Jobs Haven’t been as “classic” of late

It’s sad how people dismiss the classic Final Fantasy fans who play this game as the fourteenth installment, rather than just being among the best currently active MMOs. Can’t both camps win? We could have a classic job next expansion, and a brand new one to appease both camps. The blatant disregard to FF fans who play this game is unfortunate.

Why does being a FF fan immediately mean you need to want classic jobs

I know a lot of classic FF fans who are sick of the classic jobs being butchered to fit into 14’s rigid combat system

I'm gonna level with you man: Right now may not be the best time for that. The development team doesn't seem to be entirely sure what direction they want to go in so you could wind up with a Geomancer that uses nunchucks. Cool sounding idea, but one that would have little to do with what you want.

Maybe by next expansion things will have settled. Either way I hope you get your GEO.

Pictomancer certainly is "classic." There's an iconic Final Fantasy character that represents the class. Bravely Default (an IP of SE) recently even used it for a class much like they did with Astrologian; another obscure class at the time.

I won't argue about Sage and certainly not Viper. It's like they wanted some kind of techo-mancer or something and slapped "Sage" on it just because. Reaper seems to have some Necromancer-inspired tidbits the same way Time mage is/was reflected in Astrologian. I mean it's not a Necromancer, but it seems a lot like the devs answer to it because of their stance on actual "pet" classes.

So I'm giving them a 2/4 for the latest jobs being "classic," not 0/4.

I'm fine with them straying from the standard jobs heck there are a lot of cool jobs in spin off titles like Bravely default games had some nice stuff like Arcanist,Vampire, merchant, etc.

I don't mind them creating new jobs or using some of the lesser known ones.

There's still some Tactics A2 jobs that could be used and the Bravely series has some of it's own new ones.

The SB AST quests are literally there, saying "AST is GEO, GEO is AST" and the only difference is the weapon.

We already have GEO.

I mean, yes, but also I feel this comment / idea is disingenuous.

They want Geomancer, the job that we know from other games. Not the Geomancer we can see (we don't even have lol) here. They want Geomancer, do we have Geomancer? No.. we don't. Do they want WHM? No. Do they want AST? No.

So I know its not meant to be disingenuous or obtuse.. but I really have a hard time not feeling it when the given logic is clearly what they want we don't have.

That's like "we have peanut butter at home" and you get home to find expired peanut butter color Philadelphia cream cheese. .. Sure.. Sure we do mate. lol.

By that logic any version of any job that exists in 14 that’s not the version you want (because you want a different games version) can be discounted
