I like the market wards

I'd like to ask... What is the point of bidding? Why try to guess at a price when you can just be told outright what it is? (the current system)

The two most common complaints for an AH are "I want Price History" and "I want to instantly get my item".

Price history is a double edged sword, and one side is sharper than the other (namely the negative side). Sure, it gives you an idea of what price things have sold at in the past... but it's also much more exploitable than just comparing current prices.

As for getting the item instantly... I'm sorry, but I just find this to be a silly argument. "Oh no! I can't possibly be expected to actually move my character for a few seconds to pick up my item!" Those 15 seconds could have been spent killing a mob! Damn you SE for wasting 15 seconds of my time! I demand instant satisfaction since those 15 seconds are very important to me!"

I like the Market Wards also.

Would be nice if there were quests that you could do with your retainers. Or maybe send them off to far away lands and maybe they could bring back items.

A global search feature + free teleport to other cities' wards would adequately replace the idea of an auction house. Maybe if they make the search feature accessible within the UI when inside the wards, instead of running all the way to the corner, it would be make it much more efficient. I like the realism of the wards and I actually live inside it in the game. I run around looking at what people are selling as well as looking for things I can fix real fast for quick money. I call the Limsa Battlecraft Wards as my office. When my linkshell mates need something repaired or want some weapons, I say "Hey, come to my office!" Corny, but gets a laugh every now and then. So yeah, the market wards does leave some room for some role playing, and some times I like to pretend like I'm weapons dealer, Tony Stark.

Not everyone wants their order now like a fast food order, some people do enjoy shopping, maybe see how it looks, look for different colors, look for better quality, price, and maybe see if they find an armor piece that is better to wear than what they originally looked for. So yeah, it's different from what people are originally used to, and there will always be people resistant to change, but it could work and maybe even better than the auction house.

Oh and please open doors and windows in the wards, so it doesn't feel like a prison lol. It's very dark, depressing, and stuffy in there.

The reason I like the market wards is because they are quiet. I like to sit in them and work on my crafting. When I need something, I just run and search/find it, and buy it. Sometimes the people I buy from will have other items I'll pick up too, as usually if they have one good price, it will all be good prices.

I also like my retainers a lot. I spent a lot of time picking them and choosing their names, going through all the choices several times before choosing one. Having them hold my stuff whether I want to keep it or sell it is very convienent. I don't have to shuffle things around and make room when I'm carting things from the bank to the AH in this game.

AHs are very crowded and "bustling". They're not a fun place to be.

This is just the way I feel. I don't consider my opinion to more valid than someone elses. Some people just want to get what they need and go, and I understand that, I just don't feel that way myself.

Oh and since I live inside the wards practically, sometimes people come to me directly and ask for a discount on what I'm selling on my retainer and I give it to them, sometimes we negotiate buying in bulk price. Like "Hey, I'll buy these 4 spears from you, can you give it to me for 40k each?" Stuff like that you just can't do with the auction house.

Since, Limsa Market Wards is kinda small, I actually do know who my neighbors are. There's like 4-6 of us selling in battlecraft, and sometimes I do ask them not to sell their stuff too high or too low.

I like the market wards too, but there's one thing I'd like to see SE do to improve it. I've been looking for a green cotton bandana for a while now but it always seems to be sold out, or no one makes them anymore and has been sold out for a while. What I'm suggesting is, even though the green bandana item icon is still there even though it's sold out, I can click on it and have the option to commision someone to make it for me. Or just show crafters that there are people that would buy that item. That way crafters know what will sell and what would just sit there for weeks.

Kind of like this.
*Player sees Iron Spear for sale but can't buy it since it's sold out*
*Player clicks on the icon and gets the option to commision/let crafters know that someone would like to buy it*
*Crafters see this and decide to make one and put it for sale in the market*
*Player goes back the next day to see that there's an Iron Spear available for purchase*
*Player gets his/her spear and crafter gets his/her gil*

Maybe you can even have the option to name who wants to buy said item.

I like them too! An alternative to AH for sure.

Not really much hating, more like constructive discussion ;)

Either way though, im sure SE will settle on something eventually, may just take a bit of time to see the system come to fruition. As it stands now though, im almost 100% positive that we will see changes and improvements to the current ward system. I only hope SE uses some of the suggestions we have brought up in these topics to continue making a quality game!

I believe you can do this already but you have to do it to yourself or your retainer, just like you put up seeking items on your bazaar for like sheepskins and shards, and someone with the item in their inventory can just directly sell it to you, without you being there, and they automatically get the gil you put up. I haven't tested it yet if you can do these on weapons or armor yet though. I usually search the wards for what is available and what is not to get an idea of what to make next.
