Darkside Aura .. hurts my eyes. Can't turn it off.

I'm mildly photosensitive and all my usual coping mechanisms are useless against the way this effect's animation has both moving elements and flickering. It's actually not so bad in battle but if someone with it on comes up while I'm trying to talk to an NPC I usually end up moving away until they leave.

This. Why doesn't it just look like our weapon has blood energy dripping off it or something?

I always switch mine off when I'm not in the field im surprised people complaining about this when war gets a visual just like this.

Because from the info we know Dark Knights get their enemy's blood all over them while their fighting.

I can maintain that aura at best two minutes, and even then it's no where near as bad as Darkside. Darkside stays on until the DRK does something about it (usually log off)

Besides. It doesn't look like blood. It looks like a bunch of big opaque down feathers.

This thread cracks me up.

Personally I don't have a problem with the effect and leave it on almost all the time (Mostly because I just forget it's on and don't notice the effect), but I do actually agree that it needs to be toned down some. :P It's something like 4x the size of my character. I would much prefer it if it was a closer aura effect that radiated red off my character in a kind of heat-wave effect (Up from my character), rather than looking like the solar winds with myself as the star of origin. @_@

I personally don't have an issue with it, but I could see why others might be put off by it. Personally I'd rather have the glowy eyes, and instead of an aura perhaps an energy/shadow/flame trail that only shows in combat? Clear feedback it's on, unintrusive outside of combat, and glowy eyes. Sounds great to me.

All other auras/effects of other characters can't be seen if you choose, but this one can?

Bad move on SE's part for forcing us to see this despite disabling other characters effects

Trying to quest with Dark Knights in the game right now is like constantly being assaulted by flashing red warning disco lights. It hurts my eyes. :(

You can't disable the red aura. i have battle effects off for others.

On Aion, Asmodian's get a pair of Red smoking glowing eyes, it looks very good, Dark Knight from FFXIV could get the same.

What I'm worried about is that they will simply allow us to disable it by disabling ALL character effects instead of reworking it to be less intrusive. I don't want to disable everything just because of a single skill on a single job, please.

Personally I would be fine if the glow covered just the weapon, and only when drawned. That would be the best approach, in my opinion.

You misunderstood. I meant Dark Knights should disable it out of combat.

Disable the skill.
Toggle it off.
Click it.

here's how you get it to go away:

Get as many dark knights as you can in a crowded area.

have them all toggle on the aura so it's really obnoxious.

Dont see the problem, though it could be made stronger, can barely notice it most of the time. Maybe something like this!

Late to the thread, but this, above all else. The magic slashes passing over my character can literally obscure it so much that I will never see my following oGCD. I fear the day there is an AoE as (compared to most) tiny as my character's hitbox -- it'd be very difficult to see after certain moves because of the lingering lazer-cuts and... what is it, exactly, some sort of ionized haze?

auras are cool the 1 day after that "ugh"...

is like asking for adloquium or succor , or even stoneskin having a permanent bubble/earth effect (priest bubbles on wow for example, bubble on top of another bubble + pain supression , add earth shield from shaman....u dont even see your char ugh)

To please everyone, since some likes to have it constantly "on" like role-players who would 'feel' the darkness from within emerging (and by the way, can you ask to put back the black color like it was please?)

If there will be an option for others that don't want to see it to put it to off into their own client, then everyone will be happy.

You guys as great as usual, watching the forums and trying your best to please us.

In EQ2 they fixed this problem with level 0 "funspells" which gave you auras, illusions, ect ect!

I hope people realize that this doesn't "hide" the aura. And to be honest, that's dumb because darkness comes from the heart, not the weapon..

I'd like to comment that this should not be placed in the filters for combat effects, because I don't mind it in the field, its just in town.

A more recent gripe with this is that it is really distracting when crafting and concentrating, red turd all over my screen wafting in front of me.

please no permanent auras. i don't care how cool all the dorkside dank knights want to look. it looks out of place in town and making it look "cooler" will only make it worse because even more people will just leave it on because "hurr durr im oozing blood so cool"

I would actually prefer the black flames over the red aura we get now but i still say the red aura isnt all that noticable.

And another patch and still no fix for a bug with 2 accepted reports since the 23rd of June. Can someone from SE at least confirm they will be fixing this at all? I get there are priorities but at this point I fear this might be forgotten. If it ain't going to be fixed might as well just tell us.

we shape the abyss as our heart wills it. darkside enhances our damage, and as such it would make sense for the aura to be around the things we use to deal damage.
