Nope. Not everyone visits the official / job-specific forums.
Found another one! (after spending 2 days there) Jacques The Snipper - Moraby Drydocks - Rat Tails - straight catch. (used Yumizuno, Iron Jig, Heavy Iron Jig, , Northern Krill (burnt 300 of those), Glowworm, Krill Cage Feeder, and other)
Someone posted a screenshot of them catching the armorer but didn't say anything about it. Others claimed to have had a few misses from the goldenfin in limsa using a yumizuno
Bloody Brewer of Black Tea Brook
Crayfish ball - 8am Eorza time - Fair Weather
------
What are the weather stats on that Snipper? How long did it take for a bite using rat tails?
Are any of these Fish used in Crafting recipes? Will these be a good market for us to sell? I'm a 2star Miner and soon to be Botonist. I want to make sure its worth the effort in getting my Fisher equally as geared. Is it worth it? Are there any uses for these fish? Or is this purely achievement based?
Thanks guys. I'm still here, but I've been so burnt out of playing lately (drama brewing everywhere D: ) that I haven't had a chance to give any of these a shot. Thanks for still going for them!
Stormdancer of the Jadeite Flood
Stem borer - 10pm Eorza Time - Rainy weather
Jaques The Snipper. 2:43 AM. Clear Weather. Rat Tails. Straight Catch. Moraby Dry Docks.
Trying to fish up Goldenfin. Found that after 12AM in clear weather, my luck with Coral Butterflies has gone substantially up.
Currently attempting with Yumizuno. Will come back with further results. Not sure if there's bait better suited for catching Coral Butterflies.

Still looking for Zalera too there, Huck. :)
Just noticed that funny description for Moat Carp (fishing for Cap Diem now) - (...) Legend says that a man in a faraway kingdom once caught ten thousand in a single sitting. :)
Reporting in with my results for the Goldenfin!
Spent a few hours with the Yumizuno with no luck. Switched to pill bugs and got a bite a few casts in. My stats were too low sitting at 335 gathering and 261 perception.
Weather was cloudy, time was 11:35AM.
::EDIT::
SUCCESSFUL CATCH!
Goldenfin NQ. Pill Bug. 2:05PM. Cloudy Weather. 345 Gathering. Straight Catch. Upper Limsa Lominsa.
My guess would be that my earlier miss was due to a heavier weighted fish.
I also find it funny that the fish caught on the upper deck is different than the one on the lower deck when it literally is the same water. XD
Zalera. 11:00AM. Fair Weather. Rat Tails. Straight Catch. Zephyr Drift.
Kupo you're on the roll! :)
Haha, it seems I've figured out the secret... maybe. I need to do more testing! In any case, I just caught another. Keep in mind the time and weather just happens to be when I caught it. This doesn't necessarily mean it's the only time and weather to catch it, although I had no luck with this one at night time.
Beguiler Chub. 10:05AM. Fair Weather. Moth Pupa. Straight Catch. Rogue River.
Great!!
From my observations - every KING is a HQ2 from a normal catch - so in order to catch it use regular/best bait suited for NQ version - in this case http://disciplesoftheland.com/fish/#chub is best caught with Moth Pupa, and Beguiler Chub is the king of chubs. Same thing applies to other fish like Stormchaser. I also try to pick a bait that's available from a local Merchant/Mender.
Looks like my supposition was spot on.
You might be right but why are Navigator's Brand fish out with a yumizuno then?
Updated. You guys are killing it :D. I'll have to remember to bring my keycode generator so I can update the OP while I'm away next week.
The Moldva requires more than 329 gathering. Multiple attempts gave the insufficient gathering error every time.
caught goldenfin during rainy weather too.
Great Gudgeon - West Agelyss River - Crayfish Ball - Daytime - Clear/Fog
Going by a lot of the list for those I haven't caught has lead me to surmise that it's a rare bite factor more than the weather. Bait being specific hasn't been tested so much but could anyone give a bite ratio using the baits they caught them with?
