Commendation System: So who get's your vote?

I noticed that for some odd reason I got most of my commendations from leveling DRG for B4B not just one or two per run either I would often get all 3... Also get a lot on SCH, I thank the tanks and dps for doing silly pulls so I have to work really hard to keep us up (or a tank dc in the last boss and I heal the melee, that was fun).
But yeah mine really depends I don't look at the job, I think of who was nice and not sucking up. I do sometimes give it to the silent new dps, if no one stands out it's the normal I'm dps it goes to dps, I heal it goes to tank, I tank and the heal deserves it from healing me. My confidence in tanking is so high...

That was awesome. Provoking and Flashing as a DRG saving healers from newbie tanks all day. While topping dmg.

Simple, who left the best overall impression on me...

that includes thinking beyond, aiding ppl with hints and being friendly and/or communicative at all.

if it´s equal or no outstanding character was there, i prefer to give it to a DPS, cause most ppl think just dealing out damage is not really a big task...

And sometimes i don´t vote at all, when the grp annoys me by a simple "hi" and just running silently through the dungeon for example.

BTW - Felt awesome as i got all 3 Votes as Bard in a Guildheist last time ^^

Honestly we need more people to be nicer to Tanks, its the cruel treatment that is given to Tanks that make people go DPS. We also need more tank classes because you got the warrior that can hold mobs and the paladin that can hold a single target(boss). There is more variety with DPS, probably also another reason why its popular.

Actually, I have lot more fun playing healer then dps...and as a dps you also have to stand the pain of neverending queues. And as far as low level dungeon go, I feel dps is more effort then ehaling, since healing is simply spamming a key and throwing a dot every once in a while basically all the way up to Brayflox,, while dps has to look at adds and stuff. And in case of say monk, I always feel a bit like in Benny Hill Show.

As for places like CT where yu really have a lot of choice, I generally commend the one who made me laugh the most (since without jokes and stuff that place kills you bit by bit inside) or say a tank who always volunteered to MT, since it seems 90% of the tanks in there hate tanking duh....and of course someone who gives tips etc.

I noticed myself that I get mroe commendations if I screw up or throw insults at someone, rather then if I do all great, give tips etc <.< Unless I'm on whm and solo heal battles. People is weird....

I was referring to a stereotype xd But really, I cant see how healer is easier than dps? Then again, I play a bard xD As brainless a class as I have seen in any game. No interrupting skills to dodge aoe. pretty simple gcd rotation with a priority system in place for the non-gcds, and all this made even simpler via macros..

Whoever makes me laugh gets the commendation.

I'm not the type to throw insults around, but I definitely notice I get more commendations when I screw up. I think it's because of how I own my mistakes, rather than making an excuse. A perfect example happened last night during the last boss of Stone Vigil. In phase two I ate one of the fly by breath attacks, then proceeded to run right into a puddle of death which killed me. I was there as SCH so they wiped shortly after my death. I explained what I did wrong and apologized. We killed him handily in round two, and I left with all three commendations!

Eh as I said referring to low level dungeons, you only really have a skill to spam, while standing still and never running out of mana if anything. If nobody is taking damage, you just spam another skill. :P And while having insta skills makes dodging aoe easier (but is there even something to dodge at low level?), long casts mean less clicks and being able to chat etc during cast :P Obviously hugh level and end game is all another thing, but low level roulette is mostly sastasha and stuff so duh.

Just as a note, it's not like I'm one who enerally goes around insulting :P But sometimes in CT with all those trolls and stuff...telling them to shut up just can't be helped from my part.

I still find it funny how many people never say a word the whole dungeon then at the end. [Thanks for the PT! ] [I had fun, let's play again!] and just sit waiting for that commendation. "Please pick me." Half of the people who do this don't even do their parts. Had a blackmage in hard mode who didn't kill adds or even do fodder. (healer/me on mnk had to while he spammed boss. Just seems so stalker ish.

It feels like to me they are the pedo bear waiting to strike lol.

