Exactly as they played in XI? That's a big NOPE for me. But the jobs I would most want to see are Red Mage and Dancer. I'd drop WHM and BRD in a heartbeat for either of those jobs.
The former is my favorite job in FF, and the latter was my favorite job to play in FFXI. I like the jobs that can do a bit of everything (though the extent the RDM and DNC could do stuff in XI, we certainly wouldn't get them as they were).
Why not exactly as they played? I recall a ton of imbalance between jobs in XI. Nobody wanted PUP in a group, EVERYONE wanted a NIN tank over a PLD or WAR in most groups, RDM was HASTE/REFRESH/HEAL ONLY in most cases despite it's many other uses, etc.
BLU. Say what you will about the whole process of learning all the spells, but the job trait system was kind of fun and unique at its time. Also, how cool is it to be able to use those signature moves that all the final fantasy mobs are known for? It's going to be interesting to see how it's implemented on FFXIV, if ever. Honorable mention goes to BST, of course.
Well, the classes will be more versatile, certainly. But the question on whether the Jobs get more quests (and abilities) is up in the air. It's a fallacy that's somehow become a meme that Jobs are leveled. They are not, classes are leveled, Jobs are quested. Not one single Job ability is gained through the solitary act of leveling. Not a one. It's an aspect that's unique to classes alone. Though, that said, there could be more class quests as those have all ended on open notes, unlike the Job quests.

How about no. FFXI jobs wouldn't work in FFXIV. They wouldn't play the same is what I'm really saying. After playing SCH on both I really miss the FFXI version of it. It plays do much better on that game then this. I'm also weary about SAM. I feel it's a high chance they will butcher it to high hell compared to its FFXI version.
Keep in mind I would like to see SAM as a tank or DPS.
Dancer x1000!! I'm a sucker for daggers and dancing. I hope DNC is a DPS/healer or support.
Edit: I also loved DNC AF and Relic for males, it was perfect!!

I'd also like to play red mage if say it was more open to other job's skills like you'd expect a red mage to be. (ie, not locked to two other class's skills but rather ALL of them)

However, FF14ARR also offers the ability to introduce a Gunblade Class/Job which was not in FFXI. If that happens then I will be stuck between Dark Knight (Rock) and Gunblade (Hardplace)
For me I'd love to see pup/Sam/rng added
Beserker :D I don't know if it was a XI job though(I never had anyone to play it with me) but I definitely hope Beserker is the second job for Marauder :D.
Summoner. You know, the one with the big awesome pets. Not the weird tiny things summoners have today for some reason.
Yes, the potential... Anyone who potentially had half a brain (let alone a full one) would know better to bring any other job than Summoner to an endgame fight in that game. I heard they got "some" use after I left with Alexander's 2 hour, which proves my point even more.

Personally I would play BLU if I got to choose from XI classes. I know my two brothers would love SAM or THF and RDM.
As for any job I would love to see Chemist healer, morpher, mechanic and gunmage.

I would abandon everything for Blue Mage. My secondary job would have been Ninja, so I'm set there. Tertiary would be Samurai.
I took Blue Mage to the absolute limit in Final Fantasy XI, got Tizona (Mythic Weapon) and all. And I'd do it here too.
I would love Dark Knight with 14's faster battle system, but a bit scared it would end up like a souleater kraken club drk eating the dirt lol

There isn't a job from XI that I enjoyed that I would trust them to port over.
By the same token, they're welcome to port over RDM and SAM. Never liked those guys. (My DRK had an inferiority complex when meriting with SAMs)
Non, As FFXI game play is so different then FFXI any job in FFXI wouldn't fit.
Job by the same name isn't the same job.

I'd say Dark Knight, but would just clarify, "Giant Sword Class". If that's Dark Knight, awesome, if not, I'd still like to see it, whatever they call it. :)
None. They were all far too reliant on gear swaps to work here. ;)
