Yeah. i can understand that. I like the idea, but it certainly can be improved. I don't mind the idea of angel wings as opposed to something more Titania inspired or something, but the flowing white robes and the less-than-stellar appearance and physics of the wings aren't amazing. But I'm not going to go too nuts over it. We've barely seen it, only from the back, and there is a chance it will still be altered between the media tour build and early access - probably not a great chance, but a chance.

The problem outside of the angel vs fairy thing is the fact that if you look at all SCH’s skills in the past and up till seraphism SCH maintained a very strong split in its identity, skills that procced off the fairy were fae themed and skills that came directly from the SCH were tactician themed, they never blurred that line (the closest was expedient having the butterfly motif but the skill was distinctly tactical themed)

This skill completely breaks that distinction, even if they changed the ugly angel to something like we become seraph the skill is still wrong because the SCH isn’t the fairy. The fairy is a tool, one of many the SCH has access to and the visual distinction is pretty much the last thing SCH has

I see where you are coming from, but the fact that it's likely to be a buff on a two minute (or longer) CD kinda makes up for that issue in my eyes. It's not like you as the tactician SCH are being replaced by some Fae folk that is possessing you or something. I'm thinking of it more as a buff that Lily gives you from time to time to help aid you. If it was something that occurred frequently I could sympathize with that complaint, but given that it will probably only occur a handful of times during the average encounter I think it's just fine.

I mean near all CD’s are 2 minutes that doesn’t change the current distinction, deployment is 90, chain and expedient are 120, tactics from the SCH, illumination and seraph are 120, whispering dawn and blessing at 60, fey skills from the fairy

If anything a 2 minute CD should be exciting enough you want it to come off CD faster (I know I’m gonna get mad dopamine from the landscape motifs on Pictomancer) not a “well it’s ugly but at least you only have to see it once per 2 minutes

To be fair that's sounding more like a "you" issue at that point rather than any intrinsic issue with the class.

Im just responding to your point that “it’s likely a 2 minute CD so at least you don’t have to see it very often”, it could be a 10 minute CD it still horribly clashes with established visual organisation of SCH’s design and I’m using other SCH skills to represent that

A “it’s a rare CD so it’s fine it’s ugly” is just really strange stance to take

Well I don't really find it ugly. Could be better sure, but I think it's fine.

I just think being so upset about the aesthetics rather than how the skill may or may not end up handling is a weird take, but that seems to be happening a lot around here.

I mean job aesthetics are one of the biggest draw for a game where I can play every job and Seraphism presents the double problem of being an aesthetic that doesn’t match the aesthetic of the class it’s part of and also encroaches on the aesthetic of a different class within the same role

As for function we know as far as it’s at least a GCD amplifier, the fourth one SCH has. SCH already dominates in shielding and mitigation, the last thing it needs is another spreadlo amplifier. There is a chance that what was shown indicates that it interacts with emergency tactics in some way to help with SCH’s pure healing which is another problem given shield healers already have too much pure healing to the point that regen healers are near redundant in the game. If it also has a temperance style mitigation that will give SCH 4 mitigations, twice as much as the next highest class which will just continue SCH’s dominance in every facet of healing as it has absolutely no weaknesses

So even if we leave aside the aesthetic problems the skill is still boring and overpowered and adds nothing to SCH

I'll keep my judgement over Seraphism until I see how it looks in game, but I will say I am not so impressed at the moment. SCH having the faerie/angel motif could work, if SE kept WHM in the nature category. But they keep mixing the two so it gets confusing. Seraph was fine for the LB, fine as a skill, but this feels a bit much.

Also the new lore we have from Aloalo regarding SCHs indicates they had other types of familiar they could summon. The first boss in the dungeon is basically a wooden Carbuncle. Plus I wouldn't mind some of these things is I could glamour the Seraph to become a Carbuncle as well. Why can't my Topaz Carbuncle turn into a Moonstone one, huh?

Being upset about aesthetics is an absolutely legitimate issue, considering visual themes are key to class fantasy. Would you feel like a healer if your healing spells suddenly looked like fire explosions? Just literally people bursting into flames but rather than being dead they are healed. What if your other spells looked like someone is being given a giant comically large present box and the rest of your kit was about shooting people with ray guns? Would that feel disjointed? Would that make you feel like this class is just silly and random?

Obviously this is an extreme example SCH is not this disjointed. There is a certain appeal to the randomness and cartoony crazyness, Pictomancer and Blue Mage are examples of that. But those are self contained.

I don't have a problem with the new ability mechanically. Even though no healer really needed another healing CD, especially not another 2minute one. I just absultely despise how it makes your character look. I like the particle effects, I like the angels floating about. I just don't see how that particular dress we put on can make me feel powerful, and not incredibly silly considering seconds before I was a war tactitian with medals pinned to my chest.
