Sad that there's been no further word. Though 200 as a limit is just hilarious, while I can have 2,000 (and soon 5,000) items on my plot in WS.
Yep it is--and as countless others have said it NEEDS to be at least 400 for it to not feel broken.
This cap should have been raised ages ago. It's absolutely ridiculous given the amount of gil it takes to buy a Large House that nothing has been done in all this time.
All houses should have their item allowances doubled, especially large/medium houses. The outdoor furnishings should add about 20 more slots as well.
I own a personal medium house and while I have made it the bes tI can with the limitations, lifting the limitations would just make it so much better. If they have 5 million accounts than put some of that money into housing already!
I own a mansion and I've gotten as creative as possible, none of the areas feel really empty, but I have to FORCE myself to work with big open spaces...
I'd like to use our huge basement to build one or two small private rooms and eliminate a huge open space that is just wasted, but I can't because I already capped at 200.
after decorating my small personal house over and over i'm pretty confident that doubling all limits is a good suggestion. I easily hit 100 on one floor alone to make it look lived in and true. So after the frustration of not being able to what i wanted i moved all the items i could to the FC house (med) and still find at least one floor being empty.
This post started in 2014...... come on se..time to increase all housing limits, small...med + large.
Other older games have item limits in the thousands!!
Its making the game look cheap!
well yeah im on your side with the medium house for private purpose - but our fc house (large) is lacking in athmosphare because of too much empty space. atm we only have decorated 2/3 floors... boom item cap : / and after all why did they add new housing stuff with HW but didnt increase the cap? that doesnt make sense -__-
i would be happy if every floor would have its own 100-cap in a total of 300... + 50 for the garden :D shouldent be that complicated, hm?
My 2-cents. Increase small houses to 250? Medium to 300? And Large to 400? I do not feel that Small houses need to be increased, but people say so. Outdoor plots need to be increased as well +50 items. How can they expect us to stay at 200 when they are constantly adding new items some FC's (such as my own) are wanting to collect, ie. Primal, Raid, Dungeon housing items.
What if they made a few new rooms like where the workshop is? For example a green house, depending on the size of the house. It could consist of 2 levels like in the workshop with multiple gardening planters in it. With an NPC to buy fertilizer?
This item limit is really a problem. :( Our old FC bought a big house but it was so empty, so our new one said that we will only buy a medium house if one is available. I can understand that an increase of items in the garden could cause some stress on the servers since they would be there all the time but everything in the house is instanced, right? So it should be okay to add a bigger limit?
Another thing that would be nice (maybe a little off topic) is the option to buy more rooms for private houses, like the private rooms in the FC houses. We payed the same price so its sad that we don't have this feature :(. This would (imo) help the smaller houses the best because we don't really have much space and if we could buy more rooms (infinite room numbers would be great ;)) we could decorate much more, which also means that the market for furniture would get better and we would have a little gil sink too since it would cost us 300k for each room. I have the problem that I want to use so much decorations especially some of those that you cant remove anymore but at the same time I already know that a small house would not be enough so I would need a bigger one..but I don't want to buy one (after I saved the gil) because I feel bad for the FCs that might lose their chance to have their own house..so right now I don't do much with my house in the hope of some changes. Raising the item limit would be one of those changes and if we are able to buy more rooms I would not need to buy a bigger house. (And if a person can only buy one room in a FC than this should be changed too)
In the end every part of housing is so restrictive for us players. They should have never used such a system for housing since they must have known that their server only could handle so much.
So sorry again for the little off topic.
@edit: I hate the 1.000 character limit....
I know :) thats what I did with my earlier post but I still find it annoying that we need to do such things to be able to post more than that. Its not like 1.000 characters is that much :( I really hope that they will change that one day..its the first forum that I know that does that. But still thanks for the tip :)
Please STOP CONSIDERING THIS AND JUST DO IT! This thread was started 19 months ago. This is not a new issue.
The current limitations are ridiculous, double or triple them. My FC's large house is 60%+ empty space because we quickly hit the limits, both inside and out.
Did I miss the latest update or has it really been 4 months since the last update regarding this? Even then all they said is that they are looking into it. It's been 4 months, can we please get an update? Hopefully you have at least LOOKED by now. haha
I agree, plus with all of this new furniture being added to the game we won't be able to make use of it! I find it pointless having all this furniture in the game and more to come if we can't even fill our large houses that have tons of space. I see that your fixing housing which have people that don't play anymore and kicking them out of their house, so if you took consideration on that and made that happen then I'm sure you can make these requests happen as well.
