Get rid of jumping puzzle in Kugane

Edit: I am so sorry. After doing this myself I somewhat agree with OP. Getting to the top of the tower should have been where the sightseeing point is. That alone was enough of a pain, given all the invisible walls in this game. Jumping off onto the lamp post is just poor game design. Apparently SE didn't learn a thing from the player reaction to the notoriously shitty North Shroud jump.

Challenging is one thing, but this kind of indifference to the limitations of the game in regards object hitboxes and precise positioning is just atrocious design.

I don't think it needs to be removed but both jumping and the collision on the tower could use reworking because it was far stressful than it needed to be. I spent two days and only got about 3/4 of the way up because of the lack of control with jumps or just smacking into an invisible wall that shouldn't be there.

Eventually my Eternal Bond partner took pity on me and marriage ported to where I was before going the rest of the way up so I could port to him. As it is, my mom (who also plays) refuses to get this sightseeing point even though she's gotten nearly all the others on her own.

At least SB ones are possible to complete, even if difficult. I'm still stuck doing ARR ones and one of them is totally bugged. Or you just have to be extremely lucky. If it is bugged, there's a chance it won't be fixed. Either way, I'll be salty for all eternity and cursing these logs on my deathbed.

This is actually what I did haha ;P I tried it myself for a while but I simply suck at jump challenges and I just don't have the patience for them. All I wanted was that sightseeing log for XP and completion. I did make numerous screenshots while I was up there though, knowing i'd probably never get to go back there again :P

Are you talking about the North Shroud logs? If so, there's a well known trick to it.

Nah, I'm talking about the one in the Leatherworkers' Guild. Log #9, I believe. A friend and I tried for hours and hours to get the jump right, but we can't make it. The closest I've gotten was stuck on the edge, but I immediately fell. Used peloton, sprint, video guides, moving and trying angles every which way. Nothing. The only solution I've received was "lower your fps" but I'm on a PS4.

Now, I'm sure you've probably cleared the puzzle by now. But let me tell you, it took me 3 months and encouragement from my FC to make it to the top. I've scaled twice now and the second time up was alot easier than the first. It's tricky as hell, yes. The odd hitboxes don't help, yes. But it's so freaking rewarding to know you had the drive to reach the top.

I triumphantly landed on the lamp recently, it was awesome. I loved it.

I do agree the invisible corners in the jumping are pretty dumb though. One piece of advice I can give to people doing the puzzle, let go of forward after you are in the air and moving, it doesn't make you move faster after the initial jump and may make you walk off instead of stopping where you land.

Even that I didn't manage to climb up the tower I still have a lot of fun doing that kind of jumping puzzles. They're hard, and sometimes annoying but it goes the same for adventures games when the biggest rewards are hiding on such annoying jumping contest.

My only gripe about the jumping "puzzle," which is just linear enough that I have to question the use of the word, is the gratuitous invisible walls at a few points that make a few jumps more difficult and precise (along the out edges of hitboxes no less) than they actually need to be. They're not impossible, and I'm often enjoying teaching new people how to climb at a few points, but those walls...

Aside from that, more jumping courses please!

I didn't clear Savage content so let's remove it.
I didn't clear Extremes let's remove them as well.
I didn't lvl up all jobs to 70. Let's remove some of them as well.

Seems like the era of smartphone games, DLC's and wallet games really had an effect on gaming's community mindset.

Then why did you do it? It sounds to me like you're complaining about something just for the sake of complaining. You don't have to do it, so why would you do it just to complain? I haven't even done the jump puzzles because they don't appeal to me, funny how that works.

Is this like the Twilight Zone or something?

Agreed with the OP entirely jump puzzles belong in platformer games which actually have tight jumping controls. the jumping controls in FFXIV suck badly and whoever thought it was a good idea to put jump puzzles in this game should probably be fired or at least reprimanded.

But... Why? It's optional content, no one's forcing you to do it. It doesn't hinder your gameplay at all. And clearly there are people who enjoyed it, based on the past 14 pages.

