Grand Companies of Eorzea should be... A new system for the game
but now it is... just another storyline quest
I really want to ask:
If you love the storyline quests that much... why don't play console games?
Content doesn't just appear out of nothingness in a fraction of a second. If you cannot be patient and wait like everyone else, I'd recommend taking a break. The stress is obviously getting to you. You know...the stress from all that waiting and free time...
Here's mine: speaking bullshit. And you saying a lot in this personal attack.
I'm just tired of people fighting for every thing, even the most unbelivable. And asking for less lore? In a FF game ? Because is an online game ? Seriusly, what's playing all the people ? lego mmorpg ?
ok, it's not a fanfiction
it's a devfiction
Ok in all honesty they did give some information on what grand companies are, ill run through it again for those who cant see past the lore.
Grand Companies will be a new allegience players can join
It does not matter where you are born/come from
they will have various missions for players to do
they will have content/quests/missions that varies from battle, to gathering, and crafting
you can try out different companies early on.
Eventually, to progress you will have to pick one company
You will get a rank in the company
Ranking up in the company will provide items/gear at high levels, and unlock harder content.
So yeah there is info that we didnt really have there, but i still say they should try to put more of this type of info in game in some form. Its good stuff to have, allow the option to be given to all players, not just those who read the lodestone.
The game wasn't ready for release when it was. I wouldn't expect it to be at 'release' level until a year after it's release or when the ps3 version comes out. If you can't handle that, well I'm sorry you don't enjoy beta+.
Also, that sounds like a bit of a pathetic existence you have there... I hope you find something more productive to do with your time.
I don't know why everyone around here is so confrontational. Evangela has a valid complaint about the game failing to live up to expectations for his/her particular playstyle.
If the game offered lots to do (you know, instead of lots to read), then do you think we'd bother complaining about additional lore items? Of course not. But if all that the game has to offer is lore, and little else besides, then I am afraid to say that SE will have to learn to live with 10k subscribers. If that.
And we both know they won't.
They will cancel services, and you will lose FFXIV altogether. Lore and video game both.
But maybe as a compromise, they will keep lodestone up so you can catch up on your official fan-fiction to your heart's content.
I'd love to see any of these complainers do what SE has done and get a international MMO with all languages localized at the same time for patch day.
Korean MMO's released in the states are all 6 months behind their Korean version. and American MMO's released in Korea/China are 6 months to a year behind when released in Korea/China.
We're getting all the updates and localization at the same time. Be thankful.
Maybe it's because I'm not a western gamer, but "Go play offline games if you want a story" isn't valid. It's also insisting that MMORPGs shouldn't have storylines or lore.
So maybe it's just not a part of my culture and we prefer lore and storyline, in-game and out. This is why there are games that have novels, because it's explaining and detailing the game's universe. If you can prove to me Halo, Mass Effect and Dragonica novels didn't sell, I'll admit there shouldn't be outside lore.
The information given was:
-You will have to pick your company
-There will be ranks
-There will be diverse assignments, to include battle skirmishes with Garleans and suppling the army/camps
-Higher ranks will get better missions
-We are free to participate at our own pace, meaning that participation is not required, but we won't receive the rewards and glory, and possibly miss out on a lot of lore (which is a big deal to a lot of people) if we do not.
-"Yet know that disaster waits for no man", implying that there will be events and special battles/missions
It may not be the information some are looking for, but it is information, not just story.
Edit: Physic beat me. :)
Its a system of storyline missions, and dungeons. Why do you think console games, and online games are different? the difference is supposed to be the ability to share in a world with other people, the world of any RPG will revolve around story, adventure, and lore. They said early on thier goal was to attract players who enjoy ff series but may never have tried online games, that means it has to have storyline, and a world.
Eva, you are just a grinder, that is fine, but dont try to make the game worse by suggesting they should just have unmasked grind in everything. The point of an MMORPG is not really only to level up and get leet gears, even less so an FF morpg. You play ffxi? the best gear often involves some story, and requires you to do a bunch of missions that involve story, exploration and the like to get access to it, sea, promivion, sky, dynamis.
This was actually a strong point of FFXI, and i think its good it will be coming back
QFT.
And I believe we already had the debate on presenting both lore and in-game news events in another thread, and we all agreed that they should be available both in-game (lore via quests, news events via newsstand/town crier) AND available on the Lodestone. Why are we having this fight again??
WAR IS COMING AND YOU ALL BETTER GET YO ASSES READY!!!
then they should tell me what I'll get from finishing those fictions
I don't care what Amal'ja leader or female roegadyn want to do with the spirit of nature or beastman or whatever
give me informations about how this system work, screenshot of dungeons and what is award for finishing these quest
OK. I think I understand where Evangela is coming from now. It's a very reward-centric perspective. There is nothing wrong with that. Players with that perspective probably prefer that the reward should be the starting point of how the game content is presented to us ... like this.
- There is a powerful sword.
- It is in a dungeon under this volcano.
- Only members of some organization have access to the dungeon.
- The sword is guarded by powerful fire-based creatures.
- If you can get the sword, the organization will let you keep it or turn it in for another reward.
I have to admit, that is pretty straight-forward and direct. Which is not a bad thing. But some players (like myself) would find they have questions about the above.
- Who's sword was it originally?
- How did it get under a volcano?
- Why does the organization want it?
- Why is it being guarded?
To some players, having meaningful answers to the above is almost as important as finding the sword itself.
To each their own, I guess. Just wanted to say that I think I understand Evangela's position now. I personally don't play in that style, but it is a valid point of view.
Then that begs the question, why on earth would you hang around here instead of playing one of the current mmos available with their hurrendoues stories, but PHAT LOOTZ available?
Seems like FFXIV (and previously FFXI's) pretty much singular USP as a semi-story-driven MMO is lost on that kind of player.
that's right! you can dig up all story you want after you gave me that sword, I'll stop complaining and teleport away from your eyesight forever!
in real life we have soldiers and historians, our goal are not the same but SE only feed everything for historians, making soldiers angry
