As you can see, simply entering the building gives you a message about the timer being reset if you close enough to start being warned.

I'm not complaining about the demo anywhere, though? Honestly, I'm kinda glad it happened because I'm finally free to unsub and/or go for a Medium instead in the future. It's just annoying that I didn't even get notified that it happened. It was just gone one day.

This would be a good features. Just put it in the housing menu under Estate Settings or something. In virtually every case this topic gets brought up, it's always the person misremembering the demo timer or that one rare case where the guy crafted in his yard but never in his actual house. So making that more viewable would be nice.

How many players are going to think they're going to need provide proof they entered their house on X day when simply entering is supposed to reset the demo timer? Most aren't even aware this sort of thing happens because they don't visit the forums or reddit or any other places it gets discussed.

I know there's some sort of bug because of personal experience not as the owner but as the tenant on two different occasions.

First time is when my friend couldn't play for a few weeks when his PS4 was destroyed by water damage during a storm. He needed to wait for an insurance payout before he could buy a replacement. Once he had the replacement, he logged into game to get things caught back up and entering his house was part of his routine. I noticed on my alt that the demolition was still pending the next day and sent him a tell to remind him to go into his house to reset the timer. He replied "wtf I was just in it last night" so I said it still shows. He checks his Estate timer and sure enough it still shows. He goes back in.

When a friend is standing in their house but the Estate Timer for both their character and my character shows that their house is still pending demolition, there is a problem. The notification disappeared once he interacted with his Mender. At the time, I didn't think much of it because I wasn't yet aware of how many other players had experienced the reset problem or I most definitely would have taken screenshots.

Same thing happened to another friend last year. He had logged in one night specifically to reset his timer because he was just getting back from a two week trip and was about to be gone for another 7-10 days helping family take care of things following a death. That ended up extended a week longer than he expected and during that time the pending demolition popped up on my character's Estate timer. It wasn't a matter of we weren't remembering the dates correctly - there was discussion about his family situation in the FC discord that confirmed the time frame.

There is some sort of bug but it's hard to say what is causing it. A GM isn't going to be able to confirm entry was made if the system never saved the data for that entry in the first place.

This is the point where I'm going to state that there is still some responsibility on the player side. If the house is so important to you, why are you entering it so infrequently that it even reaches the point of pending demolition? There's an excellent chance that this bug has affected every house owner but because most house owners are entering their houses on a regular basis, their demo timer is getting successfully reset on those occasions the bug doesn't happen so they never reach the point of pending demolition.

If your house is that important to you, then make use of it when you play instead of ignoring it for weeks at a time. If you're not using it, do the responsible thing and relinquish it. Let it demo so you get 80% of your gil back. If players wouldn't hold onto houses they aren't using, it would be easier for those who want to use a house to get one - and for those who lose their house due to this bug to get another when they're able to play on a regular basis again.

Yes, it worked as intended on that specific occasion. It doesn't mean that it works as intended every single time an owner enters their house.

I would like to see the Estate Timer reflect the date and time of last recorded entry by owner in addition to the demolition status. If that information was listed, it could be helpful in tracking down the bug and getting it fixed or at least help players avoid demolition by letting them know it did not reset on the last entry.

This is literally why there isn't proof.

People, for some reason, expect others to predict the future and know that they should be recording their screen because they'll be losing their house in the near future.

Like....make it make sense.

The difficulty of procuring the proof will never be the reason to lessen the burden of proof. And you know why it makes sense? Because that's exactly how it works in real life, that's why it's called the "burden" of proof. It does not make any difference what the "excuse" is, and do you know why?

Because at the end of the day you are asking people to believe in a very serious accusation/problem with nothing beyond "trust me bro". You know what doesn't make sense, THAT's what doesn't make sense.

Sometimes it's from a poster who makes exactly one post about it blaming a glitch in the system, and never returns to add additional information or to confirm that it was actually their own fault. The poster is not able to describe what their timers menu was showing prior to the loss, because they were not in the habit of checking their timers menu. If the OP's wife was the owner, he is not coming back to admit it. So we're going to have a thread with 20 people spreading rumors of a bug that causes houses to demolish on their own, and no one confirming it was a user error.

Then the next guy who loses their house googles what the heck happened and they find this thread where everyone talks about "the glitch". They start to wonder: it has to be this glitch, right? Wasn't I just recently at my house? And so a new glitch thread is created. That's why you keep seeing these threads.

No matter how unreasonable or senseless you think my insistent of proof is, I can assure you your insistent of people just taking your word on a serious issue without offering a shred of evidence is even a far more unreasonable request, with the "sense" meter pointing squarely at zero. In another word, even if my request doesn't make a lot of sense, it still make several magnitude more sense than yours.

If you can find a court where "difficulty of proof" is allowed to substitute "the necessity of proof", point it to me and I'll reconsider. Otherwise I can not fundamentally agree with you.

In fact, this conversation reminds me of a one of my favorite piece literature they taught decades ago in school: it's called the Crucible.

Peace and love but I feel like you're taking this way too seriously with all of the courtroom comparisons.
At best case it's a mistake on the part of the OP, at worst it's a housing glitch in a video game.
