Petition Against Ifrit Weapon Designs

Ya I agree with u Xion. These weapons are so out of place with the entirety of the current game design, its ridiculous.

Did they call in Blizzard to help them with the workload on the patch?

To be honest, their forum structure as a whole is pretty bad. But yes, that's what the forum is for. Centralised means of generating and collecting feedback for developers use when developing the game. Some people "bitch", some people "criticise", but it can all be used when improving the game either way.

You know what's annoying? Some people acting as a forum police (some with just 20 posts under their belt!) trying to repress the complaints because they are annoyed about it.

Face the facts: The developers try their best but they are not perfect and will make mistakes. If nobody is pointing those mistakes out for them they can not improve their product.

The only thing hurting this community are the people trying to shut the criticism down and accepting the status quo that could be improved so much.

It's especially annoying when these people act like any new information should be regarded as the God's doing that absolutely must not be criticised in any way. Some things they do are for the better, some are not, and we need to point out the things that are not for the better. They will then make the final call. Not you or me.

Specially last one...the comment you diid in bold actyally was worth being in "capital red" too since it does is the primary purpose not only of the forum but any feedback mechanic! ^^

Still can't see why anyone can complain about how they weapons look.

What other items in the entire game look like that?

Now look at every other weapon in the game right now, they all look the same with minor differences, wether it'll be color, or a small part added.

I enjoy how they look, and look forward to actually having the staff, maybe it'll boost up my fire spells.

So? It could have been a regular sword, and Ifrit gave it some of his power. Glad it's different. How could it look more unique if they had based it off of other design previously in the game? Just add the glow?

With just a glow effect, I think it would still be the same bland weapon, just shiny.

You really don't seem to understand. Having consistency doesn't mean re-using the same designs over and over again.

Keeping the proportions somewhat realistic would be one thing. Making the design look like a swiss knife of weapons doesn't make it any cooler either.

But all weapons in FFXIV are based off each in some way, with minimal ways to make them look different. Like all the robes so far. They are being reused.

As for proportions, the only two weapons that seems weird, were Bow and Hand-to-hand.

OK let's follow your logic.
For the sake of REALISM lets say that giant flame monsters exist.

Following this logic lets take a look at the matter that would have to be attached to the weapon to gain said giant flame monsters life force or energy to transfer into the weapon. It is obviously hot (RE: Glowing matter)

From what we can see in the video the last fight takes place in a Volcano or some type of mountain where the real giant flame monster lives.

Now obviously we are going to need some sort of volcanic rock that can be soldered to both Iron (assumed) and the giant flame monsters magical energy. This is to help insulate the molten "Energy" from the horns.

If they were thin and made from the same matter they would melt the weapon and burn the user.

how can they come with design of garlean general so badass and weapon so ass...

I'm against the idea of a petition. I like the designs in a way. They do look out of place in Eorzea's current setting yet aren't the Primals in a way meant to be from like another world or dimension or something? It only makes sense that the loot should look unique. Seriously, it's not really that bad compared to some of the equipment I've seen in other games. I find it odd people want to complain about these, yet don't want to complain how the bikini swimwear doesn't seem like something that should belong in Eorzea. Not that I don't like them mind you, but compared to other equipment it doesn't really feel like these should exist or should probably not expose so much skin as they do.

But anyway, I believe the loot rewards for the Ifrit battle are just fine. Now if every piece of gear starts glowing or having some mystical effects like magic rainbows following you as you move, then I think there could be cause to complain. Until then, suck it up and just enjoy that they're giving us some more unique equipment than slight recoloring and added little doodads onto them.

So following that logic, no different looking robes can be made? Just look at FFXI and you find a plethora of different designs to be used, which all would fit right into this game since the art style is quite similar.

Just because you can not think up anything unique that would be realistic doesn't mean they can't. And that's a part of the appeal in the first place- it is much harder to create something realistic yet unique in design, but when pulled off one can truly appreciate the effort.

FFXI did have a lot of different robes.

Making lots of different designs is one of the most expensive parts of developing an MMO, and time consuming too. Reskins are not nearly as resource-consuming.

With that said, it's not really a lack of inspiration that is keeping the designs so one-dimensional but the over-all strategy used and resources allocated. Everyone could be wearing the same starting equipment like in XI while all the different designs created so far would be more evenly distributed among the different ranks and classes. Instead most classes have their own starting equipment...and few further designs were created (thus far) for the higher ranks. Just reskins and redesigns.

It's a different strategy and you are explaining the problem with it.

I want to sign a petition against these types of useless petitions. Seriously, the OP does not speak for the majority. I think the majority are happy to see some flavor added and like the weapons.

Also, how can they be out-of-place? They are Ifrit's horns FFS.

Wow, exaggerate much? The weapons aren't so bad as to be tacky. The pugilist weapon is a little too big but the rest are alright.

The majority of this community (about 99%) like the new weapons, the rest 1% get over it already.

These new weapons design are like a copy from other mmos like aion tera wow and any other free-to-play mmos
nothing new
I'd rather have normal sword with little glow mist with color cover them than having using ifrit's horn to fight
but the way they glow when you go on active mode is good
please SE dont follow other mmos too much just be yourself
I love ff series designs but just only because this my faith in SE is getting lower and lower....

And I see a lot of the same people here saying the same things they said there. You're point is understood but you keep fighting for something that it seems the majority either 1) don't care because they realise this is a game or 2) actually like the fact the weapons represent the mob you killed and there for is a status 'symbol'. But Betelgeuzah why I see your point and I can agree with 98% of it, you also can't try to shut people down with their comments. It's all a matter of your POV of their post(s) and their POV of your posts(s). It's all opinion. Some have a better way of expressing themselves via words and others just rage but the pendulum swings both ways. That's the only reason why I disagree with the other 2% of your post. But that's my pov/opinion and my right to do so. While I can't police the forums you can't either.

Yes, damn anyone with their own opinions, that will change their minds. I like that we as a community have conflicting ideas, it gives the devs lots of things to build on.

So you dislike anything that dose not look plane and basic.
So we finally get some interesting weapons that DO fit with the game as these types of weapons are in ALL Final Fantasy games!
Its not like there unrelated to the NM that drops them. They fit with Ifrit now if you don't like them don't get them!
But if your going to go on about this ruining the art style why not get the egg helmets taken out the xmas season gear taken out and the rest!

Yea, I gotta be honest. First glance I thought they looked awful. Second look it didn't look so bad. Every look since, they just look more and more tacky. They really just do not look nice.

I really hope that Hard Mode actually means Hard because the more I look at these weapons the more I hope they are not common place in the world..

Someone call the waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahmbulance. Another forum post of people crying over making the game better. I am glad we actually have some open minded people like Jinrya and myself in the forums to battle against all the nay saying cry babies. I don't know why SE even reads your opinions because they never change and are invalid to making the game better. Everything new that comes up you cry about. Whether it is auto attack, claim system, new style of weapons, temporary instant airship travel etc. I get mad when I read these posts because so many people complain about stuff before they actually see it, and even in the cases they do see it before they try it.

I love the new weapons...quit complaining.

It really is a shame that you people do not understand how your derogatory post make you look far worse than the people you insult. Just because people don't think the design of these weapons fit in this games Artist style doesn't mean you have to attack them like petulant children. Honestly, how hard is it to say, "I like them, they look fine to me." I personally think they are simply ugly and tacky. I agree that the weapons look too cartoonish to be FF weapons. That's my opinion.
