Personally think you get enough warning already.
Quote:
30 days of inactivity: A notification indicating that the estate is being prepared for auto-demolition will appear in the Timers interface in the Duty tab of the Main Menu.
35 days of inactivity: An e-mail will be delivered to the registered e-mail addresses of all free company members, or the owner of a private estate, indicating the estate is being prepared for auto-demolition.
42 days of inactivity: An e-mail will be delivered to the registered e-mail addresses of all free company members, or the owner of a private estate, indicating that the estate will be demolished automatically in three days.
45 days of inactivity: The estate will be automatically demolished.
30 days of inactivity: A notification indicating that the estate is being prepared for auto-demolition will appear in the Timers interface in the Duty tab of the Main Menu. (Buried under a separated housing tab which is deep in menu after changing from self notices you find it.) Not normally check that. FIX: would be a pop up when close to loosing your property on logging on instead.
35 days of inactivity: An e-mail will be delivered to the registered e-mail addresses of all free company members, or the owner of a private estate, indicating the estate is being prepared for auto-demolition. (This all happens in a little over a weeks time IRL, by the time i had time to check on the weekend it was already done. Also it goes to promo spam mail)

3 ways to fix this is:
1) Allow being on the outside on your property to count for all who log on and pay subs. Which i did often to que for PVP matches.
2) Provide a Pop up warning when you log into game showing clearly that you are going to loose your land if not enter house click here to confirm notice. This is do to FFXIV housing rules just starting again. thx!
3) Convert to instance housing for all that can never be demolished by a timer.
Also to address the question that a lot here state that i was aware of the rules and changes. The answer is i was not up on all the changes and restart times. This was not the way i wanted to learn about it as well. I posted this so it can be fixed.
Why do people act like other people would be more interested in useing said house? Like.. There really isn't a whole lot to do at your house except make it look good and the garden and once you are done with that, maybe visit it and hang there ever my so often.
While I'm at it, I'm fairly certain that when my house was close to being demolished, when ever i logged on there would be the red message in the chat window, like the first thing i saw after the message of the day and all that... I could be wring, its been a while.
I do feel that as long as you pay your sub witg no lapse, then timers shouldnt start, but the moment you stop payments then thats when timers should pick up. You would get rid of inactive player houses and people paying still keep theirs without haveing to worry about said timers.
Imo, this is a good policy, fair, you get many warnings, so it’s your own fault, now many who couldn’t have a house because of some players greed now they have bigger chance, some buy a house and rarely use it, what about questionable accounts or bots, even if they get warnings they don’t reply because they are bots, so that deserves demolition, let everyone have a chance to buy a house especially active players, so I am happy with this policy.
Basically. The entire housing system is bunk in this game yet players celebrate active subscribers losing out because they feel like the system is somehow personally meting out justice to those they think are unworthy lol. I think if you stay subscribed, you should keep your house. Someone subscribed is just as invested in the game as you are, no need to force them to babysit their property just so they don't lose it to someone else who will likely never do anything with it either after the initial hype/decorating period has worn off.
I still can't believe after like 3 expansions the devs have done arse-all to fix housing and we're still stuck with Ultima Online levels of ancient housing management.
I wouldn't have my house today if not for the demolition timer. My house if the most important thing to me, the point that I subscribed an entire year because I don't want to give it up. I log out every game in my bedroom and craft most everything in my house. I even personally craft almost 90% of everything in my house, a project which took me a month to complete. If you have to "babysit" your house, it really sounds like you don't even want it. If the house is a burden, let your house be given to someone like me, who will enjoy it thoroughly.
This is what I'd like to see. We already have instanced housing but people are still asking for it because apartments weren't made to be as good as the wards. If we get a balcony/greenhouse for everyone then the dissatisfied people can finally rest. Apartments are technically limited in number but there are enough that we won't run out.
I wish i had a house ... >.>
See since 11 days i had the warning of a friends L house in shiro, he had that large one fro private and got another one for his fc... made me mad since we had no chance back then...
His house was EMPTY the first 1-1,5 years, now like 50 things are inside, at most. like ONE item in all the basement. Not it was almost gone and i waited if id might get it, but nooo on the last day he logged just to keep it and i bet i wont see him another 3 weeks now >_>
I never said "you don't deserve your house". But if players are at the point that they are going to complain about being forced to go into their own homes then why not let someone else have a house?
You make it sound like such a burden. Well, you can always ease your burdens by letting someone else own a home. It's win-win.
I think they should have to reimburse ones for cost of the plot, lost of house and any lost furniture they can't get back. Kind of dumb can't loose apartment room but can private house. They need to change it where if have it shared if one them enter the house it stops auto demolition to it just like a fc house. Like I have mine shared with max amount people can have. I do it help ones that can't find plot open for themselves. that way they can do gardening, use the chocobo stables, and all items inside my house. It be nice if they let friends buy rooms in shared plots to.
If you guys think literally walking into your house once every 45 days is "baby sitting" I hope you never have kids or are around kids...
First: This post is meant for only people that had this happen to them.
Second: I pay for subs.
Third: I enjoyed my house and queuing from outside for pvp, doing tournaments, ranking top 100. I do not feel this deserves loss of house. You stated its a burden, I did not. It is not. I normally would enter house, just lost track on time and that fact that the timer stuff started again, I was busying enjoying the game from my house outside to notice. Because I care. I provided some change options:

