The Garleans are after the primals, not so much us.
They went right past Gridania towards Dravania (where the Wyrmking resides), but got decimated midway.
Wyrmking = Bahamut = King of Primals- it's more likely than you think. -

All we know is that Garlean activity is rising rapidly and it seems like they are gearing for an attack, but are the Garleans responsible for the weather and all the other strange things happening. I wouldn't have thought so, something else is afoot here as well. -

Well, I've picked up some new dialogue, not sure if it fits, but it mentions the Seventh Umbral Age:
Gegeissa: But sadly, it bore grim news. It seems bold souls claiming to be the Archons of legend have begun appearing across the realm. And what's worse, they claim to herald the coming of the seventh Umbral Era.
Gegeissa: Come to think, I once read a prophecy about the seventh Umbral Era in one the tomes at Arrzaneth Ossuary─though years of youthful excess have left my memory in far too sorry a state to recall all the details.
Gegeissa: Anyway, there isn't a soul south of the Bloodbrine who hasn't heard tales and songs of the Archons coming to Eorzea, imparting to all the will of the Twelve. Never thought I'd see it in my own lifetime, though!
Gegeissa: Do you think this might have something to do with the beasts growing larger in recent days?

This is quite interesting its deffinatly coming thats all we know i just hope over 1.18-1.19 we see MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR content additions and changes to the game.
