You still shouldn't say things like that if you want people to take you seriously. Even if he's attacking you like that.

I still think your "Im too good for this" attitude is whats bothering people. These may not be the best animations under the sun...but damn it is a hell of alot better than most of what we have now.

Doomspike II was pretty good but that is one of how many?

Last thing you should do in this thread is be a downer just because SE did not drop your jaw.

i kind of dont really care to be honest. people are gonna rage about their own opinions all the time in forums.

my opinions are just as valid as anyone elses. ive been playing MMOs for years now. all kinds. im a gamer as well and i hate that my friends would rather play games like WoW, Rift and star wars and complain about how tired they get of them yet laugh at the very thought of things such as this games battle system and battle UI. it actually is a terrible thing that we cant keybind spells to letter keys. this game goes against the grain so much that its frustrating because im one of the few people on this planet that will look past all these clunky set ups just so i can have a gawk at my character once in a while.

i have a lot of faith in this new team and so i was dissapointed that the WS do not meet up to FFXI standards since thats the only other MMO that likes to take advantage of long animation locks. my original criticism wasnt even that harsh but oh well.

how much of a downer was i? all i said was that they were kinda boring but i also said in more than one post that i liked MNKs spinning but that i was expecting more glow and sparkles. lol. i dont see how much of a downer i was. some bitch got catty with me and i got catty back. even in my cattyness i wasnt much of a downer on the WSs because all i said was that they lacked flashyness which FFXI gives.

I think the Monk 1 is fine. Its kinda nice how they used motion capture for it. I personally want to see Lancer, Blackmage, Whitemage and Dragoon Weapon skills.

i thought WHM and BLM were just getting spells. i didnt see any actual weapon skills. DRG looks to be getting a handful though from the list. MNK it looks like only actually gets 1, the rest looked to be buffs and effects.
im really curious as to what the BRD animations are gonna look like. i really hope they arent just second wind type animations.

The move is AWESOME!!!!

Are they the most amazingly astounding animations of awesomeness to ever spring forth from SE? No. Are they a whole hell of a lot better than what we have now? Absolutely. It's a step in the right direction and that's what's important. Liking them doesn't mean you have low standards, it means you can enjoy the small things that show progress.

Personally, I enjoy over-the-top animations.

Sure, the "realistic" ultra motion cap stuff is cool in terms of quality, but I can see that being too costly and boring in the long run.

Look at Final Fantasy Dissidia, very over the top in the combat.

The person that posted the video forgot to turn off comments like all their other videos.

I don't know about all of them, but i'm pretty sure one of the release notes was talking about animation and effect reforms starting from 1.21

I love the monk feather. It'll make me feel like Sun Wukong from monkey king.

WAR is bland.

The Monk moves were quite excellent in my opinion... and it cleverly adheres to the unique core theme of the job class; which is that it is a martial arts class that has it's foundation in the Pugalist style. Thus, I'd say two thumbs way up SE.

The Warrior skill was also nice but somehow seems ordinary... as if we've seen it all before in almost any MMO game. I think it would have had a bit more edge to it if when he landed, the ground did a minor AOE earthquake or dust-raise sorta deal.

Either way, great videos and I look forward to the Dragoon and Black mage skills.

when you use a weponson kill why does the screen turn dark and the target lights up? i think it looks cool but it seems to delay the weapon skill. did they add it to "mask" the delay when using WS:s??

This was added by tanaka to make weapon skills look "cooler". It was pretty sweet at first but after you've seen it for so long you don't really notice it that often. Though yes, it probably was to mask the delay, considering before it was worse.

I think the darkness effect on weaponskills should be removed, they get annoying lol

Thanks, wasn't particularly sure if it was all or not. Though it's good to know that from Feb forward we will have some better looking animations.

I feel like they need to watch Aang from Avatar to get some inspiration.

And I don't mean the horrific movie.

I think that a string of animations via combos would have been more effective, ie First WS (punch) + combo (leg sweep) + next combo (back flip kick)

At least the player could control the animation lock a little better then.

Everyone runs out, and the MNK is in the middle twirling on the floor, at least he looks cool. right ?

Or you know, you could time it after a monster skills considering the animation lock isn't that long and the combo bonus is definitely worth it.

I'm not saying animation lock is a good thing, just that people are making it out to be worse than it actually is.

nobody complained about animation lock in ffxi when a monk would use asuran fists on Kirin an pull agro during the animation and git deadly hold or tail smash in the face caus you cant run away durin ws.

is that 2.0 graphic's?

it looks the same as 1.0 graphics. why?

We stop complaining because we already know it's something that will soon be in the past. If lock alleviation does not come to fruition in the future like they said, that's something to complain over.

It's like someone getting your In and Out order wrong and as they are preparing your new food you complain to them the whole time about how pickles are disgusting and -UGH the taste is still in your mouth!. MMMM In and Out Burger.

Those weaponskills look pretty darn cool, even if the war one is very storms path ish.

Not sure if it's been mentioned already, but it doesn't look any longer in duration than what Chaos Thrust does.
