Mad props and massive (I know how the British love that word) congratulations from Singapore!
congratulations!
Ok so congrats to you guys for beating it.
But I have one tingling question that I'm compelled to ask. Now that you have beat Turn 5, what does the next quest ( that requires turn 5 beat) in The Waking Sands (Scions Hideout) ask of you?
All I know is its another Story based quest.
Congrats BG! :)
Someone should give them some real competition though.
Congratulations, most impressive. I love how you guys didn't back down and continued pushing even tho everyone said it was glitched/impossible.
It is a great win :) congrats! Interesting that the first win comes from a western community and not from Japanese (typically they are pretty proud & consider themselves hardcore).
It'll be even grander if they win it with a WAR and not 2 x PLD.
I'm saying this since, presumably the fight *can* be beaten by a standard party setup and designed as such, as far as Yoshida's claim is.
Any chance you guys will bother attempting it with a standard party setup ^^? It would be awesome if you can manage that before patch 2.1!
Grats!
I predict some other guilds will down it this week.
That is properly awesome. Congratulations!
A big congratulations to Blue Garter from all of <Resonate>- Behemoth.
I knew you guys would pull through, although as a very curious MRD/WAR player... I would adore seeing that axe :P
Took me a while because it is contradictory, but maybe rexie meant a group with one member from each job and called it "standard setup". rexie just forgot that a DPS job will be left in the bench in a config like this anyway. I wonder which one does not deserve the title of "member of the standard party setup"...
Hi Cotti ^^
I don't want to turn this thread into a discussion ^^ I'll clarify though. What I meant is, Yoshida supposedly designed these fights so that you can do them with any job (within their role) interchangeably; He did mention though that by having SCH & WHM they compliment each other well in 8-man raid...
So now that they have done it with 2 x PLD, can they do it with 1 x pld & 1 x war? It would be interesting to see if they can do it, since devs "supposedly" balanced this fight with these design parameters in place.
Having said all that, seriously CONGRATS on this amazing feat :) Yoshida said not even 100 will do it by 2.1, and you guys are the FIRST!! It is something ^_^
Congratulations!
Congratulations guys, great accomplishment!
Vid or it didn't happen lol
Congrats guys, had a feeling you would be the first to pull it off! So only one person in ARR is walking around with an allagan weapon huh? Hope hes got bodyguards lol
Fair enough, got it now - I stand corrected.
More or less on topic now, I wonder who will be the first non-legacy to reach this feat, since gear is pretty much leveled now.
I feel that horrible itch to spoil myself with the story again after the world first claim...
I don't think legacy/non-legacy has anything to do with it at this point. The legacy FCs that rushed to 50 for endgame grinding are less than a week behind the legacies who started at 50, and with how random drops in BC are it's pretty much more about luck than how much time you had to grind the dungeon out.
A very lucky FC could get nothing but upgrades for everyone, and this for 4 weeks in a row.
A very unlucky FC could get upgrades the first week and then no upgrades for 3 weeks.
Big congratulations to Blue Gartr.
I am very curious to know if there are any more quests/main story after you turn in the win for turn 5 at waking sands?
no vid still?
what are you waiting for?
if people dont want to see how to do it and try it themselves....then they just shouldn't watch the video.
the longer you wait the sketchier this is looking...
Congratulation!! ever since I have been following your bahamut coil discussion thread, I have been waiting for this lol. (When will the first pt beat it, and who will it be).
So I remember some people here used to say that there are more main story pop after beating coil, can you guys access to it? (other than additional cut scene you mentioned)
Would be really nice if you could also insert your party member gear/status in the video.
We've released our video into the wild. Huge thanks to Verily for recording, encoding, and editing.

Quick question. I'm guessing no PS3 players among you? Can any Twintania slayer confirm that completing any instanced dungeon (or perhaps Coil turn) after beating Twintania unlocks the PS3 trophy for defeating coil?
I ask because most of the PS3 trophies work on a "check with server" system where they unlock after you do the same category of thing once while on PS3 (e.g. killing 1 mob while on PS3 after killing 10000 mobs on PC, or completing one dungeon on PS3 after completing 100 dungeons on PC).

Love,
this was awesome until I saw that
I stilll don't know how your scholar could have avoided dying to those twisters and the other source from just watching the video. Is the encounter design meant so that some people will inevitably die and rezzing strategy is part of the encounter?
pls ask sirius to do mrd dps :p
That conflag trick we our WAR just suggested tonight before your vid came out and I though it was dumb. Turns out I'm wrong :X
Noticed Peng pulling his punches before Conflag phase. Is TP deprivation that bad later on, or is there another reason?
If I may be so bold to ask; in your kill video, which player was the Australian? Additionally, who were the Europeans and how was their latency compared to the Americans and Canadians on the American server?
Well done with your world first!
Verily Vale - American
Sniper Rifle - Canadian
Junpei Gunso - British
Arin Arae - German
Lilaea Syvara - Australian
Sirius Taco - American
Carraway Author - American
Tyrith Peng - British
Latency is always going to be a small problem but not enough to make a big enough difference.
I posted this elsewhere, but I figure I might as well drop it here too:
I don't think the twister mechanic itself is "tuned" in an interesting way, but the interaction with the dreadknights is decent, and I like the tuning in the last phase a lot.
If you want to count, twister dodge rate for the kill was:
Carraway: 1/1
Arin: 2/2
Verily: 2/4
Sniper: 3/3
Junpei: 3/3
Sirius: 3/4
Peng: 2/2
Lilaea: 1/1
Each individual in our kill group has, at one time or another, achieved 80-90% dodge rate over a night's worth of attempts (~4-6 hours), and sometimes over several days' or an entire week's worth of attempts.
