It's okay. It's further proof that atheism is true.

Oh God - I mean... Oh the Twelve. Religion. STOP right there.
can god create something that is more powerful than god.
If the answer is yes god is not all powerful
if the answer is no god is not all powerful
therefore the concept of god as we define it can't exist. Or put another way the way our brains work can not interpret what god is. And since god is a concept we create, god cannot exist.
:]
Thank Azury now shut up about religion can we? I don't care who started it lets just stop before we get the thread locked or something.
Legit Explanation :D
The head *harp* of the bow pivots back and lays flat on the handle of a bow it then clicks in, upon closer look at the bows handle it can be held lateral. Perhaps the "harp" will click into to a triggering mechanism and becomes a "6 shooter like" crossbow, after all those do look about the size of bolts and the head portion "or harp" looks just as long if not just short enough to fit the handle of the bow. So I am going to submit the idea (with legit explanation) that it is in fact a long range bow that shifts into a cross bow for close combat.
Another possibility, the head shifts back and clicks into the handle creating a Axe Like weapon for close combat so we no longer have to punch.
now this 1 who says its not a harp has a good idea of what it may be sot he 50 others who jumped on the harp bandwagon can stay there while i fly around the world on my Crossbow Airship
Thank you for going through all that trouble, but there was no need.
You see, in an interview, we got info that bard would be one of the playable jobs.
The ONLY thing that makes sense here is a harp.
Yall are trying to make the weapon into what YOU want it to be rather than what it is.
To be honest yall are tryin to make make me start cursing up in here, but im better than that.
let me leave you with a quote
“Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.”-Sherlock Holmes
Harp is impossible, have you ever seen a real harp?
first: strings need to be different lengths to get different tones
second: string need to be thin so they can vibrate and be plucked to produce the sound and carry it out.
third:The Full-size Grand Concert Harps (the kind used in an orchestra) has 47 strings, and a smaller Celtic harp has just over a dozen.
The picture shows 6 objects of equal length about the thickness of a your pinky if you tried to play that like a harp, your figures would hurt, and it would only play 1 note.
Lets face it, complaining on the forum isn't going to accomplish anything especially when this whole argument came from 1 picture. Assume its a bow harp if you want but here the evil thing about it, No one can hear you cry in cyberspace.
Then why use a complex mechanism for having a harp on a bow if you could just attatch a rope to the harp and put it around your chest in front of you? That would save several steps and cause something called efficiency, instead of lowering the bow to where you have to reach it, setting the bow to where you have the right balance to even hold the bow in place while you hit the right notes, and then pull it back up.
Then we come to this;
Harps keep their sound through the shape of the instrument, hence both sides are closed on an actual harp. 2, a harp has different sizes of string and different lengths. As you can see in the picture, they're all the same size, and they're all the same length.
I know these things because;
My 1 gil is worth more than your 1 gil.
Also, One of my brain-cells outnumbers the amount that you Harp/Bow goers have for thinking of a retarded thought like this.
If you just so happen to be right, you're wrong, because I am always right.
I'm actually quite fond of classical music...and Melodic Black Metal...those walk hand in hand, though.
Also, on a side note, with all the metal that is apparently on the bow, and the fact that it is on the bow, if it was an actual harp it would be out of tune, or not make much quality sound at all. The sound vibrations would carry through the bow and the metal links as it seems to have and distort it to the point ot where it sounds like a flute you get in a happy meal at McDonalds.
and again, I know these things because;
My 1 gil is worth more than your 1 gil.
EDIT: Didn't realize you posted what a harp is lol, I'm more of the "skip the BS and post what I think"
haven't we already done the whole Lyre/harp same difference, length-tension relationship for string instruments debate?
Clearly the bow transforms into an accordion! Everyone knows accordions work by means of magic anyway so we don't have to worry about it being out of tune because MAGIC. We can be 19th century Polka Bards. Bowccordian speculation goooo /sarcasm
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Harp
I know it's a small picture... but it may make you understand that Square Enix's rules on harps don't go by how they should.
