With all the mako like reactors nearby, and the comet crashing in, I imagined a huge influx on the material being available and Garlean interest in location. Midgard jr. XD.

Or perhaps our side will harvest better.. We do see a train station in one of the 2.0 screenshots.

A little fact to add strength to your statement. In FFXI, it was possible to bring Lion back from the dead after she sacrificed herself at the end of RotZ, and let's not forget the number of times Sephiroth has been resurrected, and Emperor Mateus and Garland before him. There is a precedent in the franchise that allows Van Darnus to return. One more thing to consider: SE has him listed under the adversaries page on the official ARR site. that seems to imply that he'll be back in one form or another.

The White Raven is dead, considering the end of his story line you meet the Black Wolf, and he makes a statement saying he is glad you vanquished him because he wants a world he can rule over, not a decimated world. I'll look for the screen grab of it, and post it later. Most likely the Black Wolf will take over where Darnus left off, and become the new world threat in 2.0.

Cn reminds me of a bunch of slapped together retaining walls with a bunch of storage crates strewn around. That area is the epicenter of what ever the hell is going to happen with the flaming ball of death. That place is not built to last.

I don't mind the darnus speculation, but can we try to keep this thread from getting derailed from the original intent to the point where we might not get a dev answer?

Rep - tell them (devs) we are dying for a list of unobtainable(s). Even a WIP list would be great (but keep it updated, not last second 40 item add/remove -_-).

Its been quite a while since we were told we would be getting a list (I know recently a rep said to look forward to it soon, but seeing as we are on our last month soon should be like this week or now.. lol)

And yet it is a fortification. temporary forts are usually built from local materials like wood, packed earth or snow. Castrum Novum on the other hand went beyond stone and was built with armored curtain walls and reinforced gates. It doesn't paint me as something that's going to be torn down easily. Also, it makes more sense from a logistical view: Why move all those men and resources into Mor Dhona if you're just going to abandon it afterward? That place was built to stay.

Well that's because their technology level is high, or else they likely would have made it out of 'local materials'. They also had to have it fit the use of communicating and basically pulling down Dalamud. If you look at patch 1.21 I think they sent wave after wave of troops near the cities just to distract from CN's construction, Garleans are more than willing to "waste resources" if it fits their plans, which as we seen with Darnus he doesn't truthfully care about much of anyone.

I wouldnt be suprised if Darnus does come back in one form or another in 2.0
