It should be much closer to black mage than red mage unless they make significant changes to Rez tax. It should be doing black mage levels of damage once you take into account their raid damage buff.

This seems to be their idea of turning hammer to a mobility tool than a part of your rotation. They tried doing the same with triplecast but you know...
Horrifying what they did to PCT. I was really happy to see the nerf had been only to potencies and had no mechanical changes, but that relieaf left me when I saw the reality of the situation: hammer is now a loss in uptime.
You are telling me your one minute buff, the attack with the most satisfaying animation in your whole kit is now a loss in uptime? Not only did we already had a mobility tool that is a loss on a vacuum in holy in white, bit now you are lossing on damage if the painter job paints?!
PCT for sure needed a nerf but they have gone the completly wrong way, not even bothering to do some quick maths to see if stuff was even worth clicking.
It's impressive how incompetent the people in charge of job balance are at their job. They didn't even bother to double check what they did to PCT, and didn't even tought for a second about buffing the jobs struggling in the dps department.
I truly hope savage comes with a quick fix to this whole mess.

Absolutely gutted that they managed to make yet another one of my main job feel absolutely AWFUL to push buttons on right when they seem to finally be making mechanically novel fights. (at least up until 8). Like I don't care about numbers, that's not what brought me to picto, but this adjustment really damaged how interactive and rewarding my kit feels.
Honestly, half of me wants to bow out of the game because watching that overcapped hammer feels demoralizing as hell, and the other half wants to bow out because as soon as I swap to another job it feels like SE'll suck the fun out of it as soon as I find a groove.
But over all that's one whole of me that wants to dip, and that kind of breaks my heart?
If you don't care about numbers, then nothing changed. You will literally not change a single thing about what you press when on Picto in a whole encounter. Not once. It's the caring about numbers that exposes the flaw with the - otherwise well-sounding - balance changes done.
Nerfs were warranted, but hammer needs a hotfix ASAP.
in no universe does it feel right to waste an auto crt/dh ability because casting 1-1-1 is superior.
This really wouldn't have been a problem if they addressed PCT in earlier patches instead of delaying it till a week before savage release.
Hope they address it sooner than later.
Why VPR? Samurai has cast bars, I get that, but Viper is a fully mobile job with extremely little going on so like Summoner it allows you to pay full attention to the fight - a very easy job to play.
Shouldn't Viper deal lower damage, owing to how "safe" it is?
