Like, right into my weak spot. I hate you Square.
I hate your ability to make me want to keep playing by giving me pointless things.

Honestly, I didn't log sense like, a week before Halloween. And that was just for the ghost costume.
The whole dungeon raid thing isn't really my scene, and it's become the most important part of the game. I'd like to work on crafting and gathering, but there's no real point, and most of the side stuff is very robotic and bureaucratic in its presentation. I'm not sure how much longer I'll play, but considering that when I logged back in today, most of the grand company I belonged to was gone and the streets where practically empty, I may just call it a game and move on soon.
I look forward to coming home after work and playing every day. The game is not dull at all, and if it is for you, why not take a break and do something else? I don't get these threads, is SE supposed to read this and make some changes that magically make you want to play again?
This is obviously a troll thread
If you're bored with the game's update before playing any of the content that was included in it, you should stop paying SE money and do something else that isn't so dull.
Or, you could just come and cry on the forums about it. Like it's going to do anything but rally the other few people who agree with you.
Honestly, that's how it is though. If you've played yourself out of the content, trying to get people to "agree that it's boring now" who don't agree with you is just obsessive.
Go do something else. Seriously. Like, really seriously.
If the included content was flawed then he'd have an argument, but with the exception of Housing that does not seem to be the case. He could even pose the question as a discussion, trying to get real feedback from players and devs. But he isn't. He's just ranting with no purpose, wasting his own time.
The people who bring up grievances don't completely hate the game. They see the potential and are frustrated when it's not fulfilled.
The point of these forums it to communicate our views and thoughts to the community and devs alike. All this "if you don't like it leave" stuff is just being dismissive and angry at the people who aren't content.
If you want to party and just have a good time with folks, party in the game with people you like. On the forums, there's no restriction to content beyond blunt insulting.
Welp, if ya do hope you find a MMO worth your time :). Hopefully when this game has more content perhaps we will cross paths again.
I agree that extreme should be the final tier. If they hold up to their word about each new primal will have hard an extreme modes, we won't have to worry about the next patch being another "mode".
I think it's alright, but if we kill these same primals a 4th time I am gonna riot
Well I mean do you really think this OP was being reasonable at all? If it's not trolling they're just the type that plays these games and doesn't like them. I understand being frustrated with a game, I've been frustrated with a lot of MMOs in the past. But everything they're posting smacks of "everything sucks", how is that for a basis about a real discussion about content?
I can even paraphrase it
"This game is dull"
"If you think what you said is content is decent content then you're dullards"
"If you think Arena PVP is fun you should go play EVE now that's thrilling(lol)"
and it goes on and on and on. I always hate when people trot out the "you should respect people's opinions" when the person is just spewing crap, of course people are going to be confrontational with a person who is full of it. I think a lot of people probably SHOULD quit playing MMOs, everyone agrees they were better back in the days they were less popular, and the people who seem to force themselves to play them aren't getting any happier.
Hmmm, i may be mistaken, but wasn't it you that defended FFXIV servers when the whole lag arguement poped up? So how did hundreds of people post about having this lag and you said it was on our end, but for EVE Online, it's their servers and not on your end? Sorry if i got you mixed up with someone else. Defenders all seem the same to me.
Ok finally my ban for posting a pic of a cardboard box is lifted and I can comment on this thread.
I know the OP, I played with him since P3 in beta, we were in the same FC for many months, and while I am not going to white knight for SE here I am going to point out some things that I feel most of these Im bored posters might want to consider. OP had no job when this game started, he often played 18-21 hours a day in the first 2 weeks of launch. We often told him maybe he should slow down, take his time, not get burnt out. Instead he decided to level every job to 50. He "retired" off of Coil to do so. In less than 2 weeks he had fate ground every job to 50 and after that instead of jumping back into raids he went off on the crafting tangent. Now I give OP props, he farmed every peice of gear and shard and mat to level everything he did. But still...
To those of you saying this game is boring, that content is gone, that its not enough, how many of you have families, a job, outside friendships that take up some of your day? And if you dont, why should you expect a game to be designed on your needs of playing 24/7 non stop with new content all the time? Did it ever occur to you to go outside, slow down and enjoy life? Im not accusing everyone of being basement dwellers, but honestly you guys are in the minority, what do you want SE to do?
I want to point out I am not white knighting for the game. SE has made many horrible mistakes that have made me wonder if they are trying to bring down this game or if suits in a office room are making these bad decisions. I have been left shaking my head many times at the absurdity of the stuff that goes down in this game sometimes.
To Ron: Ron, Im sorry you are bored, we tired to get you to slow down and enjoy things at a slower pace. Im going to say it though, told you so.
Airing personal business about someone then saying i told you so... You are special, princess. I am sure your ban only happened because of a box picture.
Getting Dull eh?

