It most likely isn't a glowworm. My next cast once I got the buff was another Giant Takitaro, which didn't refresh the buff.

Fair>Gloom also works for Void Bass
Judging by the description of the Namitaro and the 1 min buff it looks like we might need a HQ Giant Takitaro to mooch for the legendary.
WHAT i tried that combo but it didnt give me any results. for the Giant Takitaro that is.
The Giant Takitaro will bite in Thunder weather too. Just got another at ET 05:30 and ET:7:40.
fair -> thunder

HQ Giant Takitaro is no mooch (sadly)
hell, 60 sec buff duration
it either requires a fightfish as mooch, which would be awful, or one out of 40 different baits, which also takes ages to figure out the right one (if you have 5 tries per chaught giant takitaro.....)
It's possible to get the buff and the catch using the same fish :)

topwater frog is the bait required for namitaro (regarding 14angler)
I wonder who figured that out...........lol
I'm at 105 fish now and trying to catch seahag. 3 bites so far and lost them all -_-'
I'm still missing the goldfish, seahag and bonnytongue
and once more.....

took me 1 hour to get the 2 catfish ****** shit -_-
Another member of club 105 here.
[Magicked Mushroom] (Would you join my party?)
EDIT:
I think you can safely move several steps to the side and continue fishing without the game forgetting about your catfishes. As long as you don't zone or fish in another node, you should be fine.
I'll try it with lamp marinos in coerthas first, would be helpful >.>
edit:
f*** that goldfish :p

I'd have to say the fishing rod looks much better ingame than it did on the first screenshot posted in this thread.
congrats ^^
now the real pain starts: namitaro, shonisaurus, helicoprion, kuno ~_~
Congrats both! I'm all alone in the 105 club now ; ;
Still stuck on Ndendecki - haven't had a single double mooch in days (real-life, not Eorzea!). Someone tell me this is normal, please >.>
what other fish do you miss? there should be others, which are comparably easy to get
Endoceras, Blood-red bonytongue, Namitaro, Helicoprion, Shamisaurus, Nepto Dragon and Ndendecki
nepto dragon is very easy, it only requires 3 little thalos, which are really common (during rain)
you only have to hit more then 402 gathering, endoceras is also comparably easy and a single mooch
btw, that feeling when you lose a fish with 421 gathering :'(
Nepto Dragon is easy if, as you say, you hit over 402 gathering which I don't because my FC doesn't use the gathering buff.
And you yourself made a post saying how annoying Endoceras is :p Don't get me wrong, I appreciate what you're saying - Ndendecki is not one I'm choosing to try because it's 'easier', it's just in my catch range and the weather comes up often ^_^ Mostly I just don't understand how I can go 2 real life days with no double mooch there.
And here I thought I could finally stop bothering my FC with the buff after getting Ironworks rod...
15 coelacanthuses so far and no luck with Endoceras yet :(
sure, I said endoceras was nasty, but after endo I encountered many more annoying fish which somehow changed my mind xD
I got mine after midnight, clear/fair -> wind, if it somehow helps youQuote:

Ninja Betta isn't any time according to http://na.ff14angler.com/fish/297 which records ingame data
It's 6pm-9am
Grats to all that got the ironwork rod! Here is a screenshot of the deadliest catch!

Grats!
That feeling when you finally get the bite from the fish that evaded you for days only to find out that you have accidentally used the wrong food. Cannot even blame this on rng... OTZ

With all the other caught, it can't be long until it will be found. While the Helicoprion is down, I'm working on the Shonisaurus in Witchdrop, would appreciate some help theorizing:
What I tried: Caught everything, including up to 3(5) Rhamphorynchus (if repairing without zoning won't interrupt it) in a row and 1 Mahar. (But no buff yet)
My ideas:
-> If its a buff it involves more than 5 Rhamphors or more than 1 Mahar.
-> If its not a buff, it would have to be a rare weather condition + mooch or straight catch.
-> Given the description about the lighter-than-air gas, matching the description on Balloon Bugs, i like to believe it would make sense for the Shonisaurus to feed on the Balloon Bugs, rather than Hoverworm, OR the other possible option, Saucerfish.
So what I want to have a go at next is checking rare conditions and make suffiencient attempts to catch with streight balloon bugs. - knowing that its still possibly a mooch off CloudCutter or Saucerfish.
If it was in Analogy to the Helicopryon:
Rarest condition->Zonespecific Condition->shared mooch with other big fish in area
then i would expect it to be:
Clear weather(4.7%) -> Blizzard (19.4%) -> Saucerfish Mooch
Baloon Bug description makes me wonder tho :D
What do you think is most likely the case here?
caught the giant takitaro then immediately after that i caught namitaro =] and finally got my ironworks fishing rod

i was doing the same thing and i thought the exact same way to i think its balloon bug as well but i cant figure out this damn fish and its driving me crazy but i will keep trying to figure it out
is that really confirmed? I'd more than 10 mooches during fog -> heat and never got a big bite and uknow wrote he got a bite with insufficient gathering while tripel heatQuote:

is someone able to translante this? :p

I have a theory about Helicoprion.
If you look at what Uknow said about getting an 'insufficient gathering' message during triple heatwave and that he had caught 2 Magic Carpets beforehand, I think the Helicoprion conditions are less to do with weather changes and more to do with catching it during Heatwave at a specific time.
Everyone can confirm it's heatwave so we can take that as pretty much a given. However, Magic Carpet catch time is 09:00-17:00 and the catch times for Helicoprion are listed as 13:00-19:00 which would coincide with a Magic Carpet catch window meaning that Uknow's lost catch was probably in the 16:00-00:00 weather window. In addition we know Tiger hasn't had any luck on 10+ mooches during Inclement weather -> Heatwave (although we don't know what time period this was) so it just makes sense to assume the catch conditions are Heatwave and somewhere between 13:00-19:00. I'll try during this window when it's up and let you know if I have any luck.

Just finished Ironworks Fishing Rod. First on Ultros that I am aware of. The look isn't what I had expected/hoped, pretty underwhelming. :/
This is a good point but the same can be said for why there have been no updates if it's fog/overcast->heat or if it's triple heat, as both have been up in the last few days (and fog/overcast -> heat is not that rare it seems, I've seen it 3+ times since the last update before yours on angler.com). I'm not saying this is an exact science, it's just a theory and to me it makes the most sense based on the information we have :) At this point there's not really anything to lose by seeing if it's right.
I agree that there must be some additional condition, or the RNG is absolutely horrible. I try to spend every single Fog ->Heatwave trying to catch the damn fish, but haven't even seen a single bite yet.
the legendary fish desynth to grade IV materia
I'ld never desynth them, except nepto probably, getting the others is a too big pain, lol
