I don't get the obsession over having exclusive trophies. It's what you accomplished that means something, not what you got from doing it.
Someone else having the same item doesn't take away what you accomplished.

That really doesn't matter. We have had Yokai Watch twice and items put on the Mog Station. There is an odd jumping back and forth (not pinning everything on you) between this was earned and this was a limited time only thing. Both arguments are silly.
The experiences mean far more than the earrings ever will. I think this should a positive experience, and I know many will see it that way. But it is everyone's choice to make this new experience a positive one or a negative one.
I agree with items - but leave my tat alone please!!!!!!!
The equivalent really isn't ultimate gear, it's eureka gear. It's taking an item from a different game that shut down years ago and putting it in this game.
Maybe they can give a housing trophy for those that have the achievement?
If you say so. The creator of Yokai came back and wanted it back in because he wasn't able to finish the HQ mount IIRC. It's fine if you don't see value in things that others do.
If they pulled the minions from the first print merchandise and sold them on the mog station, people would probably be upset.
If they gave everyone a chance at the previous top 100 feast mounts, people would probably be upset.
If they pulled the emotes from the $100 statues and sold them for $8, people would probably be upset.
Pretty much the same thing. If they're going to say it's exclusive or implied exclusivity and then go back on their word it wouldn't surprise me to see people get annoyed.
When I won this bike from the lottery, I was really happy. It is the only bike like this in the world. No bike looks like it. And it's mine:

Then I saw a person riding this bike and was horrified How could they dishonor me like this?:

Luckily, I realized it was just a replica. Not the same bike. Crisis averted.
It kind of does and more people having something diminishes the value, hence rare things going for more/being more valuable. Some people don't see it as just something they accomplished but something they have that's also rare.
I didn't play 1.0 but I would be annoyed if I were in this situation, It's ok to keep some things exclusive.
If not everyone is capable of doing it, why should they get the exact same reward as someone who can? If the fight was still available in it's super hard state then I don't think anyone would care as much about the rewards still being available through it. But this is just handing out Ultimate rewards to everyone because enough time has passed that the few people left who earned it aren't enough to deter SE any more.
If it's not an exact copy, like altering the text to make it clear that it's a "replica" or using a different color scheme for the Rising version, then I think a lot of this brouhaha would die down. There are precious few things that can be considered "badges of honor/skill" in this game- let the people who earned it keep it, give the rest of us a different version.
I really want these earrings. With the amount of aggro they are generating I won't ever have to switch to tank stance ever again.
Ah but now you have a much larger player population that has no access to even getting such an achievement or the item associated with it. It is not due to a lack of skill, although yes we both know there are many that cannot handle harder aspects of the game. Still, many are capable, but they have no avenue to prove it. This is why I would rather see the challenge reopened.
If they allowed the Lulu minion (the one limited time exclusive I have, along with the summoner outfit) to go on the MB and for a lower price, I would be very happy. Why? Because the people that I had to tell that they could not get one could then get one. People see me with the minion often. Its not because she is exclusive. She is my favorite character from FFX. I would rather more people be able to have it. I find the restrictions silly for that reason. It doesn't hurt me any, even if she was originally tied behind content. The nerf relics steps from the same expansion, so others can catch up. Does it degrade the relic steps I take before nerfs? Absolutely not.
For those stating that SE should have made the event reward a 'replica' White Ravens instead of the real thing, players still would have complained, as they did exactly that when SE added the laurel gobbue mount ages ago, that it "invalidated the exclusiveness of the 1.0 gobbue" or something - never mind it wasn't the 1.0 gobbue at all it was the fact it was a gobbue period that triggered a section of 1.0 players (and made the rest of us look ungrateful). Hence even if they had made the White Ravens gained in this event a mere replica, there still would have been complaints.
So really, once again it shows that no matter what Yoshi does it will always be wrong, that players will never be satisfied, and that someone will be disappointed. Really the poor guy may as well just give up trying to appease us as he'll never win... :(
That's kind of the point of a limited event though? If you don't do it you might not get a chance to.
I have a sneaking suspicion the FFX stuff is going on the mog station eventually since the mog suit from the 1st fanfest is already there. I think I remember seeing Yoshi say something about that at some point, I don't remember where. When they sold the first "exclusive" item on the mog station (which people didn't seem to like either since the advertisement said "exclusive" there was a thread on here when that happened), I took it as the ffx stuff is going to be on there eventually.
Relics aren't even the same thing.. they don't release and then say btw you have 3 months to do it before we delete it from the game.
3 Months is a long time. I thought it was much shorter than that.
It looks like SE made a mistake in making promises, likely thinking the game won't be where it is today. Now, you have people asking for older items not available to most players, including ones that have played for years and have helped make FFXIV much stronger. As a result, here we are in this mess. I'm not sure you agree with that, but it's how I see it.
I'm not saying relics are the same in terms of availability but that once nerfed, it is not the same exact content. If T9 is nerfed content, maybe we can have something better.
I was be very happy if they put FFX stuff on the Mog Station. I feel bad every time someone asks me.
Some players would probably complain yes, but at least I wouldn't feel guilty for getting the item. "You can't please everyone" is no reason to hand out one of the very few exclusive test of skill prizes in the game as a participation prize. Distinguishing between those who earned it and those who were present for The Rising 2018 would quell a lot of the unhappiness... and for those who won't be happy no matter what, well, at least you can prove you have the original.
Unless I'm grossly misunderstanding something (and I could be, I'm very tired), people are upset because a very rare and hard-to-earn item is being handed out as part of a 15 minute text quest chain. Not because of some hypothetical revival of the event that could give players who surpass the challenge the reward.
I played 1.0. I don't give a shit if all of that old content is recycled. I'm never going to wear any of it anyway, because that just triggers memories of a horrible game I wish I'd never wasted my time on.
Perhaps the players who feel so strongly about it should take their leave of the game and vote with their wallets? Even if it's only a temporary affair, it's worrying that of all the issues that this game had endured recently this is becoming the latest storm in a teacup.
I like how they nuked the other thread. They gonna nuke this one too?
If you're not trying to just brush this under the rug maybe you should invest in better forum software, Square. Thread merging has been a thing since forever.
Its possible it was nuked because that one was a lot more hostile.
Theres a thread on the JP forums as well.

