Krile has been the same job since Heavensward (WHM) and she is a major character with fans, so it would make sense to give her Pictomancer. I have heard the argument that Alphi should of been it since he is canonically an "artsy type" who paints but he JUST got Sage, and Ystola fans are on a whole different level of nonsense trying to justify her being Picto. And yes, I know Estinien has been DRG since ARR, but he can't NOT be a Dragoon it is pretty much his main character trait.

Would've preferred an unknown new character for picto. I'm actually expecting the msq to be another scion slog for DT when there's no reason for it. I don't care about all the conversations about the voice actor for wuk'lamat....the character is just bad....so that also lowers my expectations....let's hope at least eng game is good and they don't ruin classes too much.

I don't care about Krile being a Pictomancer. I care about Krile now being a more active member of the party, because Krile sucks. Hopefully Dawntrail changes that but I'm not holding my breath.

Sure. I never said the job is Lala specific. Only that they will have the easiest time pulling off the aesthetic. Midlanders, Miqo'te, and Viera (both sexes) can also pull off Pictomancer reasonably well. I think even male Hrothgars could do it. However, the cartoony battle effects remain the same regardless of which race/gender is playing the job. But this is neither here nor there. Krile's personality does not fit the aesthetic. It does not fit the role. She is being shoehorned in because she is a Lalafell, not because it seems like a natural transition.Quote:
And I think non-Lalafells will be fine at the pictomancer vibe. Yes, it will probably work best with characters who (regardless of race) suit a cutesy style, but a single character can pull off so many different moods while only changing their outfit, and in any case it's no different to reaper requiring an edgy mood or sage being cool and collected or any other stereotypes you might want to associate with past races.
Y'shtola changing to BLM/Sorceress makes sense due to her magical background and personality. Thancred changing from Rogue to Gunbreaker due to his protective nature over Ryne/Minfillia makes sense (Ryne herself even takes after him and learns the ways of the Rogue). Alphy and Alisaie's job changes also are very natural and fitting transitions. You say Krile will make it work. I hope you're right. Because everything about her screams that she's a healer. She's as much a healer as Estenien is a Dragoon. It's difficult to imagine them any other way.

Personally I'm itching to play around with it on most of my characters, like my cute male Miqo'te and Viera and my very girly Roegadyn; I've also put together a few costumes in advance including some more serious Renaissance artist sort of vibe that will suit my Elezen, so I think it's quite possible to get a glamour look away from the cute style regardless of what the attacks are going to be like.

I figure this was done so that some kind of Krile-as-pictomancer poster art can be the main visual used during the next advertising blitz (in public places, on billboards, busses and such), rather than the released Dawntrail poster. It would be colorful and draw players to the game, even if such a poster would be misrepresenting the game a bit.
If someone could do some art of Hoary Boulder as pictomancer, that would be something. -