After rolling as a few more classes:

It depends on what I'm playing. As a fairly new healer I almost always give it to the other healer because I feel bad for them having to pick up my slack. On the other hand, in a 4-man it depends on a lot of things. If the tank was excellent and pulled massive mobs and kept them off me as I spammed cure/physick whatever. If the DPS slept mobs or just killed them super fast.

Helpful people almost always come first. Humor is a + as well.

Lots of things to consider.

Commendation system is sort of broken. If I go into a dungeon with someone else in my PT, we can receive commendations, but can't give them. That seem backwards to anyone? SE's solution to "we don't want people giving commendations to other people that they queued up with" is to just not allow them to give commendations at all.

How about just make the commendation pop-up window only show people you did not queue up with?

I asked the very question, why isnt possible to give commendations to people not in your party?

I give to both the exceptional and the unfortunate

I will give them after excluding:
- id***s (yo armor is LOL I'm teh best!)
- elitists (omg a noob! votekik! I leave!)
- bisches (fudging tank! l2aggro! / Where is teh healer? / Yo dps too low! l2dps!)

Then IF someone still commendable :cool:, I'll go by sympaty, if tank, I'll be grateful to the healer who kept me alive, if cannot decide, I'll wait until there is only one to commend ;)

Tanks
Hold aggro? Marking enemies? Know the mechanics well, or listen to someone who did? Stop and wait for people or just run thru? (This includes waiting for players to catch up or recover MP/TP.) Did you ask if we were capable of pulling the entire room, or just do it and hope for the best?

Healer
Anyone die? Remove debuffs? Know when to use certain spells? Pull to much hate? Did you help DPS or did you just stand in the background doing nothing but casting Cure every 10 seconds or so...?

DPS
Know fight mechanics, what to attack and when? Attack the targets in the order the tank marked them? Did you work with the team or do your own thing? Did you pull mobs instead of waiting for the tank to do it? Ranged DPS stand so close that they got hit with debuffs or had to run away to dodge? Did the right person LB at the right time, or even use LB at all? Know your rotations and deal good damage?

I hate this one. I've noticed when I'm the healer, if someone dies, I normally get no commendations. When it's my fault, okay I understand that. But usually it's because of them refusing to dodge, or lagging that gets them killed.

"Yes Mr. DPS, I see you there at less than 50% health, but the tank is currently taking a beating and if he dies, we all die. So don't get hit by avoidable attacks until I get a chance to cure you." I should really make a macro with exactly those words lol. Because it's so easy for bad/new players to blame the healers for their deaths, when in my experience it's usually their own fault.

im a tank, and most time ill give my vote to the heal. But, when he/she is an elitare, "noob" cryin`A**hole, then the vote goes to in my opinion well workin dps

As a dps, unless someone does something exceptional, I'll commend the other dps.

When I go in with a small pre made party. I always tell the other players that we are in a party and can't commend them. I don't want them to think we are being rude, or didn't appreciate their help.

If members of a pre made party can't give commendations then maybe they shouldn't be able to receive them as well. And their names would be greyed out or not listed in the commendation window. That way non party members will know exactly what is going on. (Just my opinion)

Currently when players form a pre-made party of less than 4 players and jump into the Duty Finder to fill up the remaining slot, those in the pre-made party are unable to give commendations to the player who joined via Duty Finder, even if they've done a great job! While the restriction against vote commendations for pre-made players will remain, the team is looking to allow everyone to vote on those who joined via Duty Finder in around the release of patch 2.3.

Big agreement with Odd above. People using this as a basis for judging your group's healer is in poor taste. Whether we are talking about this game or another, there is a universal truth to healers. A healer's job is to repair the damage you take, NOT to make you invincible. The fact is that about 90% of the time someone dies in a group, it is not even the healer's fault. A healer at best can only put out X amount of healing in Y amount of time. If the rest of the group is poorly equipped and/or sloppy in how they fight, it is very possible for them to eat more damage than the healer can keep up with.

