I do appreciate a necro when it's actually breathing some new life into the topic with someone's fresh perspective.
But this...responding directly to OP a little over 8 months as if the thread had been made yesterday? Yeesh.

Necro aside, most of my experience as a target of Rescue has been just getting casts interrupted as a BLM or RDM...
a snowflake is a snowflake no matter how you cut it
I just used rescue to save a sprout a couple of times in LotA. On the other hand, this ast kept using rescue on my drk in copperbell after I asked her to stop.
Sooo are we ignoring that rescue is required for unreal strat in final omega?
i wished rescue had a lower cd time....
I’ve saved not only other lives, but my life too with that move. Most healers won’t abuse it, and it’s a very useful move. Sure I’m clumsy and sometimes use it by accident or when it isn’t needed, but when I do save someone, I feel super happy. It’s useful if timed properly.
Usually I only use rescue in LotA to make sure 4 people are standing on the plattform.
I mostly Rescue to yoink people out of the animation lock from using LBs.
It's not too reliable for saving people from AoEs as it's like most movement based skills where it only updates your location after you've reached the final destination so you need to do it really early.
LOL how dare you... people will not be able to complain "GET ON THE PLATFORM".
I've been rescued a few times and they are for the most part unwelcome because I knew what i was doing and where i was standing and didn't really appreciate the healer doing their thing.
I have been pulled once on a dungeon, to get to the other side of the aoe (tho I was fine already) maybe healer likes hugs, dunno, I found it funny.
Anyway, heard some leaks say they are going to remove role skills, so, dunno, I as a healer never use it, not even on my crossbar
I have a healer friend who likes to mess with me using Rescue sometimes but it's all in jest...but overall it's very useful skill to have. I think it does more good than bad by existing.
It's kinda required for some savage mechanics when used properly, so I'm going to have to disagree with this thread.
Personally as someone who mains healer I think Rescue is a garbage skill and no one is going to learn mechanics if you are rescuing them from them. I refuse to even put rescue on my hot bar when I could have told a sprout or person whom is new to content the mechanics before hand and if we wipe I am more than willing to do the content multiple times until we get it right.
Content is also garbage if rescue is a necessity plain and simple that is just fact.
There should be an option in game settings to opt out of rescue entirely and giving the party a notification, "this player has opted out of rescue adjustment" so the whole party knows their healer just tried to rescue troll someone.
WoW has this option for their rescue skill however I feel it should go above and beyond with the notification going party wide.
I have never had rescue used on me efficiently when playing as a DPS class it is always used as a skill a healer uses when they are bored and they want to troll someone or get someone killed.
I cannot tell you how many times I have had to make a ticket for rescue abuse while playing as a healer in raids and the other healer thinking it is funny to kill the DPS with the skill or me. Or when I am playing a DPS in those raids and those healers think those same things in those raids.
Then when I throw up my macro that says hey please do not use rescue on me thank you, I am met with vitriol and ire. The simple fact that I have rescue used on me abusively so often that I have a macro for it is evidence enough that this skill needs to be canned or the ability to be opted out of.
I respectfully disagree because some savage content strats designed by players makes it easier with rescue. It also has its uses. yes, the skill has the high potential for trolling, but it also has the high potential for its usability as well.
Sorry that you are meeting such players in game, but your experiences don't warrant the skill being removed in its entirety
I've had this discussion before, and the best solution to this problem is to simply allow people to opt out of Rescue working on them. Make it a toggle that's on by default, and put a little debuff next to the players Party frame so Healers know he can't be Rescued. World of Warcraft already does this, because they understand how much players despise intrusive abilities like that.
I agree that Rescue is primarily a troll button, and in my experience does way more harm than good. I would turn it off IMMEDIATELY if I had the option, but I understand some people use it in their statics to cheese mechanics or optimize, so just let people who don't want it used on them opt out of it.
Why was this necroed?
Yep, this kind of goes with the same fact that many people still think job balance is made primarily for dungeons and normal content, which isn't the case. Savage is the barometer for job balance and skills because this is where all of them, including rescue and other former role skills such as Surecast are used 100%.
I saved my new, sprout cohealer from Ancient Flare in CT a few days ago in the nick of time. It felt pretty good, and they picked up on the mechanic pretty much right away after.
It has it's place. It also just enables people to be dicks, too.
Its not even on my hotbar. If I can do mechanics so can you.
Alright, I actually have had it now. If you can't use rescue responsibly, don't use it. Please and thank you. I am near convinced now that it actually does need to be removed. Not there yet, but the more healers keep either pulling me into mechanics, or pulling me out of nothing, I am getting closer and closer to that conclusion. I appreciate the thought, but stop it.
Please no, do not remove rescue. It is a skill similar to sleep and the now gone fluid aura. I would rather another skill that you can use in creative ways just taken out because 'people don't use it' and 'but trolls use it wrong'. Trolls will use all of their skills. By your logic they should remove provoke too because tanks like to have a voke war during alliance raids and cleave the party.
Just report them for greifing as was said previously. Maybe ask them why they did it in chat if they legitimately didn't 'fat finger' the skill or mistimed using it properly. If they admit to purposely killing you it will be the easiest report of your life.
It is reportable , report them and they will get banned, I have seen it happen, SE GMs don’t fuck around with any abuse, that’s why we have very nice community because they enforce it unlike wow.
