What's with people saying Yokai-Watch looks out of place?

You wanna know what was use to Justify crossovers with XIII and Gilgamesh's appearance. Something that goes by the title of "The Void". With that said I want to know if there is a limit in place on what that multiverse can contain. For all we know such a multiverse would involve things like Yo-Kai Watch....

Or for all we know, Nylarthotep decided to induce a mass hallucination forcing us to percive toy-like cats, dogs and ghosts, and made them all fall into the Uncanny Valley to further torment us. No these toys are not toys, they are marks of those who lost their minds to Eldritch beings, slowly losing their grip on sanity, an no one can help because they think they are just weirdos playing with toys

You are aware the "The Void" is pretty much also a staple mechanic in the Final Fantasy series for multiple things and not just crossover appearances. Gilgamesh's first appearance had him banished to "The void" so it's still entrenched in the Final Fantasy Universes lore.

But please don't besmirch the edlritch beings with this nonsense they didn't do anything to you...that your aware of at least.

I'm aware of that (Hard not to be when the demons are dubbed "Voidsent" there), which is why I was asking if the Void only includes FF universes. (and I;d consider some if not most of Greg's appearances to be crossovers as well, depending on context)

Well someone was asking for a justification for the texture dissonance ("...whereas what was being asked is 'how does the art style fit?'"), I'd figure given SE's track record of replacing textures, I figured I'd try an attempt at one. Thought Cosmic Horrors do not have to be involved, it could just be the Fair Folk or other otherworly creatures that have different standards of Morality, like the aforementioned Voidsent)

The Interdimensional Rift(also referred to as the Void) has only had 3 beings shown capability of manipulating and being able to use it as a conduit to traverse to other FF worlds. Those being Shinryu, Omega(the original), and GILGAMESH. One of the more prominent being GILGAMESH. Although in most cases GILGAGREG can only travel through tears within the dimensions. He can't just force a hole open anywhere. Most of the time anyway.

I see, then if and only if 3 beings can manipulate the Void, how in the world did Lightning appear in Eorzea, did XIII-2's ending mess up more then just that universe?

Cause they come from WoW and decide to play a fanservice game, I see the term WoWfugee thrown around a lot on Tonberry.

I want to say that I have nothing against the mount, the fact it is optional and you don't have to use it if do not want to alongside not being forced to farm it etc. I like variety and options with such things as vanity items, mounts and minions for example. But I also have to admit when first saw it I did think that looks out of place in the sense of it being so cartoony.

So I did (if honest) think to myself when first saw it that it did look out of place, I would be lying if pretended the thought never crossed my mind. Do I think they should not have it because I had that thought? Nope, not especially. I am not against having it present in the game but yes it did cross my mind that looked out of place. The same thought crossed my mind with the 'my little pony' styling of the brightly coloured pony mounts though and I am not going to cry a river over those either even if I do think personally they look silly.

I have more of an issue with the turtle mounts flying animation than the appearance of those type of mounts...I mean why does it have to spin in such a ridiculous and insane amount with you on it in order to fly? I liked riding on it when on the ground but it's flying animation is nauseating and horrible so I refuse to use it as a flying mount. Please stop the spinning of it when flying, using the mount for flying should come with an epilepsy warning.

I agree with you with the turtle but I'm pretty sure they're paying homage to Gamera from the Japanese monster movie series by the same, he flies the same way. I thought it was pretty fitting to have them fly that way. I suppose they could have gone another way like these guys from Sonic the Hedgehog 2

I have a great idea: Let's have a "Yokai-Watch"-Toggle! Everyone that actually likes the looks of the game and how it looks can now disable actually seeing these hideous items! I'd be the first to press it.

Let's be honest, the only reason why these items are deemed to "fit the game" is because level 5 has probably opened their wallet VERY wide. I wish they had used the time create good looking and fitting minions, outfits, weapons and mounts. Alas, I only pay my sub + 2 retainers, I can't compete with the level of wallet that was opened.

With a little bit of fantasy you can make sense of the Yokai Watch items. What if all the wind-up Yokai minions etc are just TOYS in Eorzea? And we have this Blacksmith guy who is crazy about these toys and makes weapons inspired by them. Easy.

I can come up with something for the mounts as well. The point is, we don't know the lore behind them yet. If they are just "there" for no reason, yeah that'll be a little bit disappointing since that means that they CAN just implement Cloud's bike and that the excuse was bs. We'll see.

No one cares about the lore. They care about what the things look like.

To be fair. Most of the minions are toys. Some of them are living creatures, like baby chocobo, but the gadget type and the puppet type are just toys. C'mon, even have the "Wind-up" string in the name. And you can see it in some of them, like the mini-airship (Wind-up airship)

I'm hoping this means that any company that throws money at SE can have their stuff promoted in the game. I'd really love to craft things like Coca Cola for my healers to drink before raid, or participate in a FATE to get a Sailormoon themed weapon like Saturn's glaive or Pluto's garnet rod. Ooooo maybe a Pokemon event! So many Pokemon would make awesome mounts no? I can't wait for the next popular kids toy or cartoon to be incorporated into the game I've been playing for the last 2.5 years. I hope it's not unrealistic to cross my fingers for in game vending machines either that dispense brand name candy bars and other foodstuffs. Gosh I have so many ideas... maybe as a player I can just tell SE what to do with the game since it seems like this is what is happening on a daily basis.

Seriously-- does anyone ever feel like the developers are the only people NOT developing anything? I feel like so much of the content and changes to content comes from chronic complainers or outside sources. I mean the core content is there (dungeons, raids, quests etc.) but beyond that everyone feels like they have a direct line to SE to tell them what to do next or what to change. This Yokai-watch stuff... lol... so off putting to me. Even though I don't like it-- I'm not going to tell SE what they should and shouldn't do because it's not my place. Those minions, most of the weapons, and that mount look like something my niece or nephew would play with. I think if SE continues to add stuff like this they can lower the rating restriction on the game from 14A where I live to "E" (which means Everyone) and at least make the game more competitive with other kids games that 7 year olds are apt to be interested in.

Oh no. They look totally ridiculous. Especially the Whisper kart.
But the setting has been established enough that I don't mind the occasional ridiculous thing anymore. Also I'm making excuses because I enjoy Yokai Watch.

I'm excited for this event. 13 new minions, weapons and a new mount? Yes please, I don't care how ridiculous they look, more vanity is always good for me.

This isnt japan and this isnt to say that there r no western fans only that i feel the majority of fans and influence is in japan. It has nothing to do with being out of place with the game, more like with a large playerbase, namely the west. Alseo i find japanese companies n put their domestic playerbase above all others sometimes, so go move to japan if u want more of a voice.

Ill admit it, i probly wont use them much n thats cus i dont wanna look too cute, i dont go for cute glamours much rlly.

But i know ppl will like it, especially my the awesome japanese players ^^ n i can respect them, can u?

My best guess is that it has to do with how Kotaku sticks with controversial topics with the aim of increasing their click-based revenue. Its also why their site is designed to have you click so many hyperlinks to get the full story since every click=$$$ for them.

AFAWK. Its possible that the minions (and Mount in Whisper's case) are the respective Yokai...
