As I have said it would be a nice feature to have, but unless said feature is simply a toggle I really do not see why SE should invest time and money into such a feature when the option that would cost them zero time and money. Remove it the dummy when it is not in use. Sure it can get annoying but if it bothers people that much it is a minor annoyance necessary to avoid a personal larger annoyance.

I am no IT guy but just because the system is already in place does not mean a flip of the switch is all that is needed. I am sure lots of different things go into such chances, and as a company they need pick and choose what they fix and focus on. I am sure they would love to address everything change the players have but they have to pick and choose. From that pov do you really think this issue really depends much attention in the grand scheme of things? Especially when that time and money no matter how small can go into figuring out how to expand apartments? Adding extra features is nice, but I would hope as a company they spend time and money on features that would benefit the larger community. Such as working on finding a viable housing option that is suitable for everyone.

In the end tell us why they should focus on this change instead of larger housing related changes? The option would be nice, but currently SE has larger issues they should be trying to resolve when it comes to housing.

Why should we do anything to improve the game at all until X issue is addressed? This is a silly argument.

That logic makes no sense because that would mean they would still have to go to a ward to do it. It would take the same amount of effort to go into the open world and us a dummy there. Or you know, test their rotation on Stone, Sky, Sea, where you'll have some sort of an actual gauge as to if you are doing it right.

You only find it silly because you are looking at it from the viewpoint of a consumer. If you were running a company and limited resources in terms on money and man power. When allocating projects teams should be focusing on which would you focus on? An overreaching problem that has plagued the game for the longest, or QoL changes? In the end if the devs were allowed too I am sure they would love to fix every issue they have with the snap of a finger, but we do not know what they have to deal with in terms of budget and restrictions placed by the higher ups.

Not really if they are sitting checking out items on the MB all they would have to do is take go to a residential area pick a plot that has a dummy then go to town. A lot quicker. Also Stone, sky, sea is a joke using a dummy with a parse is much better way to see if you are doing something right.

I get it the feature would be nice, and do not get me wrong I get annoyed when people use my striking dummy. Here is the thing it is an easy fix just put it away when you are done. Bringing it to the attention of the devs is awesome, and I am glad someone did. But who are we kidding this is not a major issue and when they get around to changing it awesome, but is really that large of an issue? It is annoying sure, but takes steps to avoid the annoyance like many of us have been doing.

Also it might not even be that simple of a fix for them. Maybe they want to make this change but do not have the time to figure out a way to make it so dummies cannot can used but people are still able to water another players plants. Who knows. Making the devs aware is great, but this is a QoL change that honestly can wait but I will be glad when it happens.

Or you could put the dummy away when your not using it.....cause..you know...that's just crazy talk.

If they have time to AFK near a marketboard, they have time to teleport.

You know what would be a simple solution the devs could do? Just place dummies near the apartments. :/

If said QoL change ever happens players will adjust, so until then simply adjust till it happens and remove the dummy when you are not using it.

As long as SE keeps an option for allowing people to, as we have 3 dummies ( on purpose ) on our lawn for all the apt dwellers next door to us, it doesn't bother us one bit and makes things look likely at times since we're usually on hunts or raiding anyways, and when home either crafting or afking somewhere.

Just because of how unidirection SE is with responding they'd simply just remove options vs granting them, given what they did w/ the inventory and more, they don't tend to give things to much thought, so please keep that in mind and others.

Just please put the dummy away when you don't use them because some folks like having people over. I'm not limiting myself to socializing with people from my FC or tenants of our house and I also visit with other people. We like sharing ideas and showing each other game stuff like rotations and whatever. And we can already do so conveniently in our estates. But you wanna remove what we have because you can't find a plot on an island only you can access.

You know full well anyone can use dummies yet you leave them out and get mad about people using it. Please reflect on this behavior. It is madness manifesting itself.

The reason why my fc has a mansion and why we decorated it the way we did is because we want visitors to come and see our house and come hang out with us. Housing wards are supposed to be a social hub and quite frankly I wish they were more a social hub than they are now. With new housing, the wards feel empty and lonely and id rather see more people. And who cares if they use your striking dummy, is this really the biggest problem you can think of. Get over it.

You definitely aren't alone my husband and I have a medium and I love random people checking out our house and enjoying it. That's, kinda why it's there?