This is reminiscent of the FFXV forums when the Pitioss Ruins were discovered.

I myself love jumping puzzles, but SE isnt really great at making them. It is, however, fun and more of it should be implemented.

I just dont understand the whining and need to change anything that requires more than staring at your screen to get an achievment or accomplishment

Wouldnt a better suggestion be to add a teleport crystal at the top and those that climbed there can unlock a teleport location. This would reward players, instead of removing content.

But then you would still get a lot of people complaining that they can't access that crystal because they can't make the jumps.

Nah keep it in. It took me a lot of time to get to those bath tubs and I fealt like a total boss. My greatest accomplishment as a ninja. Do no remove it. Or else....

I tried for roughly 3 hours a few weeks ago and got almost to the top, but kept failing at one spot. I'll probably never be able to get to the top and that sucks but it is what it is lol Keep it in for the people who can do it and enjoy doing it.

Because completing the sightseeing log is locked behind it, so getting up there and on the lamppost wasn's something completely optional/ignorable for me like the Rhalgr's reach or Shirogane lighthouse one

I finally gave up as they don't offer anything of worth and I have other ways to keep busy. If the painting rewards were in color I might be will to try again but for sepia meh. I wouldn't mind more jumping puzzles if SE would fix the poor jumping controls and lag effect but until they do I'd rather they spend their time fixing the game than adding new puzzles.

Please don't! I am still trying to do it. In fact, I'm making another attempt right now. But I will say, I would like the hitboxes and stuff to be adjusted and fixed! Some are just so big they are larger then the surface you're standing on. Like so!

So if anything, SE just needs to make some adjustments to the tower. Most of it is doable, but there are parts that are just super stressful not due to challenge but crappy hitboxes. :(

Funny. I had no issues doing it after an hour or so. Perhaps you should, I dunno, practice instead of whining. I really hate this attitude people have lately. "I can't do something or it shouldn't be in the game!!!!!!" How dare you have to practice in lieu of having everything handed to you.

I would really love the option to not see the sightseeing points, or selected sightseeing points. I don’t mind them being there for people that enjoy them, but I don’t like the visual clutter.

I've made it to the top once and then never again. the game clearly just wasn't made with platforming in mind. Remove it? I don't think it should be removed it's fine for what it is, but I wouldn't dismiss the idea of it being taken out of the sight seeing log. it should be a challenging thing you do simply for fun/the view, and nothing more really.

If the game played more like GW2 though then the only answer would be to git gud.

FFXI had a story required hike up the side of a very steep mountain with a tiny ledge that branched off in different directions, it is nice to see things like this.

I would love it if you were actually encouraged to think about more things in xiv

My only problem was when they put an extra one on top of that brown thing on ground level, and the only way to get to it was by jumping off the very top of the building in a very specific way.

Still did it with some marriage ring abuse, though. You aren't entitled to complete everything in the game if you aren't good enough to do so, get over it.

I should have guessed someone would try to be clever and call that part out, even though it was only used to save time. I got up there twice on my own and we were just using rings to figure out how to jump down to the brown thing, hence why I said I had a problem with that one in particular, because it doesn't really tell you how you're supposed to jump down to it.

This was part of the New Years Q&A, I think? Some asked Yoshi-P for this option, and he said he hadn't thought of it, no one at the dev team considered players wanting the option!

So, the devs know we want the option, at the very least.

I am 100% positive that the post you're responding to was a joke lol

I m extremely bad in jumping and even more in jumping puzzles. It took me 3 hours to get near the top and one jump ruined my progress completely. But another day, it took me about 30 minutes to get on top of the tower and this feeling was great.

Thanks to the eternal bond, my ingame husband managed to make the very last jump successfull (Lalafells seems to be more aerodynamic in my opinion), so it was totally worth it.

I know, the tower can be very tough and frustrating (especially the last jumps), but it actually means something to reach the top of the tower. I m gonna hate myself for the next few words, but: I want more of that!

The random invisible walls were the only thing I hated about the jump puzzle.

As long as they address this issue, I wouldn't mind seeing more of them.