Maybe that decorative lute "magically" plays by itself while you shoot arrows? That way you only have to stop damage dealing when you want to change the song.
Bow with arrow mount attachment. http://forums.huntingresource.com/up..._40_651761.jpg
Really whats the big issue here?? the archer becomes bard, with bad ass damage he can even be better because he can make a few buffs that last idk 30min, like haste, more damage, healing buff, chocobo mazurka or whatever they have in mind, so after 1 min giving buffs he goes back to be a BAD ASS damage dealer as archers are and kills the boss without trouble having the good thing that he/she will be invited next time they go out for party.
So is it that bad? i think theyre giving a lot of love to archer by giving that job because if archer is a must job for recent content, in next content that class/job will be even more important.
And yes is a BOWHARP
We've heard that theory, but we've yet to hear anyone come up with a theory as to why the spare arrows are too tiny to be fired from the bow. Can you do eet? Give hope to the naysayers? I mean, look at the arrow he's firing. Obviously the artist had scale and ability.
EDIT: OH, and the community rep says it transforms. So what does it transform INTO that makes those tiny little spare arrows relevant? Crossbow that fires minibolts maybe?
What I'm trying to say here, is - either way, it's probably not a mountable arrow attachment unless it's some form of transformable crossbow clip full of minibolts - and that sounds crazier than harp, almost.
By the way, it's a lyre attached to half a bow that folds up for traveling much like the pickaxe.
it better be a harp attached to that bow.
backline support AND damage, beat that :D
i never really enjoyed bard in FFXI, but with a bow attached to my harp, or harp to my bow, whatever fits you, i'd gladly try that job once.
being backline support only is borrrrrrrrrrrring
Its an artist's rendition of how a compound bow would have worked had they been around when swords and shields were; The four strings act as added tension for more velocity. It transforms into a more compact size for easier transport much like the mining axe. Now the real question is, why is the BLM playing an ocarina?!
definitely more likely a lyre than a harp if it is infarct an instrument... maybe its a lazer
I'm calling semantics on this one. The pickaxe is not "transformable," it's collapsible. I feel like Bayohne knows the difference, or at least would have said, "transformable, much like a pickaxe" so we could make fun of him heartily that we're glad he's not on the localization team.
Can't be a lyre, the bowstring is thinner than they are and there are heads on them. Bowstrings are pretty damn thick so if that's supposed to be a lyre it would be in superbass if you could get good vibrations off them at all. If they aren't there for purely aesthetic purposes, they're crossbow bolts, which are MUCH shorter than arrows.
You're RIGHT
And PUG is a Dragon Warrior because she had dragons for hands. But you're right we need to look at Archer more. Nope I can't get away from the DRAGONS FOR HANDS on the PUG.
Considering Crossbows use the same underlying mechanics as bows and its been confirmed to transform then yes, it could. A crossbow is essentially a mechanized bow at the cost of range. Let's have a composite longbow, not as effective at close range, that can turn into a crossbow, much more effective at close ranges and less effective at longer ranges.
Most of that post is pretty accurate, EXCEPT your allegation of Bows not being as effective as Crossbows in close range.
The bow in the hands of a trained archer is devastating, at hand-to-hand fighting both weapons are largely useless but real crossbows take an inordinate amount of time to reload... longer than single firing muskets even.
The only benefit crossbows had over long bows was that you didn't need to spend most of your life training to use one.
LOL, this thread is funny. I'm going with SE making a hybrid bow with a crossbow, because of the "latch" looking thing on the bow itself.
No dude....no that is a harp those arrows would be way to short......to even shoot.... its a harp on top of a bow get over it bards confirmed
The arguments of scale pale in light of the utter absurdity of the contraption. If it's a bow that turns into a harp it's dumb, if it's a bow that turns into a crossbow it's equally as dumb. If it is a bow that does anything beyond firing arrows...
We're reaching the same level of absurdity as the notion of Gun-Guns from the Empire thread, without the benefit of being absurd for the sake of absurdity.
The transforming bow is dumb. It will never not be dumb. Hopefully whoever came up with the damn thing realizes it before they spend 6 months putting it into the game.
