If people did not complain 2.0 would not exist and 1.0 would have shut down.
People Fighting SE's corner when they make poor decisions is actually worse for everyone.

18 weeks of T9 without my weapon dropping
Ive played 1.0, it was terrible, it had nothing, there wasnt much of an alternative to do or aquire, this is where 2.0 is different, in terms of looting and gearing, there is an alternative, you are just turning a blind eye to the design of having filler gear that comes from SOLD gear, thats much worse, Im actually used to this system, and understand its pros and cons and how it actually plays out in the long term. Again, Ive been in positions on waiting on certain things to drop, the difference is, my attitude was to move on and not dwell on it.
Also square enixs arrogance is what remade 2.0 as they could never have a FF game fail.
Nah, I'm pretty sure it was SE's commitment to their investors that is what remade 2.0.
And look, no one is turning a blind eye to the "filler" gear in soldiery. But depending on the class, soldiery gear might not really do much for you. Theres a couple classes where the accuracy from soldiery sets wouldn't even take you to the hit cap in first coil.
Nothing wrong with RNG but what I would have preferred was a "forced loot" drop. Loot will only drop items for the specific classes that entered the instance. i.e if you enter coil with 2 tanks, 2 healers, 2 blms, 1 brd, and 1 mnk, you will NOT get any drg drops and will ONLY get tank, healer, caster, bard and monk drops.
Yes this system can be abused by choosing specific classes to increase the odds of obtaining certain loot and I encourage it since all previous games in the FF series had a way to abuse the drop system, be it with items, glitching or duping. This will keep parties fresh since players will actually have to use their alts to obtain gear for them keeping the party dynamic and providing purpose for using your alt jobs.
As for the OP:

Wow. This week we had different stuff. Not really much needed stuff, but different.
While I did indeed contradict myself in that sentence (I meant optimization for Coils, should have used better words), the main point still stands. You said Soldiery is a valid alternative to High Allagan:
The thing is that not every Soldiery items is an upgrade for Coil raiders when accuracy is taken into account. That's something you aren't getting. You don't want to optimize your character (again 551 accuracy on Black Mage, which also makes me question what kind of "high end progression" you did on WoW), that's your issue. Don't bring everyone with you on this though.
By the way, come back after you've waited for a year for an item (Hello Jailer of Justice and Salvage).
No, I am saying that I am not inexperienced with the issue at all. That's the point. I've dealt with the issue of RNG loot vs. Token loot extensively. This is a game design issue, and its very relevant to much more than just 2nd Coil in FFXIV. This shouldn't be hard for you to grasp.
My point is that, in my experience with the issue (which is extensive), RNG is a better system than Token loot. I'd rather roll the dice than have everything 100% predictable. I'd rather play a game of chance where I can win big (BiS very early in content cycle) or, yes, possibly lose big too (never see that BiS item). Having all my gear acquisition mapped out, week by week, months ahead of time is boring. Yes this is largely opinion, but in the end the topic is subjective no matter how you look at it.
I've done that. Multiple xpacs, actually. But I dont feel entitled to BiS in every slot just because I raid endgame zones every week.
We get as close as we can to full-BiS, then a new xpac comes out and we do it all over again. Thats the nature of MMOs. Random loot drops is still a better system than Tokens, imo.
The wow token system is still rngish. They just split the main armor set pieces up into 3 groups. You still could go weeks without your token droping, while the guy who plays druid has 4 different sets of armor because the druid token is always dropping. The only thing blizzard did recently was add daily quests where you could earn coins which gave you a bonus roll at loot for another shot at that piece you really want.
The whole reason games like FFXIV and wow have rng is to keep you playing longer and you can't gear up super fast and then quit till next patch.
Our static hasn't seen any Casting gear drop yet...not one single piece >.>
