In 10 years of killing Tiamat off and on, I never once witnessed first hand those shoes dropping. Only that damn Fire Crystal! lol And only saw a Ridill drop once in all that time. No wonder people were fooled into thinking the content was ENDLESS!!! You were doing the same fight 5 years later XD

Sums up all the rubbish on this forum. But imho, I disagree with you. It should not cater to everyone. IRL does not work like that. I know it is just a game where people have fun, and I am not trying to come off as elitist. I'm so glad we don't have to deal with that bs in XIV.

As it stands everyone has a fair chance of getting geared up. Everyone has a fair chance of participating in content. All of this in a reasonable amount of time.
I'd rather content gets played and beaten than sit around for 10+ years because the chance of getting a certain drop was smaller than me winning the mega million lottery. XD

Removing the cap wold be silly but your total should be cumulative. I went on holiday for three weeks as patch 2.1 arrived and I lost out on 1350 mythology. Cumulative total would still be 450 per week but it wouldn't screw people who go on holiday or can't play for a week or two for whatever reason.

This I can get behind. Same with daily rep quests. They allow you to pool Leves when you don't use them every day, why not Myth tome cap/daily quests? Make it only start once you hit level 50, so you don't have to worry about people creating a level 1 just to build up a massive backlog (or even cap the backlog at like 3-4 weeks worth of myth and maybe 1-2 weeks worth of daily quests... Leves cap at about 2 weeks).

I think, the drop rates were horrible but things weren't easy to get like XIV, any unskilled players can rock Allagan gears, only exception now is T5 drops. XIV is not a place where you see a player and be like, he must be very skilled to get those gears but here its like a retard who doesn't know how to play his job properly is geared better than skilled player because of luck.

That is a bit of exaggeration lol. I was doing hardcore HNM(really hardcore, skipping schools, 3am campings etc).. for about 6 yrs of my 9 yr game play. Out of 140 fafnir kills, we had about 15 ridills, but Tiamat shoes were like water... i was getting 2nd(mmmm.. 20Mil) pair lol, it was like 40% drop rate.

I know SE said they wouldn't.. but they should at least show mercy and let it accumulate 2 weeks(900)...Not that im complaining... i do about 15 CT runs per week... so im not worried about capping, been over a month since i did any of those regular "dungeon".

HNMs weren't the end-game of XI since Abyssea. If you exclude Ridill and Defending ring, since WoTG.

Even pre- WoTG there were alternatives to HNM. While Nidhogg, Fafnir, Tiamat and the other HNMs dropped some very desirable items, you could still earn other items from questing and farming.

In XI you had the following content available to you:

1. Dynamis, twice a week or daily post 2010.
2. Einherjar 2x a week
3. Salvage 2-3 a week
4. Sky - Farm until your hearts content
5. Jailers and AV- Farm until your blue in the face
6. ZNM and PW
7. Immerse yourself in 3 nations original story line quests.
8. RoZ storyline quests
9. ToA storyline quests - besieged, Assaults, Nyzul Isle 1.0 and 2.0
10. WoTG storyline - campaign - Fiat Lux (when campaign was good and not the silly shit it became)
11. BCNM/KCNM
12. Abyssea
13. Void Walker NMs

None of the above was HNM. Only the players who couldn't be bothered to partake in any of the above were the ones who were spending their time afk at Dragon's Aery or Attowa Chasm for days on end, while the rest of us really enjoyed a world full of things to do.

XIV won't be anything like XI in terms of content for years to come.
We all expected that.

What we didn't expect was the degree to which XIV would be bare. Why not release a sky type zone instead of CT and Coil? Would have been a much better investment and kept the player base a lot busier.

Don't blame us because we are bored. Blame SE for seriously not thinking about game direction.

Since AF2 is coming it seems like the prices and restrictions of the lower sets (myth gear) should be reduced fairly soon.

Am I the only one who feels casuals would actually benefit from erasing the cap more than hardcore? Hardcore (as mentioned before) will have gotten full ilvl on several jobs as it is...
Casuals would actually get a time to catch up on their free time, as of now they just stay behind... And every week they miss a CT drop or couldn't finish Coil or worst of all, didn't cap myth... Yeah pretty much screwed and getting pushed back even more.

ps: I don't consider myself hardcore or a real casual, I'm somewhere in between. I relate more to casual play though as I don't have an ingame schedule I just try to clear content when I can, and the cap definitely doesn't support that lol :-)

Yea it's their fault for getting everything done within a day or two and never have to log on for the week(Unless you count the 10min dailies). Instead they should play something else, that will totally help the game /epic eye-roll. Maybe give players an advantage to having multiple classes leveled up, because right now it's only for cross-class skills, since you won't have the ilevel to do anything of importance.

If they removed the cap, I would have every job decked out in ilvl 90 gear by Friday. Possibly sooner.

This is why the cap exists.

As casuals have the same myth cap as hardcore players, casuals will never catch up. The gear gap will always be there, as any attempt by the casual to catch up will be blocked by the cap. The main effect the cap has on hardcore players is that it slows them down so they have to stay subbed longer to get everything they want.
Unless SE decideds to drop it, for whatever reason, the difference in the gear between hardcore and casuals will always exist. And frankly, I'm pretty sure most casuals accept this. They know they don't play as much, so they shouldn't expect to get as much stuff as hardcore.

This cap is only hardcore friendly because they have been capping for 10 weeks longer than most "casuals". So that is why these people are frustrated, not only are they not getting the coil drops they want (cause they are casual) they also feel left behind on myth as they started collecting so much later than most...

