If I can't sit on PC and log in not needing to spam 0 for hours after the Wednesday maintenance, i'll simply ask for my refund. I paid for something that I'm not having. No need to waste a tear.

SE is vague on the communication side. Most information is not specific in nature.
No one expects the game to be flawless. It's pretty bad. Games I have played in the last year or two were OK at release. You could always log in and play.
Issues:
Issue 1. Lobby errors. Closes game. No retry.
Issue 2. Unable to get list of servers from one region or another. Not seen a case where both regions are unavailable.
Issue 3. 1701. Unique to FFXIV. Unacceptable.
Issue 4. 10102 error. Usually occurs after disconnection during instances. May have been addressed.
I think the data center upgrades will be a step in the right direction and suspect SE will follow up with further patches that will address the individual server load issues.
People are mentioning free transfers. Probably not a bad idea. There is no point staying on a server you cant access.
According to what I read it seems they are only adding new servers.... which means:
-they are not upgrading current server capacity
-not instilling auto-afk kick feature
-not announced free transfer to the new server
So it seems the current problems will not entirely addressed. However it seems they are aiming at:
-increasing login server capacty (fewer chances of getting 1017 and most likely the return of queues)
-they also seem to want to release "some" of the login restrictions.
Now it seems like the congestions will still be there, just less cloggy. Maybe i missed something? Maybe I didn't either way I'm not rerolling on a new server so if they don't increase server capacity I'll just have to suffer through it.
Before they started limiting the logins what was crashing was the duty finder, infact a lot of people were getting stuck at instance cutscenes or sometimes the duty finder would just reply with an impossible to connect error. We are being limited not because we cannot stay online but because spamming the duty finder with quests and dungeons will make it crash stopping everyone from playing.
Getting a better duty finder will solve the bottleneck so that they can let more people log in. If they also get a better lobby server that will solve the concurrent logins issue.
Odd... I could of sworn the first time i read that post from Yoshi (couple of days ago) there was something along the lines of 'We decided to cap the servers very close to the 5000 limit' - Im paraphrasing of course, but yeah. I distinctly remember thinking to myself how bad that particular part made the situation, since they didnt really have the option of upping the server cap... Hmm.
The reading comprehension in this thread is beyond awful...
They are adding new servers, the existing servers are being capped because the Duty Finder was crashing.
They are upgrading the Duty Finder servers as well, which will allow them to uncap the existing servers...At least that is their plan, we'll see if they actually pull through.
This is exactly the problem: the current servers are over crowded and they are not increasing their capacity, rather they are creating new servers and then will charge us to transfer characters. As Grey said, "Most of us are already invested in our characters too far to abandon them."
Something that would make me happier in the interim while they try to fix everything would be to fix the world queue. I would much rather wait in a queue of 50, 200 or even 1000 people enter my world -waiting my turn fairly- than try over and over to get an error message that it's full. Square Enix: if you read this post (I sincerely hope you do!) please think about this recommendation. Please also offer free server transfers for one character of our choice.
Please provide with information re just how many accounts have characters on each server, not how many characters they each have. E.G. you have a maximum 5k people who can play at one time. Are there 7k, 10k... accounts with characters there?