This makes me really sad ; ;
Ive had the luck to own a small(when housing first came out) a medium(traded for small) and a large FC . My small was a fairly good amount for the space. I didn't over clutter but I managed to make it homey and cozy. My medium is close to feeling like my small but I still end up having areas that are bare and avoiding wall anythings to make the area feel homey. With a extra 50 spaces there is -soooooo- much potential for my personal to make it lovely. As for my large mansion? Ive tried really hard to fill it out. I think ive done a fairly good job but areas are lackluster due to needing to keep it spread out. Ive seen some fc's fix this by literally cutting off areas or part of the basement with fake walls but no large house I see really feels filled out. Now yes, some people do just buy and toss anything inside but im going to say the majority of people who buy houses (fc or personal) work hard for their money to try to make it look nice. 100 spaces would allow me to do so much more with our house. Wall things are a joke. There's no way to fill it out nicely and add much of anything to the walls.
*small rant* . Too many games have more space for all the hard work. There's only x amount of houses for a large playerbase, they tied fc to personal after telling us it was going to be different and after a year we still cant use our balcony/balcony door. The prices for a medium/large are incredibly high and for what? to loose all of that within 45 days if our pc breaks down? I can tell you it took a lot more then 45 for the majority of players to make the money for that house. The system has so many flaws in it and is just constantly backed up by "server restrictions" in a game that we pay quite a bit for. (yes i know not everyone does but if you play as much as I do and have your m sub + full retainers at $2 ea this games rather costly.) better house systems are in place for games that started off p2p like XIV and are now ftp and still run the housing system better, Though I love this game there does need to be a time to stop being okay with bad excuses on why we can't have nice things that are done much better in other games that don't get paid monthly subs + retainer fees + a increasingly growing cash shop.
I can see the posts now...
"There is not server room for me to have a house but there is server room for you to double the number if items those few with houses can store?"
I understand your pain but I really hope this does not get priority over making houses, and the content that comes with them, available to the masses.
An empty house is better then no house.
The amount of items increased takes over a smaller bandwith than new wards my friend. As sucky as the limit of items is, thats just a cold hard fact.
They announced already there is going to be an item limit increase.
They'll be adding more once they make tweaks to the housing servers, they're doing this just so people can have more items on/in their plots & are able to transfer houses.
It will be coming sometimes after 3.1 according to their housing timeline. ( After Reclaim / Friend Housing Share, but before new wards )
Why can't people find things on their own? lol if you honestly cared enough about this issue you could be all over the news and updates...
They've said it numerous times in several sources, the first time was two or three months ago in german gaming interview with Yoshi ( where they also first announced reclaim would be a certainty ). This is the most recent, the live letter from last week. This is the digest, in english.

200 is not enough to decorate a large house. Please increase the housing item limit!
While I would still love an item limit increase, I feel like this isn't nearly as big of an issue as it used to be. Thanks to the numerous large housing items that have been introduced, my large FC house looks fuller than ever while using less slots than ever.
Items like the Royal Plotting Table, which replaced twelve other tables in our war room, or the Stack of Tomes, which replaced three copes of The Five Ages in our library, have really gone a long way to solving slot limitations.
And while outdoor furnishings have never been as bad, I love the new Explorer's Campfire which took an idea that used to take 5 item slots and reduced it to 1. The Cold Knight's Cookfire is so big that our FC yard is using half the items it could, while still looking just as full as it used to when we had 40 items out.
If we can't get a straight up limit increase, I still very much appreciate the effort put into making larger furnishings that fill up our houses more, without taking as many item slots.
It is longggggggg overdo already so I hope they consider it very soon.
SE please do increase item limits (by a lot!) asap please. The overall design of housing is already so basic and sub par compared to most other games (even those much older), at the very least, allow us to add as many items as we like Oo
Remove the punishment of furniture destruction as well... stop punishing players for wanting a change of theme smh lol
We should be able to completely rebuild on a whim and redesign according to season/ event/holiday with no restrictions and certainly never anything destroyed because of it.
I'm kind of embarrassed/scared to share this, but I really want to see this aspect of housing improved, so I'll throw in my support by posting. I wanted to get an idea of how big each house is, so I estimated square units of the floor space (on which furnishings can actually be placed) for each house size, where each square unit is one wall panel x one wall panel (or one block on the ceiling grid). I only counted full blocks, so if the floor space did not include a full block, I most likely didn't count it in order to avoid exaggerating the size of the space.