^starlord: How does a bunch of people standing around afk'ing mean the game's not dull?
If they are logged in, they obviously have something to do ( or why waste their money to just stand around?) I am just proving a point that the game isn't a "zombie land". I could take pictures of all the new people I see in Crystal Tower but what good would that do exactly? If the game was "dull" as some people claim, the people afk or people that are logged in wouldn't be paying money for it.
I'm sorry but 2.1 can't really carry people for another 3 more Months for Legacy Player and Player that are already level 50 and mostly in iLevel 90 gears already. 2.1 are great contents to new people I admit and there is so much for them to do.
But what about the Legacy Players and Players who already max out their gears and level? Level another job? Sure, but everything is cap anyway.
1.) 2 New Hard Mode Dungeon
You do it once to see what it is like, and you are done with it.
2.) New Dungeon.
Same as 1.
3.) PvP
Unbalance and just plain boring and tedious after awhile. Especially for PvE players.
4.) CT
One week lockout is really stupid for loots. People want to gears up their alts, this is content for them and yet you lock them out yet again.
5.) EX Primals.
Eh, it not worth it and the weapon is hardly any better then Relic.
6.) Housing
Yet SE make another stupid decision here. No one will stay that long to grind for that amount of Gils just to get a House which served no benefits.
7.) Treasure Hunt.
Fun for a couple of time, but then there a lockout yet again. The 8 people hunt is way too easy to be any challenge, drop are most of the time bad for what it worth.
1) You get Tomestones for doing them
2) Same as 1
3) PvP A lot of improvements can be made here for sure, but it is a nice distraction if you need it
4) CT I can agree the loot lockout is extreme 3 day lockout would be just fine personally, However, I love running the raid just for the tomestones ( 200 Philo 50 Myth), the content itself is fun so I' kinda cool with it, but the lockout need to be adjusted for sure
5) EX Primals are a much needed challenge and if you don't wanna waste Myth on Zenith then Using EX Primals is a good way to go about it and still get Myth Gear.
6) Housing I do agree that prices are over the top, but it will be going down in price with them intervening and the 6 hour price drop in time Housing will be content for everyone to do
7) I do Treasure Hunting all the time ( every 2 days= 2 maps +FC Maps= 20-30k on kills alone not adding the loot that comes out of it.( Some Fights are annoying like Chimera (and you don't know when they are coming because it is completely random on who you fight.)
( You also forgot Beastmen Quests which you get 6 a day)
Overall I feel it will last them until 2.2, if you are talking about the hardcores why of course they won't have much to do, they normally burn through everything anyways :P.
1) you do them to change up what you do to Tome farm. more dungeons to do to get tomes the better!
2) same as 1
3) pvp is super fun once you get leveled up and some pvp gear and pvp skills. just like any form of combat content.
4)CT is great for us that really dont have much time in coil. This gives me 2 raids each week to get something from to help get out of hte ilvl 70 crafted/DL gear. Also can run it as much as we want with the FC till everyone gets their loot for the week.
5)The weapon isnt suppose to replace the relic its suppose to make it easier and an alternative to the long quest chain for the relic. and the ilvl 90 accessories are great! no to mention a mount.
6) SE is fixing this by lowering housing costs in mid to late january. ive always said housing was to expensive.
7)there is no lock out on doing maps... only a lock out on getting maps. so if 8 people have maps you can do all 8 maps or you can buy maps or save maps up till you ahve alot of them.
I'm not QQ, if you read what I said, I'm talking about Legacy Players and players who already already full iLevel 90 Gears. Yeah I know you can do it for Tombs, but why you need to? Level your ALT? Sure, but it already Cap anyway and it just a way SE try to make you stay longer for subscriptions, and what about players who feel like Darklight is enough for their ALT since they hated the cap, or don't want to gear out their 2nd Alt to full i90, that would take another 6 Months?
Like I said, if you are new players. There is tons of contents you can do. But older players who have full gears already, there isn't much. The game have been out almost 4 Months now, don't have to be a hardcore to get max level and max gears right now.
I am not exactly new ( made a new character when the game first launched), and I still have plenty to do. I just progress in a different way.
I try not to skip Gear as much as possible, so I get DL> CT>Myth>EX Primal stuff> Coil
When Vanity comes out I will have a certain style to choose from :).
Dang it mods.
I really wish you would stop ninja cutting my posts.
What did I even say wrong?
I wasn't aware logging off would save your money, is this a new feature? Hmmm? lol. In all seriousness, your point is moot. For one there used to be alot more people in the areas you show. You used to not even be able to move 5 feet without bumping into someone in some places.
I mean heck, we can turn your point right back around on you, if there was so much to do, why are people just standing around? :o In any case, just being a little bit of a devils advocate there.
Meaning Unsub and don't pay for their game. I don't understand how difficult that small concept is?