Look man, we're all sorry you lost your house... But if you can't be bothered to sit through one load screen every month in order to keep it, that's on you.
First: I don't recognize your authority to enforce that on a public forum.

1.
a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.
Second: I pay for subs.
Third: Thanks to the housing demolition timer, you will get the chance to become a homeowner again, so never lose hope.
Just transfer to Japan Datacenter. Last time I checked they had tons of housing and have very good player base.
losing a house in balmung? BALMUNG!? goodluck finding a new one.
1. are you serious? it's official forum, duh.
2. even if you pay a sub you still need to abide by their rule because you just only rent their online space. same with your character tbh.
3. "just lost track of time" are lame excuse, it's 45day! not 45 minute for god saaaaaake
OP's entitlement are so real, almost can touch it on my screen...
You keep bringing up PvP. What does you enjoying PvP have to do with housing? It doesn't matter where you queue into PvP. PvP and housing are two completely separate unrelated things. If you are playing constantly, seriously how hard can it be for you to enter your house to stop the demolition timer? You didn't do it so it doesn't look like you really cared all that much.
Also, I know this is a few days old but...
AH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *cough* *wheeze *snort* *cough* cough* cough* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Ah the good ol' "if this doesn't get changed, I'm gonna unsub!" threat/argument. Yet these people never seem to actually unsub. This was such a stupid statement I couldn't help it. FF14 subs are at an all time high and housing is only a small part of the game most players don't get into anyway. Threatening to unsub over this? BBBYYYYYEEEEEE!!!! DON'T COME BACK!!! I think SE can survive without those threatening to unsub over this.
So let me get this straight.
- Warning once you buy the house
- Warning on the lodestone that the demolish timer was being turned back on after being off for a long period of time
- Warning in the Timers menu
- Warning on day 35 via e-mail
- Warning on day 42 via e-mail
This isn't enough?
If you had entered your house ONCE during any of the time, the timer would have stopped, btw.
ONCE. IN. 45. DAYS.
They could make housing instanced or semi instanced like apartments that we never lose. Too bad OP, you are on Balmung too it looks like. I visited there once, there were no houses available.
So, squatters rights?
Maybe if you use your house you shouldn't worry about that.
I lost my house too but I was taking a break. Got pretty upset about that because it is not that easy to make Gil for me and I had lost my money and furniture on that. It is kinda fair because you are not playing anymore but they should at least give back your Gil.
If your house gets auto-demolished you have 30 days (...I think it was 30) to pick up your furniture and 80% of what you paid for the plot from the resident caretaker. So you do have a chance to get (some of) your gil and all of your furniture back - unless you're gone for more than 75 days total (45 days for the auto-demolition + 30 days for the pick up).
Get an apartment if you want a place you're not going to walk into anyway and sit on someone else's yard and just pretend it's your own.
What does you enjoying PvP have to do with housing? For context. To each his own. This is how I played the game and also was on my property doing so.
If you are playing constantly, seriously how hard can it be for you to enter your house to stop the demolition timer? I already answered this so no need to continue asking. Read up.
Threatening to unsub over this? No this is a fact that a friend told me he did. It was not referring to me. Also it is not about taking SE down. It is about awareness of how some people play the game.
Boy you're really salty about losing a house you neglected for a month and a half.
