PSN is down

Thanks for the update man . A lot more help then Sony was . I don't think we'll see a reboot till mid next week due to servers probley being fryed from overload of traffic

Because even if they can't stop ddos, it's most definitely their fault we can't play ffxiv even though it doesn't need PSN.

Just curious: Are you on PS4? I know someone in JP who wasn't having any issues with PSN on PS3 yesterday, but wasn't sure if JP PS4 was affected or not.

I was talking about the actual issue of the PSN, not just FFXIV accounts.

Don't get me wrong they probley are working there ass off to fix the problem but they keep promising that this will never happen again since 2011 when they where taken down for over 2 months when anonymous ddos the server , now that we pay for the service we expect higher security

Sony are updating via twitter, also responsing to individual people. Hopefully i can at least get my roulettes done tomorrow :3

Lol Sony are just copy and pasting the same reply ever 5 sec . The whole there's no eta but where working on it please be patient has been going on for 2 days now . Don't expect a quick fix this will be down for almost a week maybe longer

This is utterly ridiculous. Sony needs to get their act together.

Whilst you wait if your looking for a good movie youtube on fire is a good movie stream for ps4 users

Not much you can do to stop a ddos attack, lizard have admitted sony was hard to break through unlike Microsoft.
Warning or not how can you stop geniune looking traffic overflooding them? Phone each individual person logging on to ask if its their Christmas present?

They will compensate you , but you'll get to choose 1 of 3 relic games that nobody wants to play or have been free in the past as a thank you for letting loose on there twitter feed and calling them all sorts of names

I'm in Okinawa on PS4, and still no luck. My friend though tried about 77 times and finally logged in yesterday. So i'm at about 32, and still trying.

Am I being to hopeful that SE will extend ps3 and ps4 members sub this month because of psn being down thing long?

FFXIV on PS3/4 has PSN authentication. When you install FFXIV on PS3/4 you get a FFXIV license linked to your PSN account it is viewable under services. When you log in to play FFXIV on PS3/4 it does a check with PSN to make sure you have a FFXIV license on your PSN account. They don't want people playing on PS3/4 that have not a license, because someone could just borrow a ps4/3 disc then install it and play with their pc account otherwise and never bought the game on PS. Once you are logged in you don't need any more interaction with PSN though.

It's not SE that needs to compensate they run a well maintenced service that Sony seems to lack . So don't get your hopes up

Got on psn and the game still won't load past the launcher :/

I agree with this, though I'm going to be bummed if this lasts until the end of the Christmas event as I was planning to do it today. @_@

I get the feeling that even once PSN and XBL gets fixed the lizard folk will then proceed to DDoS SE, Blizzard, and others directly. I think this happened last time.

I suggest people to not plant anything once the coast is clear.

Won't be able to login for a month just like last time.

The game license is already download on the console so I don't know why pan is needed between this crap and the half a day maintenance is stupid because then we can't get in and we lose out on stuff.

It's stuff like this that makes companies lose their customers. If this doesn't get fixed its gonna affect business for them badly regardless who it is that these dodos attacks are coming from.

also if Sony is paying such big money to super geeks to deal with situations like this then why wasn't it solved months or even years ago?
the answer is because Sony has a huge ego and is likely trying to solve it all inhouse without the help of anyone that truly knows security.
same with Microsoft who should have been better prepared for this than Sony since their top product(windows) is constantly hacked yet they weren't

In no way am I paying $1000 or more for something that can easily get a virus and lose all data I know pc is more powerful but I don't care. This is just one reason on why I prefer consols don't just tell people to jump on it for this reason SE and Sony just need to make it so pen being down doesn't interfere with FF XIV.

I read an article that said Microsoft had next to zero security to prevent this ddos from happening and sony had just beefed up because of the earlier one this year already. Now Microsoft is restored 80 to 90 % of it's services while Sony still twiddles it's thumbs and leaves ps4 customers down. I read ps3 and psvita are back up and the problem seems to be with psn and ps4 atm. I don't expect much from SE tbh it's not really them to blame. It would be kinda nice if they extended the holiday event but with most of the event items otw to cash shop I don't see that happening either when they can just cash shop an item at a later date. I don't expect Sony to compensate either but I do in fact expect them to get their shit in gear. Sony is hurting on the money side of things which it shows.

you have some misinformation there if you think it's that simple to lose all data on the PC. not to mention for close to the same money you pay for the PS4 you could buy a comparable PC.
IF you get a PC you learn the ins and outs of protecting yourself and making restore discs. these are simple things to do so it really should be a non issue.

this is because Microsoft does learn from attacks. and of the 2 companies they have been attacked more/had their top products attacked more by hackers/script kiddies. this is why they will recover xblive faster