Game has potential? People have been saying that for 3 years, at this point it's either you like it or you don't simple as that
Excuses to stay when a person clearly hates the game is kinda stupid.
PS: On a picture you obviously can't see people moving, I was just showing people are logged on. If they are logged in, they should have something to do. (That can even be as simple as talking to your friends) If not, why do some people continue to sub if your not doing anything productive with your playtime ( or dislike the game) in Eorzea.
well go do another game for a while and check back later?
Ah here we go. Semantics. But the most important one yes? Let me put on my devils advocate hat one more time here. Maybe that's why many people stick with this game. I know i do. But lets ask one important question:
If all your friends would be gone and the majority of players were to, say, leave to an upcoming mmo, would you still play? Would the game hold up on its own? I guess the real question is, do you play the game for the game or are you simply here for an over-glorified chatroom?
In otherwords.. just because you have fun socializing in a game does not make it a good game. The game must be able to stand on its own merits, not have a crutch like socialization, because in all reality, you can do that in any multiplayer game. :p
But i digress. :p people that will like it will do so.
Biggest thing was there free company houses , if you look at the other 50+ mmos with guild type homes. That square we assume never did research on and made a lot players lose there trust. And it has felt like there still lost in ver 1.0. Feels like we went back a decade on there guild houses. Be nice that they get some other people hired to help them. It would be cool big name consult , also to get stuff caught up, Seem yoshi-p only one that got a clue and not enough people behind him. I know those that working on stuff are working there behinds off to get it done and they have done a great job to a avg point, but with the right help you would cut it down by 50% the work load and faster game and updates.
Give the man the money CliffyB.
Of course it can't hold it's weight if not many players played. I just don't understand why people say game has potential ( some people 3 years) if they truly dislike the game. Why put themselves in all that torture? Spending 15 bucks a month.
I know people want this game to be great ( and the game is great personally), but for the other people, if you were the ones the paid every month up until now 1 year and 4 months= roughly 130 bucks. Let me ask you, was it worth all that money currently? ( I am asking those who are really complaining about the game hardcore but still play anyways.)
i have to admit im finding it a bit dull :(
Hate to say it, but I'm in the same boat as Gramul. I started ffxiv with a desire to focus on crafting and gathering, since my prior experiences with mmos often left me penniless. After completing the story, updating my crafting gear for advanced recipes, getting ready for coil, and going on the mother of all grinds with my chocobo, I feel I have so little to show for my work, and that SE is marginalizing all of the things I was enjoying (my chocobo can only participate with overworld content, coil is only once a week on success, my crafts have a glass ceiling with item caps and can only go to i70), in their place lies the way of more dungeons with people that bail at the first sign of difficulty, a stagnant economy, and red tape.
I have a lovely FC, I don't have a lovely game, and I honestly am not certain what else is left to look forward to given the lack of customization.
The mechanics Yoshi and his team have selected to stretch out content and thus keep people subscribed are inherently dull, so the game is dull by design.
The main target of the methods the game has is to make the player (feel) bad for not playing, creating the sense that they are falling behind if they do not max their Myth each week, get their Coil run complete and get the CT drop of the week, because if a week passes and you did not fill those, you cannot recover that again, and you will be behind the rest of the people who did. Adding to this one are the new Beast tribes daily quests, if you don't do them, you won't max their reputations whit everyone else who started at day one. This is also enforced by the fact that crafted gear is worthless at high level, so if any player want to do the end content, they must pursue all the other gear.
I know everyone plays at different pacing, but the sense is there, if you are playing with a friend and you cannot log in one day, you will be behind him. So the game is now a set of tasks that must be completed daily and each week, and as such, they get old and boring, fast. The game it's designed to force you to play, whether you are having fun or not, and most probably, you are not having fun, not with these tasks the game is imposing. The fun comes form the play time with friends and the human interaction. Maybe the fights and instances were fun the first 10 times, but after all the forced grind, they aren't. And with this, if the fun comes from playing with friends, the Duty Roulette forcing you to go alone, just detracts from that point because you cannot even /tell your friends inside an instance (and no, not everyone has their same friends in the same FC/LS or want to talk about everything wherever someone else can read).
There are many other design "flaws" in my eyes in this game, but those are the biggest, and they won't change because this is Yoshi's vision for ARR, and looking at the changes they made through 1.0 to 1.23 and then further to ARR and now 2.1, it seems it's only to get worse and worse.
I already quit and canceled my subscription, and I'm sad about it, because I was really invested in FFXIV, but it's no longer FFXIV, it's ARR, a game I really never wanted to play.
Pretty much what Dannythm and Kallera above me said, to the dot.
If the adjustment includes a slower paced combat, interesting exploration and a dangerous world, open world instances, crafted gear being the best in the game and the physical/class level separated again, I may come back if not... I have until April to post in the forums while my sub runs out.