This wouldn't be a very good game at all if a healer could guarantee that everyone lives. Nor would it be much of a game if every little death was the exclusive fault of the healer.

As a healer in 8 mans, if I screw up I make a point to give the other healer credit in /p. I've screwed up pretty bad, and done this, and received commendations myself! I assume the other healer is thanking me, but sometimes I get more than 1 when I know I screwed up bad... and I'm guessing if I had stayed quiet I'd get the 0 I deserved. It's really interesting how people handle commendations.

Players who screw up and know it, or have lag, yet I manage to keep up are often thankfull, and know the healer saved them... Those are the commendations that make me feel good :)

Why can't we give commendations to more than one person? If the party was rock solid, everybody gave their 110%, and I want to commend everyone but I can't?

You should always commend the tank. We are the ones who rescue you from your long queue time by deigning to run the dungeon. We are the limited supply, dps are just pawns that kill things for the tanks.

if people are talkative i have a much higher chance of giving out a commendation. if the whole run is silent i dont give one out, why reward people in a multiplayer game for being anti-social? lol ya know?
i also tend to give tanks my commendation more often than i give it to the dps. they do a lot of work to keep me from pulling aggro with my heals. that being said, i do give them to dps once in a while, but they have to be friendly or stand out in some way. dps are a dime a dozen.
when i do dungeons i usually get 2 or 3 commendations per run so... that leads me to believe most people are giving them to the healer in the group.

I give commendations based on who stands out.
If noone stands out, and the group didn't suck, I give them out randomly.

Always, the DPS since I know how often tanks and healers get them. Unless, the dps are over zealous. Then it goes to the tank if I'm healing or vice versa.

Nope cause I've gotten a lot of bad tanks and they don't get any. If they do a good job I will give them one. Don't know how but I get a lot while playing MNK, sometimes I get all 3. I wish I could give everyone in the party one, sometimes I get a really awesome group.

This should be coming, look for it around the time of the first expansion, expecting them to release everything for one piece of content at once is absurd, releasing little bits over the course of a year keeps it fresh.

Ignore this one, children. Thou shalt not reward ineptitude and a poor job. Tanks already get spoon fed everything with instant pops - when they suck there's just no excuse.

Always prioritize your DPS, unless they sucked. But you can always just boot bad DPS and get new ones. Good DPS, however, are crucial for your smooth and speedy runs. Try and remember that. ♥

I would much rather the restriction work both ways. If 2 people join the duty finder in a pre-made party I think that not only should they not be able to give a commendation, but they shouldn't be able to receive one from the other 2 players as well.

Purely performance based. I prefer to give rec to new comers that follows instructions well. Tanks if they can hold aggro, keep healer/everyone alive. Healer if they can manage their mana well and dps on the side. I've encountered only a handful of awesome dps that doesn't get hurt a lot and DPS well. If there are none, I give my rec to no one.

I commend based on role. If I play healer, I usually commend the tank unless the Tank wasn't very great or had a bad attitude, then the commendation will go to either of the DPS. As DPS, my commendations always goes towards the healer because the Healer is the true hero of a party. The Healer keeps the entire party alive, while its the party's job to keep the healer alive. A great healer can keep his team kicking, even against a boss after the tank bites it and can still rez said tank to regain control of the fight. I've had it happen to me while leveling my Arcanist and I wish we had the commendation system then.

I usually go to whoever made the run interesting and fun. It's why I play.

This might be a little open for abuse, could have 3 people make a group then have the 4th sign up for a dungeon then try to get him in the DF, all 3 vote him, once he has all commendations he needs, swap around with one of the others.

Pretty much the same here, but the other way around (I'm a healer primarily, so I tend to upvote the tank), unless a DD has done something spectacular or the tank is a jerk. Players who are helpful and friendly get bumped to the top of the list.

I want to know why you can only commend 1 person. This doesn't make any sense, if the whole party did a good job why can't you commend everyone?
