was like our Chocobo. I would love another mount to level, put barding on and fight by my side. Being able to adjust the Amaro color at the stable would be amazing too! If this were the case I would make getting everything to 80 a priority!
I don't mind that there's an achievement with a mount.
But the Amaro is the standard, most common mount used in the First. It feels like something that should be easier to achieve. Or at least make it like, 'do all four role stories' sort of mount and not LEVEL EVERY JOB mount.
Yeah, it would have made more sense to make the amaro part of the MSQ and make the all 80's thing something better/more interesting.
But there's no chance of this because of how it's earned. They would not put so much development resources around a mount that so few people have. If it was the story mount you could probably make that request but not as it is now.
Ala Mhigo dungeon also has a mount drop which was a weird and pleasant surprise. Pretty sure nothing drops in any of the new expansion dungeons.