The other thread was overdramatic at the start and then was basically replicating the discussion being held in this one. They didn’t really need to both be running at once.
i know the event is for level 15 but it would have been nice to get them for completing the Nael fight with a minimum ilevel or something comparable since the original no longer exists.
That's a slap in the face to every 1.0 player who stuck that version of the game out. 2.0 players support the game more because they pay the normal, standard sub fee? Poppycock! We have supported the game from the very start, you have this game in part due to the fact that there was a small population of us who didn't desert the game and showed SE ppl were logging in and playing despite the failed launch. Entitled? Not at all, just stop dumping on us, we did the hard work, you get to enjoy the reboot. The reduced sub was part of the ty for playing a failed game, doesn't make those of us benefiting from it, supporting it any less.
They had different stats back then Einstein. They were bis for every job.

I was there, but never got my White Ravens. I'm excited to get them after so long, however i understand the issues many are having. I would hate for others to get my Legacy tattoo, Chocobo, or Dalmud Horn. Make no mistake that fight was hard and those items were a status symbol that proved you went above the call to get every ounce of the game.
If the salt wouldn't drown SE i would want more rewards (mostly a way to make my Legacy Cocobo my Companion to fight along side, an upgrade to the Chocobo itself in terms of size and passenger carry limit, visual lengthening of it's wings, and option for a unique barding.)
I will always be proud to have my name in the credits of this game, to be a part of the FF series, i supported FFXIV when everyone told me not to waste my time with a dead game, i had to upgrade my computer to stupid measures just to play the game (hard to do with my limited pc knowledge back in those days...) You can say it's just a graphic, data that really doesn't matter. It mattered to me though, and even though i get to have them now i understand i didn't earn them when it counted.
Exactly this. People played because they wanted to play a game. There was no great sacrifice being made here. And SE decided to remake this title... the subs that stuck around were a very very VERY tiny fraction of any decision that was made to do that. So I'm not really going to genuflect to a 1.0 player just because they stuck around longer than I did. Honestly, from a very coldly logical and economical standpoint, SE has no real reason to care what Legacy Players want these days. Their focus would logically be on bringing in and retaining new players because the value of their subs is going to be higher. Dollar/Yen/Euro/etc-wise, their requests and wants for the game are going to matter more to the developers than the much smaller faction of Legacy Players, regardless of how nice that is to hear. Legacy Players got their 'thank you' with the Legacy Chocobo, Tattoo, and Sub. Probably not great to hear, but eh.
I say this with all kindness, and also as someone who has the same items you do, so it’s not sour grapes on my part or anything:
You should seek validation from something better than unavailable items in a video game. Having your name in the credits is kind of a cool novelty (I know, mine’s there too) but playing a bad video game for a couple of months isn’t really an accomplishment, and if you let yourself get bent out of shape at the thought of other people having your legacy mark or Dalamud horn, (and I’m sorry to say that based on SE’s actions there IS a nonzero chance of that happening), then you may be in for an unfortunate surprise one of these Risings.
What is sad is, no value is placed on the fact a character is from 1.0 unless you got earrings and horns that others can't have.
Just imagine if they had decided to wipe the 1.0 data and start everyone fresh, i'd still be here but i know the entitled people wouldn't be.