That's quite a haphazard generalization to make. Part of enjoying the house is utilizing the furnishings supplied with it, and I personally wouldn't mind strangers coming up to view (and use) whatever was on my property. I mean, if you were really proud of how you decorated your lot, wouldn't you want to show it off to people? Instead of closing off the pixels to everyone else and throwing a huge fit if they step one foot into your lawn. I personally love seeing the creative ideas that people come up with, when it comes to how they choose to decorate. */shrugs*

...that's actually a pretty good idea. If nothing else, such an option could expand gardening options.

Ohh this would be nice! I share a house with a friend and he likes to have the striking dummy out although I personally don't want it there at all. Sometimes I like to craft in my yard and there used to be these people around who would always come into our yard and use the dummy. It was super irritating... I'd just be trying to craft in peace and suddenly I get a barrage of "HAAA!!! HYAAAAA!!! HEEEEH!!!" and flashy lights and explosions in my face. I'm too nice to say gtfo though so I ended up trying to subtly hint that it irritated me by saying playful things like "What did the dummy ever do to you? Leave it alone!" But of course they didn't get the hint. ^^;;; They were very nice people otherwise though. I just hate the battle voice and animation spam in my yard while Im trying to craft.

I don't mind the people who come sit around or walk in my yard though. I worked hard to decorate it and it makes me happy that people come by and even tell me they love my yard. But the striking dummy part is just blehhhhhh. I'd get rid of it in a heartbeat if my friend wasn't insistent on it being there.

My latest tale of someone at my house. L 38 starts chit-chatting me up and although I am wary of people being too friendly out of the blue, I start telling him about what I like here, etc. He follows me to my house, I show him around and some of his questions/comments are as follows:

Are you a female? How old are you? Do you have a hot tub? Do you look like your avatar? He says, "I do, I am old with one leg but the body looks the same". (He whips off clothes). At that time I say I have to make dinner and will be out a while. He stays and talks to himself for like 45 min in my yard and says he will be taking a bath and knock before I come in. I think he got the gtfo msg when I returned and said I share my house with my hubby.

This is why my friend list has 8 people after 2 yrs and my blacklist is legendary lol. Gimme instanced housing plz and ty.

There's nothing about my lawn to attract folks. Its a lawn full of foliage and a little sparkle. No benches, dummies sauna, or lounges. I also have thankfully never caught anyone doing anything naughty in my house like some folks have.

I've never had this issue, but mostly because the only time I only really had a house was in the 21/51 plot of Goblet, which is so insanely remote from nearly everything that I barely even had neighbors or even friends, let alone strangers, come to visit or even use my target dummy outside (not like it was used much anyway since all my friends who'd ever come over were healers).

When I do get a house again, I'd still have no problem welcoming people to it, provided of course that visitors are Lala-friendly. The same would apply to using my target dummy too.

I'd be more than happy to have people on my lawn, in my house, I've put a lot of work into it, I want to show it off, if that means people use my striking dummy, so be it.

Maybe for the antisocial few that own homes, the lock out feature might be better suited at the gate rather than the front door.

I really don't want to take any sides here, but I wouldn't exactly call it antisocial if some people don't want strangers to ERP in your hot tubs or make fighting noise in your lawn all day long (and I _don't_ mean polite people who actually come to visit and/or look at your house because they are interested in it).
If you like that kind of stuff, so be it. Just don't always expect others to feel the same way. :P

The sense of entitlement from some people where they think they have a RIGHT to use someone else's property.... Kids are not being raised properly by their parents, and it is sad to see.

This isn't real life. Our characters don't need their house to store necessary items, for shelter or for physical privacy. The houses are the property of Square Enix, the lawns a part of the open world, so players who have paid to access the servers can parkour wherever they want including those lawns and rooftops and use whichever training dummies they see fit. It's also impossible to break into a FFXIV house to erp in the bathtub and whatnot. Whoever's in there has been allowed in by the owner.

The level of pettiness in this thread is astonishing. If someone is in your crafting spot / on your lawn / too close to your character, holy heavens get over it. And I certainly don't agree with this request to stop non-tenants from interacting with the training dummy I deliberately put in my garden.

This kind of attitude is why society is not as healthy as it use to be. This sense of entitlement from people to abuse what others worked for, or think they have a right to it... Online or not, this is the thought process of a child. Nothing more. Then again, I was taught at an early age from adults, to respect others' property that was not my own. Something that I have noticed, has not been instilled in younger generations in the same way.

Our FC has people all over come and smack our training dummies. It’s nice to have company :)
