I don't mind it, and it's one of the only armors that actually look different on male and female.

Note the distinct and utter lack of an undershirt for females. It is NOT the same. The difference in amount of skin shown is actually greater than with the DRG outfit.
I didn't have a female Lalafell available for modeling purposes right now, but they lack the undershirt as well.
What about WHM AF? Are their pants also the same?
female monk also show more skin than male monk

Well, Lily, when you see the animations for some DRG skills, DRG are... pretty impressive in terms of flexibility x)
But yeah, indeed, female WHM don't get underpants, female BRD are slightly more exposed, and so. My point is, even though that's the case, do we really need to make such a fuss about it ? Some are justified, some are not, and that's it, it's not as vulgar as in other MMO (*cough* TERA *cough*), and it's no big deal... And it would be awful if my WHM had underpants like males have =(
Even if that's the case, Gralna, I want my male Roe to wear a wedding dress once in a while, why not ? ;-;
Certainly there is. But we're talking about DRG armor specifically in this thread. There's no arguing that glamour allows for a rainbow of options - but none of those options allows for Dragoon armor on a male character with stomach exposed. Or, for that matter, Dragoon armor on a female with stomach covered.
Honestly, it's a discussion that has no end. SE is extremely unlikely to do anything about the original armors at this point, and so folks are going to be bickering about it until the end of time.
With any luck, though, in the future they'll avoid the silliness. Armor can be cut differently across genders - females DO have a different body shape than males, there's no denying that - but if it's going to be fanservicey on one gender, it should likewise be on the other.
I honestly can't believe people are still arguing about this. Why do you want everything to look the same? I find the tank classes to be unbelievably dull for this very reason. I hate my character having such a "masculine" look to her when in the Poetic tank gear. It's dull. It's boring. It's unexciting. I will never understand some people's need to try and "fix" things for everyone else. If you don't like the DRG look to the AF armor, don't use it, there's plenty of other options that don't have that small feature on it. And yes, it is a small feature.
Please make sure all future DRG AF Has belly windows on females. Because my opinion should override everyone elses, just like this topic. *Nods*
Because as a femroe I was unable to wear the twin tailed tux that males get for my ceremony, wore my dress for ceremony and it's been sitting on my retainer ever since. Almost went with just wearing the best man tux, but decided in the end it'd look strange if I was wearing same thing as half the audience, so opted to wear the dress.
I do agree that for bestman/bridesmaid gear it's unfair that female characters can wear both, but males are stuck with only the tux, even though they showed in a side quest, a male wearing the spring dress. However for the outfits provided for the eternal bonding ceremony, they kept both sets gender locked.
Don't we are talking about that specific female AF pieces show more skin than the male version?
The Monk pants and the Bard body fall into the same category.
Try it with this, it's armor for DRG:Quote:
Or, for that matter, Dragoon armor on a female with stomach covered.

Oh. So... male dragoons aren't expected to be as flexible, is that what you're saying? O.o Or do you mean that female dragoons need more assistance in their endeavours to be flexible, and that's why their armour has blatant "shove your weapon here" gaps?
Ah, wait, I know. The holes both improve flexibility and provide incentive to utilize that flexibility. ;)
Umm... Just out of curiosity... Since when did "actual impractical armour design" become equal to "illusion making your protective gear look impractical"? Cos that's what the glamour is. It's illusion-based. Meaning that those people running around in bikinis or reindeer costumes aren't actually doing so.
So why are people using glamours as an excuse to promote impractical armour design? And yes, those spikes and decorative plates and other extras that are so common on armour aren't really practical either, but at least those spikes and plates and extras are the same for men and women ^_~
(And yes, I'm also annoyed about the AF for Ninja... Even if it's a common difference from what I've seen in anime. But IMO they could have provided those differences to be optional. And because I'm the kind of person I am: Yes, that option should be available for both male and female ninja :p )
I haven't(and don't really care to read every post in this thread so apologies if someone has already said what I'm about to say. but why not just make it toggle-able? Some people clearly like it the way it is and to say "it needs to go" without taking their opinion into account is downright selfish. Unless the way other players dress up their characters really bothers you for some reason, I don't see why a toggle shouldn't be able to satisfy both sides.
I'll go on record as saying I don't mind gender-locked sets. I don't even mind subtle differences between male and female armors, since there are obviously considerations needed to be made for men that aren't the same for women and vice versa.
...but yeah, that hole is absolutely ridiculous.
Practicality aside, it just plain LOOKS silly. Everywhere else is clad in thick armor and giant spikes, but my precious abdomen is apparently too precious to keep hidden under all that. Yes, Lalafell suffer from this as well. It's also why Dragoon is the first job for which I glamored over the original AF appearance.
I don't expect them to change it, and I couldn't care less if they do or not. I do think it's ridiculous though, and I'll be staying well away from it as a look for any job.
Seriously? If one can argue the need for a lack of armor where armor is needed most then obviously it would be same for both genders correct?
Also, DRG fight dragons, the habit of them chewing/breathing fire on their enemies is probably why derplander went for the more armored set. A belly is a bad place for a burn/dragon tooth to be.
I think the armor looks silly in general with all those spikes....but it's kinda late complaining now. We just looking for social aspects and nitpicking on few things we don't like at this point or bored or....idk
Well....while we're at it....know what I want?

