I think the only reason I still play FFXIV is because of the art style. If the developers are serious about glowing weapons and more "heavy fantasy" styled gears, then I might find myself liking the game less and less.
I think if this game looked like TERA, then it would need to play like TERA too. TERA looks like crap and thank heavens for the combat and political systems because they're its only redeeming feature.
I'm glad FFXIV doesn't look like TERA. If anything, I wish TERA looked like FFXIV so I could play TERA and have the best of both worlds.
That seems more like a difference in vibrancy than colour. I wouldn't mind some tasteful increases in lighting and shading and some adjustments of hue, but if you look at TERA as an example of "how to make an MMO", that's when I fail to see people's point.
As long as SE retains their artistic sensibility, I won't mind small adjustments, but total upheavals of the art-style will not be tolerated by myself, that's for sure. I'm sure others feel the same.
Like, some people just don't have taste, is what im saying. (And the designers behind TERA are such people).
I can make my game look like both of those with video settings. I currently have it set to look like the right one. I think what people want is the desert with rainbows through the sand. If anyone can make us a pic of Broken Water rainbowed out it would be appreciated. =P
There's no in-game configuration for it (or configuration for it in the configuration app either). You get it like that by editing your video card/monitor settings, but the game should already look like the edited version, which it doesn't, which is why I'm hoping SE makes it so.
Also nobody asked for rainbows. They asked for more colors than brown/grey/green and for more vibrant colors for what we already have.
I think the color scheme is just fine, there just needs to be variety in the zones. For example, in XI I loved the rollings hills of La Theine Plateau. And when it camed to the Sanctuary of Zi'Tah, I loved the foresty mythical feel, it had just enough color to give it that fantasy feel, anymore than that and I think it would be over kill. The same goes for this game. I think if they put too much folor it will just ruin it IMO.