My sincere gratitude to all SE GMs, you guys are a beacon of the community , you are the reason we have a nice community,I have seen actual abuser banned 100% of the time if the abuse are within the guideline, Again SE GM don’t fuck around ,anyone who want to test the waters to even remotely try to troll with rescue do it at our own peril.
Rescue has a huge cooldown. To the point where even if someone does use it to abuse you, you can just shrug it off and move on. They can't continuously spam it, and if they keep doing it after every wipe you can just kick them from the party.
As a healer I like using Rescue especially during trials like Sophia. Or sometimes during certain dungeon mechanics. Do I need to do it? No. But they are stunned and about to get hit by the AoE.
I've never had the problem with troll-rescues.
Whenever I've been rescued it's been to help me avoid a mechanic or something I was too slow to avoid or was inexperienced with.
Report counts. If someone does this every single game, its blatant that this is no longer an excuse. Thats why you also shouldnt be too afraid to report if you feel it was a troll. If its truly an accident, then nothing will happen anyway (you wont get punished for a single invalid report either). Trolls are often very good at doing it at frustrating moments, and outside of that act like nothing happened. The volume (and rate) of reports however wont lie about it.
With good logging, a GM can have a lot of information to go by. Making a decision easy. A single fat finger pull that caused a wipe on that wont do a lot, even if that player got 7 reports in that game. Simply because that might just have been a single event. Getting 2 reports 4 games in a row however will be suspicious.
This ,people please don’t be afraid to report any abuse. It will be acted upon.I have seen it, they made couple of toxic people quit this game :). Any form of toxicity isn’t welcomed in this game even a minor N00b you would say Willy nilly in wow is bannable here, right away, and by right away I mean minutes.
For me, I'm not even referring to troll rescues, but the ones who actually have good intentions, but just don't use it properly. The skill needs to be pretimed otherwise it's too late, and can even pull one into other mechanics unintentionally. Like I've said, I appreciate the thought, but people need to stop if they can't use it properly. The possibility of it being timed and used properly - to save a life - is the only reason I haven't written it off.
Don't remove it please. I've saved plenty of sprouts and had myself saved by a few wonderful healers (even in EW content I'm running for the first time - people learn cues quickly lmao). I've never seen it used in trolling (outside of friends messing around with each other in closed content) but I imagine it does happen from time to time. Been playing a long old time now and not witnessed it once myself however. At least I've never seen someone call someone out for killing them or trolling them with rescue. It may have happened in an Alliance Raid but I just didn't see it happen.
Point being, I don't think it's enough of a problem for them to remove it. Especially how satisfying it is when used correctly. Someone thanking you for the rescue always feels great and it's not like you get it pull it off often. Often time I'm too late and all I pull off is that funny death slide that happens. At least their corpse is within raise distance in that case...
I've heard some people accidently use it, but I'm sure in most circumstances that wouldn't lead to a death and maybe just a bit of lost DPS. Nothing a quick "Ooops, didn't mean to use that - sorry!" wouldn't fix. Most people are understanding.
I’ve never come across anyone who misused the Rescue ability. If anything, especially as of late, I have come across healers who have used it successfully and saved me from a sticky situation.
If anyone misuses it for the sake of trolling then just report them. Just make sure it wasn’t a mistake rather than jump to assumptions though.
Still at that point the justification is based around suspension and not fact. From my own personal experience ot seems GM'd prefer hard evidence.
I mean if someone is open about it I could and talk about it in game I could see action being taken, but even if it happens often the intention could be in the right 0lace but execution was poorly timed. If the player frames it is right during questioning it does not seem like an easy thing to prove.
The only issue is that it is not instant as it takes like 2 seconds for the person to be pulled close to you.
It's useful when it works and handy but still meh to me.
I am relieved that so many people are against this curious idea.
A small side note: I see a lot of people grumbling (sometimes rightly) about abusive or faulty rescues.Personally, most of the rescues I see on IG are well used, even if the timing isn't always right. Here, a small adjustment would indeed be welcome: make the skill instantaneous, and try to remove the.... (I don't know how to describe it) disorientation that comes right after, caused by our character automatically turning to the opposite side.
On the other hand: too many people assume that we are using the rescue in a wrong way. They don't even try to understand why we felt the need to press that key. It's rare to do it randomly, simply because you often get yelled at when you use it.
Typical example : the distance dps who is at the other end of the map, and that you bring back by force under your dome... Before seeing him jumping away again. *Facepalm* Oh, joy : another GCD that goes up in smoke and twice as much work for the mass healing phases.
From all the healers who use this ability wisely: we're trying to help you. Stay where I've placed you. Please.
Seen it used more times getting you killed than helping you. They use rescue pull you a cross aoe circle boom your dead. Also seen them use it on a tank durning titan ex just for the healer to be hit by landslide and take out both. Pretty sure we did just fine in 2.0 and 3.0 before it ever existed.
It’s a poor copy of WoW priest’s leap of faith, if it didn’t have like 2 seconds lag when using it it’d maybe would even be worth a slot on your bar.
Another thing is, in WoW it has a clear visual effect, you instantly know what’s going on when a priest pulls you, but in FF this is not the case as it just drags you across the room so you’re left even more clueless if you don’t know what’s you’re doing in a boss fight.
Maybe you should have waited for the tank to take all the aggro before you pulled? Looks like its ur fault.