If most people that play this game are casuals then casuals aren't getting left behind from the majority of people. I really don't see why people have a problem with hardcores that have full iLvL 90 if they are the minority...

AF2 is Myth gear as far as I know.
The AF1 has the exact same name it was in XI. Mythos gear has the exact same names as it was in XI as well for AF2 (Relic Equip or gear)
Abyssea Gear was commonly accepted as AF3.

- WAR AF1 - Fighter Set in both XI and XIV
WAR AF2 - Warrior's set

-PLD AF1 - Gallant Set
PLD AF2 - Valor set

-MNK AF1 - Temple in both XI and XIV
MNK AF2 - Melee set

Artificial caps are /never/ a good idea. Diminishing returns can accomplish the same thing without excluding players or removing their reason to play.

I strongly agree with the allowing for a 1 week (450 tome, to be adjusted as the tome cap is adjusted) buffer as well. If you missed 50 last week, you can get 500 the next. Once your buffer fills (much like the levequest allotment), you will begin to irrevocably lose tomes.

@ faldette - the bar is set too low.
3 hours from now, me and my static will have cleared coil, capped mythos, have our primal weapons, and done a few CT runs.
It really isn't even a day's worth of content.

If SE spent more than an hour discussing this system and the boredom it would create, they would have had at least 5 viable options as a compromise between players getting geared too fast (which by the way is an invalid argument) and players not having enough to do.

Oh what is this? typing this I just got an idea, didn't cost me 3 seconds worth of brainpower. Maybe I should get paid?

Step 1: Make the base item, like Valor Body cost 100 points + an Item from AK/WP
for the vanity and Aesthetics

Step 2: Make the first upgrade cost 200 Myth Points + an Item from CT and Ultima Ex

Step 3: Make the second upgrade cost 300 myth points + a drop from each primal ex + Pharoas sirius

VOILA!!!!

SE has already confirmed AF2 is being released in Patch 2.2 (therefore it is not in the game yet). Myth gear is either "Myth Gear" or "AF1+1/AF+1." Just like your relic looks the same (minus a glow) from your relic +1 (now Zenith), your AF gear looks the same as your AF+1.

To build off of what amon said, the AF2 art design was shared in line letter 9. Love the Dragoon set, they made the helm very reminiscint of Kains armor. There are images of other sets as well.

Royze, I know the bar is set low, which is why I'm fine with the bar being removed completely. Like you say, a better system would be great. Pretty much any system that doesn't cause players to have nothing to do and no reason to help others due to lack of rewards or even access would be better than caps and lockouts. >.>

Make gear drop from dungeons. Stop this useless tome crap. I rather farm dungeons for my end game gear than Myth. Have 4 man dungeons harder/longer and drop i80 or i90 gear. Something challenging. Rather than farming tomes and being bored. Keep coil the way it is. When 2.2 comes out it will be better. CT is wayyyy too easy...why i55 req? Should of been harder with premade 24 mans

Yeah I'd be happy if they capped it at 1800 or whatever, allowing 4 weeks to catch up and for them it ensures people subscribe every month rather than catching up everything in one month every three (probably the main reason they do what they do now).

Nothing should be forced on to people on a daily/weekly must-do or lose basis however, it's bad design and I thought they were getting away from that when they allowed you to store 100 leves.

1) you play for entertainment...so play no one is stopping you their just gating 2 endgame raids all other content is spammable.

Most mmo's release with 1 raid to start off and you might not get another for 6 months or next expansion. We have 2 raids, 5 lv 50 dungeons, 8 lv 50 Primal fights, daily qst and this is solely endgame content after 4 months after release....if you blow though this bro you need to pick up an additional mmo because 1 game isn't going to give you more than this especially 4 months in.

If myth didn't have a cap, then it would be just like Philo, unless it was obtained from Coil, then it would be capped by Coil's weekly lock, and the further you increase the allowance the less valuable the currency becomes.

Maybe differiation could be in myth comming from harder content without a lock, but then it would greatly devalue the lvl 90 gear, and myth gear (in case it was different from top-end gear).

Thinking about it, it would be nice to have dailies allowances instead of daily limits. Like allow you to do 3 "daily" rep grind quests per day, but allowing them to stack up to 9 or 21 (one week allowance) and letting you do them whenver you want rather than 3 a day <_> (yes I realise they would stop being dailies, but seriously, fuck dailies T_T)

I still think 1800 myth is too much as a weekly allowance, it would make the gear obtained mean less, since it was easier and faster to get... but yes it should roll over and stack, allowing you to catch up if you fell behind or didn't feel like doing it before (even though it's even easier now to cap Myth).

Few games would release with 1 end game raid zone. Even WoW had more than that way back when- Eq, too.

Secondly, this is not a brand new game. Like it or not, it's year 3, and while they did an amazing job translating the game into a workable format, it is still 3 years into it. Also- If they created this entire game in about a year- WTH happened to the development speed?? It's been 4 months- they could have developed almost half a new game by now... so why such little content?

They need to stop rehashing primals and release new content. Unfortunately, while the translations of old stuff have been fantastic, the new stuff has been subpar.

SE should have made the relic armor obtainable through quest line with epic battles. The way it is now seems so disconnected to the game, just a grind and get ilvl90...

This way it doesn't stop ppl from getting the gear they want, but through long quest and battles it doesn't give players insta gear (CoP type quest line? lol)

Yeah, it's really kind of strange- mindlessly grind easy small group dungeons for tokens to buy class specific raid gear. What?
