I don't disagree with people having an opinion. And frankly there are plenty of these types of threads hating on everything that ever is produced ever.

The OP is drowning in a sea of salt.

Personally this will never leave my side on my au ra mage

And I honestly may glamor a couple of these weapons.
I know nothing about yokai watch but I am always up for new things to play around with.
Don't you dare claim to be the authority on who is and is not a Final Fantasy fan OP, especially while you claim to be one in the middle of an absurd temper tantrum that makes you look like a five year old that needs a time out and an incredibly long cool down hug.
It's one thing to be upset about something that you do not like, or to want the game to stay "pure" it is another thing entirely to spend 13~ pages raging about it to the point of entirely alienating even the people who may otherwise agree with your opinion by coming across as a toxic player who should reevaluate why you play games to begin with if an optional event is so anger inducing.
Well, i likem.
Except that's not what Yoshi-P said, his words were that they wouldn't allow people to glamour as classes they are not to prevent trolling (that is, a PLD wearing BLM armor pretending to be a DPS, or a THM wearing PLD armor walking into a FATE spamming Flash and Provoke saying "I got this!").
Except that this was announced MONTHS ago during a Live Letter, it was a very big deal, the creator of Youkai Watch was there and asked Yoshi-P some questions.Quote:
Don't like it's addition myself, it's advertisement content put in place because Pokémon Go is creaming the market.
Honestly, we're talking around in circles, most of us agree that the event is a silly little thing that we're not forced to do, the designs are sort of cartoony and there are those who like them and those who don't. The OP feels it breaks his immersion and no bikini-clad female Au Ra tanking Sastasha with a slab of rock is gonna change his mind, it affects the rest of us as much as my Warrior of Light changing race and genders every 3 months affects him. The reason most of us got riled up about it was the "no true scotsman" fallacy about it, that essentialy insults every player that likes to do these events or doesn't think like him.
Also, someone mentioned "2 months of Fate grind" that I really don't understand where the comment is coming from...
I think what I everyone here is missing is my interpretation of "immersion and lore".
I don't care what it is. No matter what. No matter how stupid it is.
So long as it is a prevelant part of the final fantasy universe.
I don't care if it's silly. I don't care if it's out of place.
All I care about is whether it's related to Final Fantasy or not.
I just can't wait until event comes out people get new weapons, people glamour for a few days then no one uses the minions or weapons anymore. Always happens lol.
Whether the event is related to the Final Fantasy franchise or not. If you don't approve it, don't participate in it-no one's forcing you to.
THEN DON'T PARTICIPATE. No one is holding a gun to your head demanding you to do the event. I'm not into the anime but I like a few of the weapons.
Ahhh so much salt in this topic. https://static-cdn.jtvnw.net/emoticons/v1/36/1.0
It may not have been related to Final Fantasy.
But it will be now.
There will be a relationship between Youkai Watch, the characters, the weapons, etc and Final Fantasy.
This relationship will be undoubtedly developed and refined through dialogue and quests.
I very highly doubt the management will simply put these items / minions / FATEs into the world with absolutely zero explanation or lore.
There is no way.
Easter is not a part of FF Franchise either. Nor Christmas. Nor Valentine's day. Nor Halloween.
But it was added to the game.
I didn't participate in any of the seasonal events because they didn't interest me. But I did accept one of the quests once. There was a lengthy explanation about it.
They will be incorporated into the world through lore and story and a relationship will be built.
Santa Claus wasn't always related to Christmas. But he is now. And the world did not end.
Things change. It's okay.
"I don't like <insert anything> in this game therefore NO ONE should be allowed to do it."
It's just a cross-promotional event in a game that is really silly in nature. We literally had several events like this before.
I, for one, am going to like this event. I love the way SE incorporates completely otherworldly stuff into their universe. There's a story behind everything.
I'm eager to see what story they come up with for Yokai Watch.
Also, can we please see Shantotto again? I've never played FF11, but just from that event a couple years ago, I already love her to death.
I don't feel it will affect immersion any worse than moogle weapons or the tank for my duty showing up in a bra, panties, and bunny ears.
I've never heard of it and don't really care >.> all I know is I think my boyfriends mom who runs a day care puts this on TV for the 1-3 year olds she watches.
When I showed one of them the event page they got excited.
Remember the silly dragon quest event with the slime hats and the wind up brick men? Look how much that destroyed the immersion in the game permenantly
I disagree with people complaining for complainings sake which is how a lot of these topics get started. I think in these forums I have a general generational disconnect. My goodness the event isn't even out yet and it could be a fun thing, why poop on it. My original post was agreeing with something someone else posted about feeling the same way. So feel free to hen peck my posts. The OP was not happy bc of the immersion and here we are 15 pages later with everyone under the sun talking about other instances with complete lack of immersion. But ok you win!
Hey Mr OP just imagine that there's a break between dimensions or something or the void spit out theses guys because they're annoying or something. Remember lore doesn't have to be connected to everything.
What's next? Pokemons are gonna be in Eorzea?
Update:

