People forget XIV wouldn't be a haven for retards from other mmos, if XI didn't exist. They act like playing another mmo and coming to XIV entitles you to more than playing XI....Wrong no one has payed SE more money than habitual XI players, and since people don't sh*t about XI to wrap their brain around the face that they ruined that game for most of us with Abyssea and the 80 cap. But people couldn't understand why you wouldn't want to outdate content and gear cause they play WoW which does that to you in a matter of freaking months. You don't have 30 min speed boots for crossing over from WoW to XIV now do you? EFF Off
Won't happen. All this thread was aimed at was asking people their favorite zone really. I can't say about EQ and EQ2 but with the exception of those FFXIV is the second major MMO to have sequel (I know it isn't direct...) GW2 is set in the same world as GW1 and we know they are copying a lot of things over. There is no WoW2, AoC2, Aion2, LOTRO2. SE has never duplicated a setting to my knowledge (excluding X&X-2 of course.
Do you think the WoW forums had any less requests to bring elements from Warcraft? And that's not even the same genre.
How bout Guild Wars 2? Been to those forums?
So, calm down. Nobody is remaking anything.
I agree, Kazham zones with the jungles, temple and perhaps even Den of Rancor :D
Tu'lia (Sky) was nice, but I still like Al'taiu (Sea) better...
That being said, I would not like to see perfect recreations of these areas in FFXIV. They would not fit in Eorzea's lore for one, (there are no stories of ancient predecessor cultures like the Zilart for example) and by today's standards, they would look dated and unoriginal. I do not object, however of the devs using past ideas and turning them on thier head. For example, we know the Empire uses Magitek weapons, and I could imagine it's capital haveing archetecture similar to Vector, (FFVI) Esthar, (FFVIII) or Archades, (FFXII) as a nation that is for all intents and purposes, a military superpower, and has a level of technology higher than the city states we have currently seen. You could also have Mor Dhona be the gateway to a lost realm detached from our own, (like Sea) since we know there was an epic battle fought there that changed the landscape.
Rather than a zone, a throw back easter egg would be fun. Like a landmark or npc from the game revived somewhere.
To pick, just for the fun of picking, I'd say the tropical island Bibiki Bay. It didn't have a whole lot to do on it in 11, but was aesthetically pleasing at least.
they should just make a vana'diel expansion where the areas are like a dream of your ancestors and give it a whole new story with the same old mobs and new ones.
I'm not against making a nostalgic area for those FFXI players that feel like it would help them in feeling at home in FFIXV, but it should be something to consider farther down the road when the Square Enix stabilizes the game enough to gather a larger player base and get the subscriptions started. I wouldn't expect them to add an FFXI element to this game before then.
Misareux Coast
Porgonorgo Islands! Yes please! Resort "Paradise Isle" and with a touch of Costa Del Sol from FF7 !!!
I would like FFXI-ish like zones, but of course not a copy but ideas stemmed from FFXI zone, that 9 yr old game was too good for its time! moving shrubs, trees, puddles, random insects, random flora and fauna depending on weather, awesome nightsky, zone only stuff like giant puffing mushrooms in Jugner forest, Flying weeds in La Theine Plateau, Varies fruits and colourful flowers in the Yhutunga/Yhoator Jungles etc etc!!!
No, it's more of a matter of this dead horse has been beaten and beyond.
would love to see some kinda endgame like sky but looked and felt very different, the main part being that it's a place to go and farm pops an kill nm's all day long. this game needs a content that if wanted can farm 24hours a day and that is fun with lots of boss battles.
in it looking the same as sky, maybe a shrunken version of it, tiny little sky maybe in form of a dungeon would be funny to see. outside that though i'd like to see all new stuff, but in reality ffxiv has lots of similarity to ffxi in mobs and looks so i wouldn't cry bout it long as the game play is different.
as for my favorite zone, kazam!!, i loved that zone, i loved getting out of quifim everytime to get on the ship to kazam to grind there on mandies.
I meant more along the lines of a rite of passage to know whether a person will keep playing or not. I know most people quit by Valkurm, and even more quit at Qufim. I barely know anyone who quit after passing Qufim, though. Once you passed those two, the rest of FFXI was just all out fun. But you had to work to get to that point. Valkurm and Qufim were learning experiences, at least on NA release when none of us knew exactly how to go about the game yet.
Sea Serpent Grotto and more specifically Norg
I stopped playing XI after CoP. For some reason though I always liked Gustaberg. Valkrum would be a close second.
Arrapago Reef! or zit'ah.. also updated versions of the music from those zones
i'd have to go with ru'aun gardens.
that was my favorite zone till the end.
Bibiki bay would be an amazing zone to see re-invisioned.
Hell it would be a perfect place to add some "Shallow water" content if they ever plan to add swimming to the game.
I would like to see cities that resembles Bastok, Windhurst, Sandoria, and Jeuno, but in ruins with a lot of plant overgrowth and looking very ancient. Looking like the "emptiness" from the promyvion missions.
valkrum and rolanberry feilds :)
dunes and crawler's nest will bring back alot of memories for me....
Realistically, a direct copy would be a bad idea. Maybe a section of a zone or a building or two. Something small that doesnt scream "we took this from XI"
You know? just an easter egg
Mog House!
I'd like to see new zones that break from FFXI, because it's hard enough to convince people that this game isn't FFXI-2 (and thus completely ignoring it due to bad experiences with it or negative word of mouth) without the devs intentionally doing things like that. The races were already a big hurdle in that respect.
If you want to play FFXI, play FFXI and let FFXIV do its own thing. I think there are seeds of some spectacular sights hidden away in the somewhat repetitive zones now, if they built in some good landmarks in different spots to give each area a more distinct flavor, I think we'll have some awesome zones in the future.
The only logical choice would be a remake of the Empyreal Paradox
It sounds neat. What I think would be great if they did reference fights to older FF titles for fun. Like make an instanced fight against Kam'lanaut from FFXI, or a boss from earlier FF titles, and put you in a small area that looks like the environment of that game. Don't think it would happen, but it would be cool. :D
a lot of ppl seems to like Valkurm.. Beach zone soon :P ?
Secret beach please with a golden bat
To be frank I DO NOT want to see FFXI zones come into FFXIV.
Different game.
End of story.
EDIT: Didnt read through older posts other then opening one :3 Sorry!
