Please change the height of the Veena!

The fantasia I'm about to drink to change to Au Ra is going to taste even sweeter now that I know there are people out there who are bothered by them.

Even Feols are tall, the only thing mentioned about them is that their ears are shorter and skin is fair. So, technically, you could cosplay Feol as Veena - just set your ear slider at 0. Also their minimal height is 178.8 cm, it's not that tall really and I say it as somebody with 160cm irl height.


Aside from this, it's fun how about males people scream that we have enough short options when 5 of them are 180+, 2 are just normal height and 1 is noticeably short. But at the same time for females, where only 2 options are 180+, only 2 are 170+, 1 is 150+, 2 are 140+ and 1 noticeably short people continue to ask more short options. :rolleyes:

For the rest, I'm certainly not opposed to everyone getting what they want. Honestly I can even understand the people who want more youthful looking characters since what I picture when people request it is late teens like Alphinaud, something about younger characters facing dangerous situations is heroic, look at a lot of popular stories, games, or movies (the Eragon /books/ the legend of zelda games, even various other final fantasy games.)

With Viera we got what we were never even actually promised simply because people wanted it so badly, and one way or another there were going to be people who would be unhappy with that since there are a lot of loud voices unhappy with most everything.

I personally like the way Viera fit neatly between Elezen and Highlanders, because when it comes to it that's exactly where they belong: still fit but not the way highlander girls are, still tall and graceful but not as tall as Elezen girls (unless you count the ears, then they are probably the single tallest race.)

Then they also have the ability to be really stunningly beautiful like miqo'te and au ra characters, or fierce/stern like roes and highlanders.. so literally most everyone can find something to like in their design because the characters you are able to make capture most all of the best aspects of every other race to date.

That said..
I will also agree that it would be nice to see older races get a bit of polish but that is a touchy subject to approach in an mmo because people come to feel such an attachment to their characters.

Business or Bunniness, I'm all for it. I love the idea of playing a tall lady but could never get a look I was happy with as Roe, Elezen or Highlanders. So until now I went to the other extreme. Eorzea's about to get a whole lot smaller for me.

On topic though - yes pleeeease to some additional face paint options. If always wanted to be able to do a full glam makeup look but it's just not feasable since you lose any cheek color when you put on eye shadow.

On Viera topic again, if you like tiny short girls, good for you, I enjoy them aswell but we only have 2 tall females with pretty extreme features (one being very muscular and the other being just...well...giraffes) so it's about time we got another tall race that isnt overly muscular or whatever Elezen is.

Edit: I guess Highlanders can be considered part of the tall females, to me personally they're just a "in the middle" thing but even then its 3vs4 so with viera now it feels pretty even (for females)

The height slider performs a simple scaling of the entire character and requires no additional artwork to adjust...at least in theory.

If Square Enix keeps having people getting annoyed over stuff like this, it might be better to just remove race-specific height slider limitations. Want a viera that's as small as a lalafell? Sure. Want a lalafell that's as tall as a roe? Go for it.

Although, people would likely get annoyed at that too. Stuff like "height limitations are part of racial identity!"

You know what? You can't satisfy everybody. It's flat-out impossible. Somebody has to be upset, or at the bare minimum, disappointed. It's a part of the laws of physics at this point.

Highlanders are just tall by realistic standards (6'1). They're just not abnormally tall like Roe, Elezen, and Viera

Yes that's probably why I see them as I do. Plus i rarely see Highlanders and usually on the shorter side of the slider but that just comes down to personal encounters.

most fenale races are short it's the male races that usually stereotypical tall and soo buffed

I wonder why Roegadyn can change the size between 30.7cm, but others races only something between 10.1 - 14.9 cm. Why they have twice more room change the height compared to other races?

Because we needed a race that just goes from tall to massive. Not everything in life nor in this game has to be "equal".

I have no idea why the devs decided to give that unique range to Roegadyn females only. Makes no sense, you'd think they would keep to the motif they have for everyone else. Sorta like how they make sure to give everyone around the same number of unique hairstyles.

You'd have to ask them why they gave Roe females extra special range.

I was curious a few days ago and went ahead and made a Viera just to see and nothing more at first. Their height really didn't bother me at all. I did adore their personality and body language since its a direct opposite to my own personality and its making me think about using that free fantasia I've had banked for like ever now to go to Viera once they go live in the game.

They have arguably the best /furious emote. No shouting or throwing arms about, just an indignant stomp and a backwards tilt of the head to flash a disgusted look down her nose. I love it.

You do realise that if they were to do this, it would mean remodelling every single gear piece again to fit the new height parameters? I'm pretty sure they aren't going to do that. I think the female Viera look great as they are - only ask i would have is a more "fierce" face option - but i don't think that will ever happen but that's just a personal thing. With Viera there isn't much as much disparity between the faces that there is in the other races. - This is something that may be adjusted at some point in the future if they ever expand or improve on the customisation options.

I'm pretty short in real life, but the tall Viera are perfect the way they are. They've always been presented as lovely, tall ladies, even the Feol. Actually, some of my friends who are big fans of the Viera wish they were taller than Elezan and FemRoes, but I rather like the way they are now.

I'm 5'2 and tall women are absolutely stunning in my eyes. I also hard side eye anyone who fetishizes my petite stature, as it often comes just a hair shy of infantilization in cases exactly like this.

That said all women, men, and those who lay somewhere betwixt are beautiful. You can have a specific preference for one side of the spectrum or another, but let's not pretend it's anything more than bias when you malign the other side. Let's just appreciate that everyone has something that makes them beautiful even if we cannot see it and trite as it might be to say such a thing.

I dated a guy who was barely taller than me while barefoot. With certain shoes on I looked a bit taller than him. Honestly I found his height quite convenient. I didn't get a creak in my neck from kissing him :P