Is this immersive enough?
(if I owned the moogle slippers, I would be wearing them)
People are walking around in underwears in Ishgard and having pom poms as fucking mounts with a big muscular Roe riding on them and not to mention.... I'm wearing a fucking gown to fight the Evil Dragon with an axe that's not even from Eorzea.................................................................
People would complain about ANYTHING these days.
It was a quest that appeared twice in 2.0-2.1, so this was back in 2013-2014. So, it's not really surprising that you haven't heard of or seen them anywhere recently. I think I've linked to all of the past promotional events below.

ok /10characters
so all i got was "MAH IMMURSIONS I AM REAL FAN REAL FAN I TELLS YOU! NUH NUH I NUH LIKES THIS"
2 things
1 grow up it's a MMORPG theres going to be cross promotions and you have said minions are easter eggs WELL I GUESS THEESE 13 MINIONS ARE EASTER EGGS THEN.
and 2) if this is what ruins a game for you then what are you playing a mmorpg in all technicallity valintines day and christmas (and there eorzian counter parts) are just shoehorned versons of real life events , since the story is litteraly just santa claus and saint vallintines, which for some people is 'immersion braking' sometimes with games with a long life you need little things out of it to give the player a brake and something new to look at
also this isnt the first time they have done this, look at ff13-2 where you had to PAY FOR A CROSS OVER DLC with mass effect.
i'm normaly more calm and collected but ALL i have seen for the last few months is non stop complaining it is just irritating now. why does noone play a game to have fun anymore.
I guess the OP has not seen one of my saviors of Eorzea...this heroic warrior of light running around with her trusty sidekick Mr Piggy.
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g2...016_134230.png
...or one of my other heroes of Eorzea flying around on his giant dandelion mount or rocket feet propelled spinning turtle mount.
I kinda get it. It's what happens when players put certain games on these over the top, soaring over the heavens type of pedestals. So high and free of taint the games remain pure white virgins for the rest of existence in their hopes and dreams. Until the game gets a blemish in their eyes and they want to lock it in a room away from the world so it doesn't happen again.
Games, especially MMO's can't remain a virgin forever, less it becomes a wallflower, enjoys repeating the same conversations, not very fun at parties either! Games eventually do have to open up, take off the white dress and decide eggshell is a better color for the sake of showing it had a little fun now and then.
The same goes for the person you were replying to, I just happened to see your response and not his/hers. Sorry of you feel like I picked on it.
I just find it annoying when people have a problem with others disliking something and always pull out the whine card. Obviously this thread is way out of hand now, but I was speaking in general. There's so many people who will come on someone's thread and just tell them to stop complaining when whoever created it is allowed to be disappointed over something if they don't like it.
It's even worse when people bring the whole community into it as though this one player created every negative thread on the front page.
I cant't believe there is really a forum for this. Many games do this and the most popular one is Maplestory and Mabinogi. Mabinogi did something with SAO and Maplestory did something with AoT. A Korean game known as Elsword Online collabs with famous KPOP idols and groups and it still manages to keep the game fun and exciting. I don't understand why a simple event with Yokai Watch makes you so salty? Events like this bring in revenue for the game the other party so it is a win-win.
For the record, I've played Elsword, and the game is in a very sorry state at the moment with the over emphasis on sell-outs and advertising. The most notorious was the character announcement for Rose, and the only (reasonable) reactions from the people whoere in that live event were utter silence. It doesn't become fun or exciting when they keep adding fluff events rather than addressing game issues in regards to balance (especially when they heavily promote the PvP scene).
Having these sort of things is fine in moderation, but it shouldn't get to the point that it influences the direction of the game. They even had the original trio's transform job stances be modeled after K-pop idols, and the result was that they all had more-or-less the same poses that feels awkward on some of them, and misleading to their character growth.
i havent played NA elsword in a long time and i dont plan on going back anytime soon. kr elsword has to come up with event/dungeons and more gameplay now since they basically ended the whole story of the game not too long ago. i believe that na elsword is dying slowly but they keep rushing things so people would stay stuck to the game and play more.
The state of KR isn't any much better to be honest (excluding RMT and economic issues). Those events continue to pump enhancement items that further exasperate the power-creep nature of equipment; everyone ends up blazing through dungeons effortlessly with mounts and +8 (or higher) from events, unless the entire party is using +6s (and that's assuming they aren't using some of the OP'd characters). The PvP scene is also a joke with the lack of balancing, the aforementioned enhancements, and the stubborn need to keep introducing new characters and hold PvP tournaments (Which factors said enhanced equipment, so the actual matches itself becomes a joke).
Back on topic though; It's not the case in FFXIV in regards to the power creep, but it is losing the sense of the "FFXIV identity" that I played for back in 2.0. It's become less of that and more of a fantasy kitchen sink with all the wacky additions and direction of content. I'd be fine with silly things like Hildibrand because that's the exception, and it's a nice redirect from the usual fare. I'm not fine with things like that being the usual fare, because it feels like it even takes away from Hildibrand content if it's no longer the exception.
