Or people who are straight and play the oppoiste sex and still want to romance that sex....
But yeah, a lack of gay options would have me upset

My boyfriend understood. I woke up to the text "Well, now you can leave me for Thancred ; ;" and was like 'um, what?' till I read the post. XD
Seriously though, I would love to see a system like this. I don't think it will happen, but it would be awesome.
Also, blacksmith guildmaster needs more love.
Latest blog post admitting it was only a joke (with potential?)

Well, I think it'd be pretty cool to implement, even if it started watered down. Like, only allowing closer friendships between characters or greater understandings of those NPCs.
I kind of like a Favor system to follows up to friendship level.
It would be a nice way to learn more about each NPC's background from before we meet them in FF14ARR storyline.
We meet all these NPCs in the storyline of FF14 and yet we still know little about their past.
They only bothered to show a bit about Thancred's past because we had questions about his knife throwing skills despite being a Gladiator. Of course despite being a GLA those knife throwing skills were from his old life (Basically Cross-class skill) before he switched to GLA class and joined the Scions.
Now I can never be noticed by my Arcanist Kitty-senpai ;_;
I thought i was legit too! Totally reminded me of FF7, and how many times i tried getting a date with Barrett!

Now I'm sad I cant get love from that rocky hunk of a man Titan.
Actually we do know. XD The 'April Fools Joke' was that the forum moderator put Naoki Yoshida's profile pic and handle on the profile of everyone on the forum. People went wild giving all kinds of random Yoshida 'Letters from the Producer'. I suppose the secondary April Fools was on people who read stuff from the thousands of faux Yoshida postings and took it seriously. I mean, I thought it was funny and all, but I caught on pretty quick.
I have a feeling it was posted this way to see the response from the players possibly to see positive and negative on an idea they are thinking about doing for real.

Thou art I... And I am thou...
There's hope!
Go Bayohne! We're all (almost) supporting your effort, and those few that aren't are irrelevant :DQuote:
It turns out the whole Favour system was a complete fabrication! I know, I know. I wanted it to be real, too. Fans of the system...don't worry! I've set some time aside with the team to discuss my feelings and to beg for it to become a reality. If there are enough burning requests for it, maybe Yoshi-P will...?
i would love to go on a date with Garuda :(
All we have to do is get this topic to 150 pages like the fantasia topic,
TIME TO GET TO WORK!
- Always up for deeper character interactons, things that would make us care for them alot more
- It would be nice if whatever NPC we choose becomes a companion, like the chocobo, and we can summon them to fight with us have them criticize our every action while were running around, pick up random items, although it would be funny seing 100 Thancreds or Y'sholtas in mor dhona O_o
The moment they make romance available, I will make and play my lady character and romance Thancred WITH SHEER UNBRIDLED GLADNESS.
I'd prefer a variety of things that can be done with them.
After a certain amount of "favour" they will do some discipline of the hand for you of your choosing.
Once you are max "favour" start asking for you to support a certain habit of theirs and their mood will change depending if you support their habit or not. This can be from wanting gil, food, gear, mats, certain furnishing, etc. It will basically be a weekly quest.
At this point they can also join you in battle as a companion.
If you do enough eventually by the end of the year, real life time, you can have kids. Which can do discipline of the land or you can make them your apprentice of war/magic.
Just my 2 cents.
This is sad :(

I can respect this. But i'm in the camp that is just really happy Square Enix is self-aware enough with this sort of material to actually realize it's only really worth an April Fools joke. As much as I question their terrible decisions in the last few years, the ARR developement team gives me hope.
Anyway, i just don't see the XIV characters as the type of ones i'd be taking on romantic Golden Saucer rides. There is no real basis for these types of character interactions, and to just implement them randomly would feel cheap to me.
I don't see where you're coming from about your point, as there are many opportunities to find fulfilment in the sweetness of a romance story with ARR characters. They all have their own personal stories and feelings, and their own feelings and thoughts about your main hero that gives me the idea that they really value you. Something that I could very much see develop into a worthy romance system.
It sounds like 'cheap' is a speculation. After all, we haven't seen an actual romance system, only a joke version.
I really want it to happen pleeeze :3

For Bayohne's sake, for my sake, and the players' sake in this forum, I request for the Favour system to become a reality down the road of future patches or expansion. I'm absolutely burning to see this implemented. Seeing how those screenshots and those quests and requirements were played out, it would be interesting as a sort of side-quest adventure with the NPC you are trying to bond with more. It would also be a great Fantasia sink for your benefit and the fan-base's benefit. You said it yourself in the April Fool's joke. "Exploding demand for Fantasia!" Please consider it, at least! Thank you.
Well said, both of you! Omgee.
As is plain to see, we want the favour system! @-@ Of course you should know there are plenty of people who haven't posted who want it badly also. (I know some of them) So the demand is far greater even than just what you see. XD
I seriously hope the favour system gets implemented someday. Hopefully not just something half assed and quickly tossed together, but a well fleshed out system. I can wait. :)
Favour system? A system where the community gets to act like creepy stalkers towards NPCs? No, thanks. I would prefer to not know just how creepy the average player in this game really is. If you want a favor system, do this thing called leaving your house, and go meet a REAL person.
I knew this thread would be full of laughs, and I wasn't disappointed.
I'd like this system too! It'd be a fun addition to the game, something that isn't focused in on end-game.
Vast minority, huh? Got some numbers to throw out, or are you just spilling BS out of your dick holster? Last I checked, there are games without features like this that have more subs than ARR.
http://wow.joystiq.com/2014/02/06/wo...n-subscribers/
That says over 7 million WoW subscribers
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/
That says 1.8 million.
There are some numbers for you. Welcome to the vast minority. Go back to fapping to cat porn.
I'm sorry that you don't seem to even enjoy the rest of the game the way it is now, we however, do, and would like to see the story we enjoy taken a step further with something very cute like this. Also: telling us to date real people is far creepier than video game people DX Have you ever met a real person that wants to date you? I have. No thanks. XD I'm sorry that our opinions differ.
... so it was an april fool's joke?

Unrelated and disingenuous argument, topped by a silly personal attack.
WoW doesn't have 7 million subscribers BECAUSE it doesn't have this feature, and there goes your card castle, collapsing upon itself.
Try an actually solid argument next time. Oh wait, you don't have one.
Can't you just write creepy fanfics instead?
