As a colourblind person, thank you for the change. As "the colourblind guy" in my group of friends, I'm glad you're going to make it a choice rather than force it on people.

As always, Camate bringing nothing but good news. Could you at least post something negative so we know you are human? Maybe something in your lunch wasn't fully warmed up and gave you the burps? No human can EVER possibly bring as much good news as this behemoth does.
Wildstar has it where you can change the colors of the aoes. Better hop on it SE.
I really like the new AOE indicator. If there are people who prefer the old version then it would be great if the team can implement an option for them but please don't take it away.
I'm not colour blind but still prefer the new version and is not distracted from what's happening in a given fight either, it's much more visible to me even in a cluttered fate or precision fight like Coil.
The best thing would be to remove the damned things completely and learn the fights the way we had to in 1.0. At launch I had hopes that the aoe indicators might just be a low level training mechanism and disappear in later fights, but no :(
Thank you mister behemoth! I'm slowly getting used to the new indicators and I'm glad they are easier to see for most people, but in some areas they are less visible and it would be nice to have the option to change them :3
This is the most ridiculous thread i think i've seen in a long time.
And I play League of Legends. This is unacceptable.
Has a change been made to the AoE indicators in the Stone Vigil fight with Isgebind? As a colorblind player, I had enormous amounts of trouble due to there being blue indicators set on against white snow. I know it was probably a flavor decision, but it blends in very easily with the floor and makes it incredibly difficult to see if I'm in the zone or not.
I dont know i found the new indicators to be quite nice, a post like this just goes to show that you can't please everyone =/
Damn, it's like you guys want me to keep playing! Seriously, this level of attention to the playerbase is not only downright impressive when I'm used to being ignored as often as I am with others, but useful. Thank you guys, I've seen a LOT of improvement based on player response/suggestion.
This should happen. Try killing Drakes in Sagoli Desert. Color blends in with sand......
why not just add the option to change the color to whatever we want? A slider or a color palette?
Speaking of the wave animation in the monster skill indicators its dumb. it should be a cast bar that fills up.
Can you guys sync up the "Wave" effect with the casting bar of the ability that's being used? That would be awesome.
Why people always find something or critique every single thing that SE add to the game? wow.
Ffxiv have so many custom options to choose and you want more? i'm starting to hate this community, there is someone that always have to type something negative about a good feature or any irrelevant thing. The aoe indicator is supposed to be very distracting. SE should ignore this topic.
I could say the same of everytime people voice their opinions or concerns, there's somebody who rages and says "I HATE EVERYBODY IN THIS COMMUNITY!" like yourself. What a simple and petty reason to "hate" people. I imagine that isn't very healthy for the community either. Heaven forbid people voice that they preferred the way SE had it before, or have trouble seeing yellow indicators on sand.
I don't get it. It's supposed to be eye catching enough so that you avoid it (ie. "distracting"). What is it? People don't want to see danger so they can escape it?
The new indicator is more like having a mirror shined in your eyes to some players, with the bright pulsing, which impacts them negatively, whereas they were fine before. Its totally understandable. We're able to tone down graphic effects for abilities. I don't see the gigantic harm to the game in letting people toggle to the old indicators.
I personally actually like the new AoE indicators so I would be sad to see them nerfed however having the option to customize it will never hurt, just please don't change it back again. People will complain independent of whatever you do and there will be always someone unhappy with the change.
just have a colorblindness option....
The only problem with it that I have is I can't even see it in things like Turn 1 with the colour change, which as a mnk silencing is kinda important not to get caught in the aoe [still not hard but it really is an annoyance]
Much preferred the red as the yellow I find just blends in with fields, snow and even the dirt at different angles.
I just hope Turns 6-9 aren't going to be yellow themed aswell.
In 1.x we had not any AoE markers...
Perhaps making the AoE indicator 3D would help? Adding a definitive border or making it look cyndrillical or spherical would be cool. But then people would complain about that. The way I see it, you only have two options SE.
1- AoE effects are rainbows and have fireworks blasting out of them. (Can simultaneously show tribute to the LGBT players)
2- Enemies could have the common courtesy to say "Excuse me, but I am about to attack in a fan-shaped area directly in front of me, might try to avoid it best you can good sir."
Its much easier to see in an environment that is red, and also on awkward terrain where before the marker would be partially hidden. I like it. Seeing people get AoE'd less since patch TBH.
Other than the shape, I'd like it a little more forgiving for who go out the area, because even little lag makes you hit. 0,5 or 1s more is not game breaking and helps who plays with not awesome ping. Pro players does not even notice the difference, because they already gone outside the area, and little lagged players will thank you for this.
i just noticed the other day why some people say the new aoe graphic is distracting.
on pc max graphical settings the aoe graphic is very different (very intense) than high and standard setting
Just weighing in- distracting and noisy is exactly what I would want out of these indicators. There has not been a point in my day where one popped up and I though "wow, I wish that was more difficult to see."
And synchronizing the individual pulses to display the cast time would be a very kind gesture for the players. A lot of good games I've played have used that mechanic (especially useful for when I'm running as a healer and the enemy's cast bar isn't showing).
Giving us user-end options can't be argued against I suppose. Not where I would want Dev time spent but whatever.
I like the new one over the old one, at times I could not see the old all the time, where as the new one I can see it
It's awful. The fight against Isgebind is the main reason I avoid Low Level Duty Roulette currently. My first run through, our party wiped like four times because of me, before I finally started sticking close to one of the other DPS's and moving with them when they moved.
And there are like...small beams of blue light that come off the blue AoE effect, but it's still difficult to notice. I'm hoping that they make it so that the effect color can be changed. The standard AoE zone colors are much improved for colorblind players, but that one set in the Isgebind fight is just horrible for me to manage.
i like the way it is, now, with that pulse, u can see it a lot better in some areas, not in water xD
