I'm calming down about this. Nice to see fast response from the community team and a promise to improve the quest. It seems like the worst trolling players were reported by multiple people so this event might lead to some bad eggs being weeded out which is great too.
There was a good heap of griefing on my server at the beginning, but with some proper leadership and a group willing to listen, things can happen.

Plenty of non-Japanese players have the ability to work together without being selfish jerks. It's just a few that make the rest of us look bad.
It started off crazy at first but folks figured its better to work together orderly pending any hot fix.
A couple of folks volunteered to pose to indicate where the head of the queue (pretty awesome!):

This is the queue:

It would also be nice to have the ability to sync to the level of the bombs or have some high level ones also for those of us that only have high levels on their character. Feels weird to have to go find a low level weapon to do a quest.
I was able to get the quest done without much trouble on Ultros. A person did run up and kill one of my bombs but only once.
I'm having more trouble getting credit on the FATEs consistently (particularly the first one where the bombs all spawn in a pile and are immediately mowed down) but that'll get easier as the day 1 rush dies down.
The biggest crew up imo is how we are training the rangers. One we convince that playing with fire is good, the next we convince that binge eating frozen treats and non-stop exercise is god tier, and that last we lure into a false sense of ability. We are literally teaching them how to be worse.
I havn't even started yet but if the issue is to many people, come back later like its been said. More of a no brainer than something to complain about.
Didn't have much trouble with any quest or fate, finished things up rather quick, got one lamp, all the emotes and music scroll, not interested in the look of the gear. :)
in all fairness considering the lack of representation we do see by the dev (zero) or forum moderators (minimal) on here I doubt the amount of threads makes a difference.
I agree we should all try to post in one area just for consistency!!! but as for its results being better?...meh.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
how they doing it in toneberry, the queue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0DfOlUQHHI
if it was not for my friends and my connection , i would totaly be in that server...
The last we had to line up like that for a quest was a glitched quest in beta....
Give it couple days, a week at most (since event goes till the 25th) and it will be dead and easy pickings.
I've managed to complete the whole questline in 30 minutes...
Most people didn't realize that you have to be the one landing the first hit in order to be able to capture them.
My server's Eastern La Noscea has been a mess ever since the event started.
I bet they are still annoying each other on the field.
I'm glad to see the devs apologised at least and are working to fix the issue but it still needs to be pointed out that you guys designed this very poorly. Learn your lesson next time people do shitty things to other people think these things though.
Another reason why I ignore that Power-Ranger (NOT Summer-event!) Event! >_>
Tonberry lined up all civil like - so I was done in moments.
My enthusiasm for this game is starting to fade. I don't mean to sound like I'm whining but as someone who loves to collect things in the games I choose to invest in I'm really starting to grow weary. The UK campaign for the special mount and glamour set was handed incredibly poorly and I'm still waiting to hear back from the magazine company after buying an issue that had no code within it. The Yo-Kai event revolves around one of the most tedious bits of content in the game. Why not simply reward the legendary medals as a guaranteed drop at the end of a dungeon roulette? That would at least add some variety.
Then today I find that the developers didn't even account for griefing in the latest seasonal event. It should have been obvious that there would be a huge turnout on a server like Balmung...let alone that selfish players would screw people over out of spite. Sure, they plan to fix it but the fact that they didn't account for such a thing in the first place is rather troublesome.
The only fix I see with this is to open up more areas where these things spawn. Other than that, just wait till later. Thing is going to last for a month so..
It is the sign of an experienced developer to foresee issues caused by recurring player behaviour and take appropriate measures - it's plain and simple learning from mistakes. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. And a zerg at events really is nothing new. Neither is reward maximization, which is why SE just recently had to change the way PotD upgrades work. I, at least, sure hope they'll learn from that, because otherwise they'll keep doing the same mistakes expecting different results - insanity.
In this case, I'd say it'd be as simple as to make the whole thing function like a leve-quest - you go to the area, pop the quest, tab your way through the masses to find your target, which, as leve targets are wont to do, is not attack-able by other players, and then proceed. Not only would that have fixed the issue of bombs being slaughtered, it would also have fixed the issue of 60s one-hitting the mobs, as leves can be scaled.
Who let the bombs out is pretty frustrating when you manage to tag a bomb but 20+ overgeared people kill it in one shot lol hope they fix that ._.
I'm at like, 3 fps near the quest giver, I'll wait a couple days
Yeah.. when I did this quest last night, most of the time, there was one guy jumping around, deliberately one-shotting everything and provoking people further through shouts. His excuse was that he wasn't the first one to do it.
It only takes one person to ruin it for everyone.
After he stopped, some people had a chance to get some credit. Most people are nice. New people come in and don't realize one-shotting is a thing, but just asking them to use a smaller weapon or whatnot is enough.
Personally, I don't understand why the bombards weren't at least designed like the Zahar'ak Hatchlings. When they're hurt enough that normally they would've been killed, they sit prone on the ground for a while with fixed health, giving you a chance to use your quest item on them. So even if you could one-shot them, you still have a chance.
From what I have seen the problem is most people do not realize they can't use their high level DoW/DoM gear and weapons to weaken them. When tell them to switch to DoL or DoH, even switch to low level weapon etc they seem willing to do so. Most people killing them are doing so out of ignorance rather than trolling though some are killing out of spite.