Make it happen SE
Oh hey, this is an oldie.
Pretty sure I've posted my thoughts on this before, but it basically comes down to the fact that aesthetically, it just looks off. Like, we have ludicrous bikini armor, like the Coliseum set, and other things that are obviously unrealistic and impractical, but from the aesthetic standpoint it makes for a solid image.
With the DRG AF, there's no overall change in the aesthetic that they're going for, it's just a section of armor that's gone. It feels lazy and poorly-considered. If they redesigned the female DRG AF completely to be a full suit of spiky metal lingerie, that would actually be an improvement, because at least you're going all-in on the audacity.
I love the belly window on my drg. Hope there will be more in future sets.
*shurg*
If you don't like it, don't wear it. There are plenty of alternative outfits available for Dragoons that covers more and still look "Dragoon" like. I chose Tortisescale on Lin for a long time in her appearances because the aesthetics matched her better. Now I just use whatever gear I feel fits her character more.
I don't feel the need to impose my will on the designers because I have issue for a particular piece of digital clothing.
We have a new set of Dragoon armor coming in the expansion, one that may very well suit your desires. Otherwise, I recommend perhaps using gear like the Demon Mail of Maiming as an alternative. The remaining Dragoon pieces can then be dyed a similar color.
Artifact and tome armor sets should be gender equal, they represent jobs/ classes in the FF series. In this way the character is empowered regardless of gender, they are a Paladin, a Dragoon, a Ninja. Having a scantly clad version for females makes no sense, particularly when there is gear in the game currently for those that want that option. Reading through fourteen pages of this thread i can't help but wonder how many of these female characters are played by female gamers that want their representations in Erozea to be taken seriously. I have plenty of female alts in bikini armor glamours, i don't mind the show, but it should really be something chosen not something of circumstance.
I love plate bikini type armors shows off the female characters figure. Wish there were more of those types in the game.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...d-be-Subligars!
Just going to link this from back in the day, it made sense back then and it still makes sense. (and one does see the glamour relatively often on females)
I am all for sexier armor variants for females;), but the window is more ridiculous than sexy. It would have worked fine with a little more exposed on the legs/arms to go with it, but it's just an out of place hole right now.
At least they had the decency to not have any exposed stomach DRGs in the Heavensward opening :p
Maybe impractical, but not unrealistic. It is coliseum gear after all
https://www.papermasters.com/images/...gladiators.jpg
People love bringing up George R. R. Martin novels when talking about this game these days, so we definitely need a scene in Heavensward where a proud female dragoon gets gored through her belly-window fighting a dragon.
Criticism based on personal preference. I hate country, that does not mean country music should not exist.
There is no ground to call to deface something based on personal preference at all.
What the OP is asking for is the destruction of a particular style of graphic (Note: someone else's Art) because it does not appeal to them. This is not constructive feedback, this is a one-dimensional complaint with no consideration for any opposing preference or opinion.
Have someone Mod it for them if it bothers them that much, rather that impose it upon thousands of other players.
I would be more tolerable of this if ANY of these arguments would have been sensible enough to simply ask for an alternative version of the gear set with the mid-drift covered. However, since the AF gear was released back in 1.xx, I have yet to see it. Rather all I have seen is this entirely selfish complaint to destroy something in spite of those who prefer the gear as is, and supplant it with a version more appealing to them specifically.
That sort of thinking is deplorable, and completely inconsiderate of the artist and other fans.
Ask for an alternative - shouldn't be hard for them to make a Glamor item of the AF body with the mid-drift covered. Everyone wins.
In the meanwhile, make due, like people have, since before Glamour even existed, and ARR was merely a well Photoshopped concept screenshot.
I'm not surprised that you can't spell midriff, all considered. It's not destruction of anything, and it is OBJECTIVELY stupid to have a suit of armor that leaves major organs and bare skin completely exposed on its front. It's not asking for anything except for it to be like the male armor, since male drgs don't look like idiots who can't dress themselves.
Why is a 6-month old troll thread back on the first page? It should have died off last year and been left there to rot.
But since you're talking for me, I should explain. No, this is what I was asking for:
The context is lost without the "No female variant DRK armor" thread around, so I can see where people might have missed that this is indeed a troll thread. Maybe people should go dig that one up so that your zombie rage can be directed at someone who was being serious.
I think a better question is: how does headgear stay attached when we use Jump skills? Especially the circlet from the DRG Demon armor.
Haha, look at this drama queen.
Critics gonna make valid points. This might not change. It might influence future designs, though. Or it may not, but what is said has been said. If you like it? Explain why you like it, don't attack the ones that don't. Progress the conversation.
Here's my thread on female DRK armor concerns, with a mildly satisfying 201 upvotes. While I'm sure the artists have long since finalized their decision since last October, feel free to bump it. :D
Does anyone really still wear this armor? I've long since moved on from it. And for the record I like my belly button showing.
I'm still wearing the armor and enjoying the belly opening as always!