SMALL (100 Furnishings)
2F: N/A
1F: 9
B: 16
Total : 25 Sq. Units
MEDIUM (150 Furnishings)
2F: 20
1F: 16
B: 20
Total: 56 Sq. Units
LARGE (200 Furnishings)
2F: 40
1F: 56
B: 58
Total: 154 Sq. Units
The big issue I have with furniture caps for large (and medium) houses is how unreasonable the ratio of allotments to space is. The upstairs space of a mansion alone is larger than the entire space of a small, and the main floor is larger than the second floor, and the basement is even larger than the main floor. Larges only get double the furnishing allotment of a small when it is over 6 times bigger. Shouldn't the cap be 600 instead of 200? Having 1/3 the amount of what we should have is the reason why putting down tabletop items or rugs comes at the expense of keeping the walls bare, or leaving the space wide open with no partitions.
I am not asking for more for the sake of being overly excessive, I ask for more because the limit is very off-balanced in favor of smaller houses, and it should be adjusted. Mediums need an increase too; it has a little more than double the space of a small so it should get at least 200, rather than 150. I am not against an increase for smalls, but right now smalls are allowed the most furnishings for the space they are given. I'm just asking to please fix the imbalance first. If smalls get an increase, please be fair and give a comparable increase for the size of medium and large houses too (1:2:6).
I do appreciate an increase is being considered. I'm just hoping a fair number will be implemented when we are finally rewarded with an increase. I love my FC's house and am grateful for the beautiful and spacious design of the mansion. I just would like to do the space justice, but it is severely limiting with a cap of 200.
Although I do like that SE is going in a good direction of making larger furniture to replace small multiple installments in order to minimize space slots (which I hope they continue with more innovative designs) one of my gripes that someone had also addressed is a proper storage function for all of the furniture that SE keeps releasing and adding to the list. A furniture storage chest or a storage closet/attic would suffice rather than having to designate retainers or a whole alt character to specifically hold furniture. Its continuously overflowing. Having a convenient and direct storage space (to probably hold the same amount of items the house/room and outside can hold, but more would me most welcome) specifically for furniture would be highly useful.
Most the furniture are just set pieces from within the game, which I'm fine with but they increased their size by quite a bit. It's really annoying when I walk up to a stove and it's taller than myself and I'm not even a lalafell. I wish they'd retain the more reasonable sizing. It feels like the furniture is being artificially inflated to make up for the lack of it and lack of item allotment. It kind of sucks to have unusable furniture though, or stuff that looks disproportionate if you're actually in the room.
Why do they keep adding new furniture but not more space? :(
Actually, my small private house is pretty much full. I've got 80 of the 100 spaces used, and I'm out of room to put stuff. My FC's medium plot, though, is a different story. It's almost impossible to make use of the "living" decor(food stuff, portraits, books, etc) when trying to fill up all the space we have. We have two slots left and we're saving one of them for a specific item at the moment. I definitely agree that Mansions and medium houses should take precedence. However, if we're talking about garden space too.....all three types need work. It's ridiculous how empty the garden on both my cottage and our fc plot look right now.
(edit: not to say my experience with a small or medium is universal or anything, just sharing)
i think its funny if you get a room in your FC(for 300k) That one gets 50 slots. it can fit how many times in a mansion? Or a Medium house.
Where is the balance guys :)
we are STILL waiting... come ON Square Enix!!!
Please, Please, Please increase! We like to stay up to date with our furnishing. We have no spot in our large home. Our walls are empty. We 37 extra partians we have added to the home. We are unable to put nice items on our 1/2 partian walls. It would be awesome to add flower pots and more accessories and rugs so it wasn't so plain. It really sucks when we want to add new items to look through and see what we can get rid of.
We've had to resort walling off large portions of the mansion because it is not possible to actually furnish it with the item limitation in place. It's a shame to have spent all that much more gil and end up with an interior roughly the size of a medium just to not make it look depressingly barren.
I've seen some decent Large and Mediums, but its all about furniture combos. -1 - 2 -3.
Small houses win at this, they are easily magnificent where as mediums and large can be quite barren.
I believe SE thought about it and decided instead of addressing the lack of server space for housing expansions, they added larger furniture. (haha) very funny.
lol, not large enough. Maybe they should add a swimming pool that takes up half the basement of a large house if they wanna fix that problem. xD
I did read one of the previous posts about Yoshi wanting to fix this in the future after fc house reclamation is added. I hope so, our bar does not have chairs, we cannot add the finer details :(
