The party members only added to her grief. Avere head was chopped off and Edda was too far away to heal, so it's basically an Aerith moment.
If they dead, they dead lol.
It didn't matter if she could heal him or not, he was done for as she can't rez a decapitated head lol. So it wasn't her fault at all.
I actually think a sad story like hers should just keep being sad... don't always need a happy ending. If they did add more to put her to peace
that'll be awesome, maybe have her and Avere together in the end. So either way I'll be happy.
I think I'd be happy if they just left Edda's story where it is. Keep putting the odd creepy thing like this in every now and then, perhaps in more bold ways (can you imagine if she was hidden away in the crowd during the party at Ul'dah?), to remind us, but don't "resolve" the story.
If she does show up again, I'd like it to involve the party that was outside Sastasha (Hard). Rather than giving Edda a happy ending, give them one where they resolve their issues and don't go down a similar path to Edda's group, perhaps after the end up in Tam-Tara (Extreme). That would be a great way to give us a "happy" ending without breaking Horror 101 by redeeming the vengeful spirit. Leave Edda to do what she does best, any "good end" at this point should simply involve Edda not claiming more victims. Giving her a happy ending would be like giving Samara a hug after she climbs out of your TV...
That would be the true horror route to go with it, which I'd actually prefer (well, not quite), but some people seem to want a happy ending. I'd just rather that happy ending not be for Edda.
Edda's character arc is one of tragedy and horror. You don't fling someone off the deep end like that and then end it with sunshine and rainbows. They milk the character now until the movies stop being popular, or they stop while they're ahead. Personally I'd like it if we got a "happy" ending for the party only to later find out things go horribly wrong, without even needing to bring Edda in at that point. Leave it up to the players own imagination at that point.
I'd say actually beating Edda would be out of the question, too. You never beat the big bad in a horror movie, at best you survive it.
That video on the shore is so creepy...
The Sastasha (Hard) group was specifically a call back to Edda's group, complete with one of them saying they almost lost their heads (if I remember right). Otherwsise though their group actually got along, which is most likely why they survived. Plus not every story has a happy ending, nor has to. I mostly say this because I still want raid boss Edda because I would find it hilarious...and that might give us a good excuse to go into the Void again.
Yes, she was sad, but you need to notice how the bad attitude of her party (close friends) push her to the edge. I want her to be saved or be destroyed not a vague ending if they decided to add more.
@ Nalien ur idea of it is meh. I want one of that group to die too.
@dualblade may be they did but not included Edda. They tread her in such a way that blame her for the death of her fiance/group leader. By the way that they were with her in the CS, it shows that they constantly harassing her when they see her.
It's actually funny that this became a real thing in the game - lol. Back during the Halloween event I made a fake SS of Edda wandering around the housing district's and told like 10-12 people from my FC (and friends) I'd seen her wandering around. That I thought it was part of the Halloween event - They believed me and I had them looking all over the place for this supposed "Edda Ghost". At one point it even ended up on reddit - I don't know how lol. XD
This is what I had made:

- and now she's REALLY in the game. That is so cool - I wanna see her, but haven't as of yet~! :D
If you go to the Sastasha entrance, there's a different group of NPCs there now. The tank is the one who's being bullied (instead of what happened with Edda's group where the healer was being bullied).
Holyshit. Great job SE for adding something like this in. Stories like this are quite rare in an MMO setting and damn it surely adds a different kind of flavour into an MMO game with such elements. Love it.
Bumping with another ghost. Has anyone seen the woman and her chocobo in Coerthas Western Highlands? Around the Falcon's Nest camp when questing I saw this NPC lady and her chocobo walking down and thought little of it until they vanished into thin air.
I saw the lady and chocobo in Coerthas Western Highlands, but I just figured she was a FATE NPC and I caught the tag-end of her exit from a completed FATE. If she's actually a ghost that's pretty cool.
Yeah, I'm not entirely sure what their deal is, I honestly kind of ignored their speech bubbles because I just thought they were FATE related haha. I know I've seen them where the Spiky butt FATE pops up, and also north of the dragon hunter's camp, to the West side walking behind a small ledge where a lvl 60 unspoiled node pops up.
I have seen this many many times as that location is where you do gathering for the Ephemeral Node. If it is a ghost it isn't a less than 1% chance as I have seen it maybe 10 times now. The same with the guy that is holding onto the ledge north of there and later you see him on the ground that he has fallen. I think they are just trying to add more NPC type people in the area to make it seem more alive. Although I feel like a jerk WoL not being able to help that guy who was going to fall off that cliff.
The new 3.0 maps have NPC traffic that comes and goes out of hamlets and along the roads. They did this to add more life to Eorzea. Before, NPCs were too static.
Did anyone find Edda's ghost in Ul'dah or Limsa Lominsa yet? Hmm, maybe this is a good amp up to Halloween as I wait for 3.1 to come out. Where could she be lurking in the other two cities?
I recall SE showing pictures of the potential 1% spawn areas are. I can not for the life of me find those pictures anywhere (dunno if I'm looking in the right places or not. If they're posted in this thread, I'll eat an asparagus), but they were a good enough hint for people to know roughly where Edda would appear in Gridania. One in Ul'dah I think is near chocobos. Limsa I don't even recall.
This reminds me of ff11 with Gusgen mines. That place was full of ghosts. And the deeper you went the more menevolent they seem to become. Shi deffy went downh in that are cuzx u saw all kindas of ghosts from children you people hanging from the rafters. That place gave me nightmares.... ^^;;
Also correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't edda in 1.0, think hystmill or one of the now non existent hamlets. This she was a lil npc who said stuff about learning necromancy.
Haha I don't think they've posted the pics in this thread. I was just crawling through these pages a few nights ago and didn't find anything so you're saved from the asparagus. I think I'll start by keeping an eye out in Ul'dah by the chocobo porter. And yeah I was wondering where it might be in Limsa too... Been trying to consider all the places likely but I'm not a Limsa Lominsa citizen.
I loved Gusgen - I mean it was so creepy. I seem to recall there were also echoes of laughter or something too if you had the sound features on. That's the second time I've heard about Edda and necromancy in 1.0. Would love to hear more about which hamlet etc. Very cool facts!
Sorry for bumping this very old thread, but I just got a screenshot of Edda's ghost in Limsa in case anyone cares to look for her. ^^

It was 2:00am Eorzea time. I'm not sure if the weather has anything to do with it, but it was raining when she appeared for just about 3 seconds before vanishing.
