Incentive to transfer must be increased

While my bf and I did move, and I was the one who initiated that idea, I can totally empathize with people who don't want to because of long time communities. That's what this type of gaming should be about. Our gaming community is coming -in-, so moving made sense for us. We had only been back for a month and had not gotten involved with any FCs or anything in that time, so aside from one friend--that we chat with on Discord regularly and whom we really only do dungeons or POTD with in game anyway--we had nothing to lose. Others do, and while their determination to stay might not be the best for SE's server makeup, it is the cornerstone of a decent person within an MMO community.

Honestly I just hope the server transfer to Balmung opens up soon. While I have enjoyed my time on Siren, it is a painfully small server and I really want to be able to RP more; and with Balmung being the designated RP community (unofficial or otherwise) being constantly locked tight, I don't know of any other servers with the same kind of large, varied community.

I think things will start settling down on Balmung eventually. I just wish in the meantime they would grant those who are on the server a free jump and story boost so they can enjoy the game elsewhere until things clear up. Yes, you may miss the community a bit, but you'll at least be able to play the game until such a time that you can continue playing your main. They should clear all the dormant accounts next time and relocate them to other places to help make sure this doesn't happen again.

Why would they do that when you can transfer your main for free and play it right now? Also, if the account is dormant, its not affecting your queues lol. its the 18000 other people who want to log in to the server at the same time.

Mostly because if someone xfers off balmung they are never getting back on that doom train. I highly doubt the server will ever be opened up for transfers again unless a miracle happens and the post expansion dip somehow puts the active populace just under the acceptable threshold.

Well, then in that case you will just have to deal with the queues. they want people off the server, they arent going to give you free jump potions lol.

After reading some of this thread all I really have to say is...

There are Balmung memes and stereotypes for a reason. Thank you for adhering to and supporting them.

I ended up moving last night from Gilga. Coeurl was locked and Mateus had 0 houses (in the Goblet no less) so went over to Goblin. Purchased myself a nice medium house which feels so enormous after having my former small.

Duty Finder and, especially, cross-world party finder helped greatly in my decision. Without them I would have not moved.

Welcome to Goblin. Glad to have you, and glad that you saw there was no reason in being so inflexible about moving.

I've been with Zalera since I've joined the game and its one of the incentive servers where folks get bonuses just to transfer over to. We have seen such a massive influx of players that want nothing to do with us and rather just come in and form their own mini-[server] community its bewildering that the request for a 'better incentive' would even be requested.

We small server players aren't getting anything out of this really asside from being used for our fc buffs then discarded like used tissue.

Transferring would be considerably more attractive/less horrid if the following things were to be put in place: Cross-World Linkshells/FCs/Tells/Friendslists, designated areas without duty-timers that cross-world party members could gather and hang out (NOT Duties, social zones). Simply put, we need better IN GAME ways for keeping in touch with our friends.

Blizzard has been trying to make free transfers work for years and it hasn't worked yet, for a pretty obvious reason. I'll just repost the post I made on another thread.

Square Enix needs to offer incentives for entire communities to transfer, not just individuals.

An RP designation on a new server is one such incentive that would encourage an entire community to transfer.

MMOs are social games. They are built and sustained around communities. The idea that gil and chocobo feathers and less queue times are enough incentive fails to acknowledge this fact. If you're an individual or solo player, then hell yeah, those incentives are great! But for anything more than an individual player or a player with a small group of friends, they're wholly inadequate.

SE doesn't need to recognize this as a social game, the transfers are there for those who want to get into game. If you don't want to move, fine, but then don't complain you have to wait 2 hours to get into game when you can transfer for free.

Sorry, but your whole "I RP, so I deserve better special treatment to get me to transfer," is utter BS.

If you're not part of the solution, then you are most certainly part of the problem.

Nobody is complaining about the existence of queue times, because queue times are a necessary measure due to hardware limitations.

The reason why queue times are being brought up now is because these congestion problems have existed for years. People have been suggesting solutions to Balmung and Gilgamesh for years. If we want a long-term solution to be implemented, now is the time to be banging on about it when the most people are affected.

No they have not. I was on Balmung all through HW and after the launch died down there was no problem. I would log on with maybe a 25 person que that was nearly instant anyway.

Balmung has been restricted almost since its inception. Anyone with any amount of foresight could have seen that this problem would reach critical mass eventually.

The 3-hour queues are temporary. They'll die down as people get into the daily routine and log off more often.

That doesn't remove the point that this congestion issue should have and should be dealt with sooner rather than later.

If you really think logging off and adding this recent function is going to stop the congestion of 2-3 hour queues, then you are far off from being right.

I will probably see this queue gate happening for another 3 months, in fact - should the housing patch comes in play in Balmung.

(I really should consider buying housings from other preferred worlds at this point.)

I was on balmung since my old account on 1.0

I loved that server. If it weren't for the entirety of my rl friends deciding that we would leave together then I'd stay, hour long ques or otherwise. Lol. They could have offered a free year of play to transfer and I'd have stayed.

I didn't care about transfer rewards, que times, nothing. I wouldn't have moved.

Something I will miss from balmung is the lack of Gil selling shouts lol.

Moved to a nice little small server and I've seen more shouts in the week I've been here than I think I have my entire play time on balmung

Anti AFK abuse aside, Balmung is PACKED. We've seen server-wide messages to offer to transfer to another server for free! But why would you?

My idea is, give everyone on servers open for free transfers a buff that will effect high/max level players. Perhaps a tomestone increase, discounts from shops/repairs, mount speed, a discount on houses, GAME TIME. Nothing that will make the game easier gameplay wise but also something that actually benefits existing characters enough to encourage people to transfer en-mass with all of their friends and guilds.

They are already getting pretty good rewards.

If you find the crowd a bother - you have a self-remedy. Rather than complain, use it yourself.

I cant say ive seen that many gil shouts, but then, i moved shouts and yells to another tab when i was on balmung because the inane crap that people spewed was annoying

You know how they deal with normal congestion? They offer world transfers for money of course. The option has always been there. If you don't take it, it is saying that you are OK with the congestion.

My FC leader doesn't want to transfer. By the time they add big bonus' for FC transfers, I bet all large housing (outside of goblet) will be taken on the formally low pop servers, so there's zero chance my leader will budge.
