I'm a new player within the last 2 weeks and my impression is that the game is either very laggy with multiple disconnects within dungeons or it's under maintenance. The first time I have ever seen an 10 hour downtime in any game happened last week.
Feb 26 - 5 hours
Feb 25 - 3 hours
Feb 21 - 3 hours
Feb 20 - 2 hours
Feb 19 - 10 hours
Feb 18 - 2 hours <-- This is when I started playing
So far, 25 hours of downtime since I started playing. That is more than a bit excessive.

This is all I can find
the emergency maintenance is longer than the scheduled maintenance was
That's actually part of the joke. Too many IT Pros in these types of threads claiming they know how to do it better than SE, when they know nothing of the environment. I'm in IT and the only thing I can say is that there is no real way to know when fixing A will affect B, and fixing B will affect C. I've tested many things in a test environment and it checked out under test circumstance, but once rolled out, people found something wrong with it and it had to be revised. It's just how it is.
You should never have a job in QA. In my line of work, ONE mistake in QA means I lose my job, my certification to ever do my job again, and I will probably end up in jail for negligence. Just because this is a video game doesn't mean SE can slack on the professionalism. There is obviously a deficiency in SE's QA department that needs to be handled.
If I had to guess, maintenance will end early... Most do. It is possible they are just allotting themselves a huge span of time just in case it DOES take that long. After all, emergency maintenances aren't planned and likely require some experimentation during the maintenance to fix whatever issues need addressing.
I wish I could be as upset as everyone else about the maintenance. I wish I didn't have other stuff to do.
This will actually be the first maintenance which has impacted me when I've wanted to just get home from work and play, discounting updates 2.1 etc. In... 7 months.
Hmmm. Yup, I'm jealous of all that free time you people have, that's for sure!
It's not just for the Primal Data Center. My world is Coeurl, parth of the Aether Data Center.
This infuriates me. I got cut short last night because of maintenance. So I was just logging on now when the emergency maintenance kicked in and kicked me out (it wasn't even mentioned in Lodestone right when I logged in).
I understand they gotta fix stuff. But I pay to play the game not to spend time the free time I have now waiting around for 5 hours for them to fix things know by then I won't be able to play again to a lot later than that!
If you want ppl to continue playing the game has to be available more often because different ppl have different schedules.
How long has to go by then in your opinion until its fair to be upset over the fact the game is broken every few days?
Most of the time the only people in these threads with any rationalism are the ones upset and raging about whatever.
People come in here and tell us "things need to be fixed" "popcorn" "cry" are these ones who, in their heads think they are the ones being reasonable, well you aren't, basically just come in these threads and troll the people who are upset, post stupid gifs/memes and respond with comments or information totally unrelated or statics you make up.
You can tell by the topic title what this was going to be, and people still come in here and trollupset players and says things like Bai, or quit then, not this thread in particular but thats pretty common. Yea youll have fun where you're server is half as populated.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Kneel and loot for half an hour. Thousand player queues. Servers crashing and being offline for hours or days. Get disconnected and great another thousand player queue.
That lasted for over a month. I don't know what fantasy world you lived in where this didn't happen, but it assuredly did.
The "most veteran" player that i know of who have left the game have done so because of the radical changes the game underwent between 1.23 and 2.0. NONE of the players that i have ever met have left because of maintenance times. To think that long time players would leave due to maintenance down time is ludicrous.
As for the alpha and beta 1.0 players that i know, we put up with the game in its current state because it is 1: the best MMO currently available (though not the best that has existed) and 2: we have hope that it will continue to be fun and will develop into a better game.
My question to you is this; How do you define veteran players if you did not know them before the 2.0 alpha?
I love you (´ ▽`).。o♡
It's like everyone's all "(ノಠ ∩ಠ)ノ彡( \o°o)\ BAD SQUARE ENIX. FIX THIS COIL BUG NOW!"
When SE does that and takes down for emergency maintenance = (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻ "SQUARE ENIX WHERE MY GAME AT?! WHY YOU TAKE IT DOWN!? LEAVE IT UP!!! RAGEE"
P.S = ^ Example of one maintenance issue that could have possibly happened.

I would rather they fix broken things immediately than delay them at all. If the game has to be down for hours or days or weeks that's fine. Fix your stuff. I want a complete gaming experience. What I don't want is bugs destroying players' chances to enjoy the game properly, which is what has been happening over the past several days.
A scheduled maintenance has been... scheduled... they've had time to figure out what they're working on and how long it is going to take them to fix.
An emergency maintenance is an... emergency... they have to estimate how long they think it will take to fix and then tack on extra time for a worst case scenario.
If they schedule an emergency maintenance for too short a period they end up with people foaming at the mouth with unbridled rage over waiting an extra hour, while if they finish the emergency work early they just get an indifferent "what took you so long" before people go back to not caring how much work goes into maintaining a game like this.
Idk... I don't find myself using the drinking bird I bought anymore. Used to use it every time so I can get into the servers since the queues were broken.
Waste of 5 dollars for that stupid bird.
The internet, right there.Quote:
It's better to acknowledge that there are issues and work together, rather than be in denial and blame others.
This is just not good. 2 Maintenance in a row?
I do hope they fix it before tonight. I can't have 3 nights in a row being 90k'd every time I go into an instance. And don't blame my ISP and whatnot. That's not the issue, as many other folks on my server are having the same complaints.
Finally, stop blaming the user/player then defending SE when clearly SE must do something about the issues. It's better to acknowledge that there are issues and work together, rather than be in denial and blame others.
I remember people complaining about emergency maintenances not beeing emergency maintenances if they don't happen suddenly ^^
Been playing on server since day 1 i still consider veteran, especially considering the fact most of the content in the game can be completed in a matter of hours, sure thats not the norm for people playing this game but, ya know, its really not that hard either. Why battle a server boss there's almost nothing to do anyway.
You can defend your game all you want, the fact you through "Put up with" isn't shocking.
"put up with" AKA kept playing when i didnt want to
While this isn't life or death, you are totally correct in saying this screams of a problem with QA.
MMOs ALL have a weekly maintenance window which is usually 2 hours long. Patches and updates usually happen within this window and they usually extend the window by 2 hours. This is common and makes sense. 25 hours since Feb 18th. That is a problem and in ANY environment withing any company anywhere, this would be a huge problem. So saying "It's just how it is" is incorrect. It isn't how it is.
Look, they had to make a hotfix right after 2.16. One of the reasons is it screwed up some of the behavior of enemies in bct and ppl thought they had nerfed those turns, plus there were others issues, 2 day later they had maintenance last night. Now emergency maintenance this morning. I'm complaining because the whole goal of proper testing to is to avoid even 1 hotfix, although that can be forgiven, but when you release a patch, requiring 3 separate hotfixes in about 4 days, it sounds like someone in QA or who manages QA should be fired. It's not professional.
