It's not actually, but you're not going to believe anything until you see it with your own eyes.

The class adjustments alone will make a longer list than the whole year of patches in XI combined.

Not that the end result will be a better game, but there sure as hell will be more of it than what XI saw pre-RotZ.

Ayayay. So I DO know a bit more than you guys. So you didn't see the wedding cake/rocket launcher/ship battle trailer? Was it never officially released on the English site? Yes, Beetle, they did actually show them in the trailer and they did speak about them in the following press conference ^.^/

Yes, they showed us a slideshow with a pic of a cake and a boat. At that point it was clear what the features were all about.

I don't think they talked about them at any point. They showed the vid and moved on. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.

We are all aware of this, it was the prelive show, was shown prior to launch. Search Eorzea Prelive

Also not to mention the Hairstyles existed in our files on launch, and worked fine, but were removed Around the new year. So plans changed!

We still know nothing of said features. It's like the stuff in the first letter of the producer, except with vague pics.

ffxi was finsh before they released it, expansions finshed before the came out. not the case with ffxiv now there making it on the fly, they should of took everything the learnd from ffxi and used that to build off of, but no the decide to make them selfs look like there new to making games, reinventing the wheel.

no, look at the patch notes, all of this stuff was not developed before the game came out, we re talking JP release here. They had numerous issues, reworks and rebalances that wouldnt have been needed if the game was already developed, such as adding magic bursts, the addition of Dlevel to all damage and accuracy equations, addition of mining. I dont know why i provide hard evidence, and people are going off supposition, and what they heard, or thought, look at the patch notes, it outlines all the foul ups, changes, tweaks, additions etc that happened in the life of ffxi.

once again look at the notes, pre rotz, they added 5 jobs 3 level cap increases, new zones, and 2 tiers of missions. 15 levels of skills and spells, even with the new job additions and changes the game will not come close to pre rotz changes
AND rotz came out 11 months after the game was released, within 1 year they did massive amounts of fixes, added vanilla content, AND worked on a new LARGE expansion.

there is simply not enough progress for the amount of time, even if they deliver every single thing on that list after a full year of work.

I am not saying they suck or they are bastards im saying ok, now we can look at the 1 year plan, and see that they are currently falling way behind where they should be in a years time. They need to look to increase productivity, i cant think of a single game mmo or not that could show so little actual development in a years time.
this is progress of the game expected by 1 year from release

addition of basic quests
3 large NMs
24 basic NMs
2 dungeons(or types)
7 job specializations
auto attack
rebalancing of job skills.
marketward search feature

thats it for 1 year of development, the list of ffxi can fill multiple pages, look at the list of guild wars 1 numerous class balances, new items and zones and a whole new expansion. aion went from 1.5 to 2.0. AOC, Warhammer.

the worst part is the game didnt even start with a lot, its not like they had a strong base content wise or a complete game, it was full of bugs, basic problems, over sights and a tremendous lack of content.

right now the development team is failing to produce development at a pace on par with thier past selves, and their current competitors, this is a serious problem.

Who cares? why do we always dump this game's shortcomings because of what FFXI didn't do? IMO FFXIV should've been the equivalent of FFXI and 2 expansions at release and its quite clear why considering the game is still FTP.

funny thing is the dude your quoting isnt even accurate, they had up to level 65, 4 ranks of tiered missions, 5 new jobs with quests, artifact armor quests, and chocobos came out at the very most within one month and a few days of release, this is if it wasnt in even before that

i dont know why people are making up information and posting it as fact, the truth is out there.
fact is FFXI was a release plagued with problems, reworks bad ideas, etc, and they fixed the game to basically Rotz within 11 months, even before rotz they had way more content than we have and will have by 1 year anniversary

And from that experience they learnt: nothing! And repeated.

Apologist can run the eternal excuse game, but in the end it's the results that matter.

They can be good they can be bad...sadly, majority is still bad. People still leave, game still blows, and time still ticks tocks.

Reality is a frightening thing, that's that.

they should have at least matched their update pace, if they were going to use the same plan.

The funniest part about all this is it's the year 2011 and we have seen more done to a game in 2002 that had way less competition to worry about and wayyy more examples to from other games to replicate even their own game.

And the sad thing is people still don't realize that XIV is getting a revamp on damn near everything compared to XI.

FFXI was the first MMORPG that I played (Probably the same for a lot of people). I didn't know what to expect so everything seemed fun. After several years and playing different MMO's I expected a lot more from FFXIV. It's like they didn't learn from their mistakes. Comparing both games doesn't really do any good because we know which is the better game. FFXIV will never be FFXI, but I like to think that SE will make the adjustments needed to make FFXIV enjoyable.

They're slow, and there's a lot of work.

Again it's results that matter, not the excuses. Until results come, it will be the same.

Maybe there is a secret, mythical, hidden reason for why SE is slug-slow.
But consider one free market economy fact:

Customers don't care for excuses.

I'm not worried about whether SE is "guilty" or not. I'm worried about the survival of the game.

Also, XI had an expansion 1 1/2 years after launch. XIV is being overhauled, why do people purposefully ignore this fact when it comes to "soandso had content additions after suchandsuch time frame!"?