That's exactly what I was thinking! Even more, I feel as though that for every time you catch the NQ version of the fish, there's a small chance of hooking the legendary version. So if you have a 10% chance of catching a certain fish in an area, there is a fraction of that percentage towards catching the legendary. That means in order to increase your chances at catching a fish, you need to find the bait/lure that can pin-point that specific fish. That doesn't mean that that is the only bait you can catch it with, though. What it does mean is that the higher level bait isn't always the better one.
Also, this may sound weird but I think upon maximizing your gathering with food, go with something that increases gathering without increasing perception! You are less likely to catch an HQ version of the legendary, lowering your chances of hooking something too heavy. This works less on mooching but the level discrepency between the mooch fish and the legendary is big enough that the perception at our level barely effects HQ rates of the mooch fish... if that makes sense. =P
Sabertooth Cod - Candlekeep Quay - Goby Ball - Daytime - Clear
EDIT - we're at Go Big or Go Home II now :) 16/37
Just wanted to confirm that it was impossible for me to catch Beguiler Chub with 334 gathering (burnt like 350 Moth Pupas) - when I used food (gathering 339) I got it within 20 tries.
Info from gamerescape.com:
Carp Diem - Caddisfly Larva- NOT confirmed - used ~200 baits and 0 catches. it doesnt fish moat carp at all too.
Armorer - Northern Krill - Daytime - 334 gathering (confirmed)
I'll verify that.
The Ghost Carp is driving me mad. Going by the other catches you might think that a crow fly would catch this fish. I have caught quite a few tri-colored carp. Fished Day and Night Rain, Fog and Sunshine. It is pretty hard to do a really good sample because the weather only lasts a limited time. So maybe I missed the perfect combo when trying other baits. Anyone else working on this one?
I've started researching Japanese fishers - it seems they have a lot info on the missing fish! Here goes!
Syldra - Cedarwood - Spoon Worm - Rain - Night/Day - gathering 346
Blue Widow - Murmur Rills - Floating Minnow - Daytime
Mud Pilgrim - Midge Basket - night - rain (easy to get)
Marrow Sucker - Syrphid Basket - night - rain (a few "gets away" here - kinda like Rivet Oyster)
Judgeray - Wildfowl Fly - 17-20 - sunny (needs LOADS of gathering)
Dark Ambusher - Sweetbloom Pier - Moth Pupa - Night - Sunny - Mooched from Striped Goby
Crystal Perch - Woad Whisper Canyon - Butterworm - Night - Cloudy
Oschon's Print - Moraby Bay - Goby Balls - Day/Night - Rain
Glimmerscale - Nophica's Wells - Butterworm - Day - Clear
Slime King - lower Soot Creek - Crayfish Ball - Night - Duststorm
Dark Knight - Unholy Heir - Crow Fly - Day / Fog
Dream Goby - upper Soot Creek - Crayfish Ball - Night - Clear
Caterwauler - Mourning Widow - Moth Pupa - Day/Night - Rain
High Perch - Nym River - Sinking Minnow - 5-7am - Wind
Carp Diem - upper Black Tea Brook - Crow Fly - Day - Fog
Fairy Queen - Empty Heart - Spinnerbait - Day - Cloudy/Wind
Ghost Carp - Mirror - Butterworm - Night - Rain
Mud Golem - Footfalls - Butterworm - Night - Clear
Old Softie - Clutch - Bloodworm - 5-8pm - Dust
Matron Carp - Whispering Gorge - Bloodworm - 3-6pm - Cloudy
And that's it - 37/37! Need to catch them all :)
I'm fishing up NQ Silvers with 303 gathering/230 perception. No HQ's after 2 days of trying, is it possible with such low perception? I don't really have the money to attempt triple melds on my AF.
Its the gathering thats to low, to get hq silver it must be over 170ilms, think you need around 310isch to catch a very small hq. even at 324 i lost the occational one, somewhere over 174ils, the highest i got with 324. 301 is to catch a silver nq.
