Still no auto-combo for 123 on old jobs.

at this point 123 combo doesn't mean big brain really, it is just a static hard coded 3 skill that require to be clicked 100% of the time in a same order in filler stages of the fight.

so making it auto as 1 button will work on some jobs like: PLD, DRK, GNB, RPR, MCH, DNC, VPR

People discovering that this game is just about following scripts to a T and memorization. Jobs also follow that model for most of them, so if you remove the separate buttons, you essentially go against that memorization and scripted dance.

This isn't to say that I disagree with, quite the contrary. It's the whole model of the game that conflicts with the idea.

I'll only want this if they add more other dps buttons to the old jobs & make it optional.

people complains about illusion of choice in talent tree when they refuse to merge 123 combo as 1 button, even it is scripted as you said.

My biggest gripe with the braindead 123s is, whom are they even marketing this artificial ''difficulty'' to? I'm gonna take a wild guess here and say that at least 30% of all players are in only to use the game as a 3D chat/social box with a pretty customizable avatar. Like those people might not even be interested in the actual game at all and will maybe go through the MSQ while mouse-clicking random buttons arranged in the way they came with the hotbars by default, including the ''Play Guide". Another 30% might be interested in the gameplay to some extent, but not remotely enough to actually go through every tool tip or arrange their skills and keys in a smart way. Probably a lot of them will only spam the '3' of every chain because it has the longest text and hence must be the best and only skill worth pressing.

On the far end you have the Ultimates which are cleared using 1-button-rotation hacks, zoom hacks and full screen overlays that will paint the mechanics that are happening next on your screen, that is if people can even be bothered to actually play them and not just buy them in the bundle for $100, so I really don't know what they are trying to do with FFXIV.

And then, if you look at the huge download number of <snip> the thing that does what this thread is about, it's safe to assume that almost every player who is somewhat serious about content already uses it anyway.

I think Yoshida's justification regarding not consolidating combos was that hotbars would look too empty, and I'm pretty sure that was back when tanks had separate damage and enmity combos.

None of that has to do with consolidation to increase decisions-available-per-button. MCH and SMN keys-per-actual-decision became more bloated, not less, with the changes from Stormblood to Shadowbringers and ShB to EW, respectively.

i leveled viper up to 100.. i certsinly dont want that to be the norm, its terrible

i want to atleast make aoe combos 1 button its just a waste of button space

I'd rather they just remove the combos entirely at this point and make all the jobs have newer things they can do in place of it. The combo system is kind of a holdover from when you had to be careful with* gcd timers and also not clip the combo. These days it's just filler since there's not much thought behind when you need to finish it. Kind of defeats the purpose of it being a "combo" if you can interrupt it lol.
