What do you think of crafting with remote desktop apps?

I love using Chrome Remote Desktop. Especially if I am using food. Means If I have to step away to walk my Dog, or use the bathroom, or do laundry, I can use my PC in my hands. (its also helped me start up the game from work and have it ready for when i got home. especially during Endwalker)

I am agreement, it isn't cheating, its not automated. Its just a tool that allows you to use your PC from afar. it would be like saying an external (blue-tooth) mouse/keyboard is cheating cause it allows you to do things from afar. would allow you to do the same thing without being present at your PC.

(while yes CRD can be accessed from anywhere long as your PC is on and connected, point still remains)

As someone who isn't allowed to install games on the PC of my parents.

I use myself the Streaming Mode from Nvidia Moonlight to access my home PC like a cloud computer.

Whoever think it's against TOS to stream your PC to an other device to play it normally has to learn a bit about remote access and cloud computing versus automated actions and botting.

I wish crafting actually required paying attention to get HQ, but I doubt they'll ever go there. The fear of losing casuals is probably gonna prevent that forever.

I remember crafting a helm that needed a separate HQ helmet as a component, the synthesis failed..I lost the helmet that had ALREADY been a pain in the michta to get...I lost my mats AND the helmet which REALLY honked me off.

Any crafter back then hated HW crafting with a vengeance.

Yeah I don't see what's with the macro hate. Some of us write our own. May not be exactly the way the ones that others just copy do it but I can get the same result through my own work so I'm happy. Plus it isn't like macros weren't a thing back in HW.

The only thing that bothers me is how limited macros are now, because they pruned all the interesting crafting skills, people could end up with vastly different macros for the same item until the rework.


I haven't really looked at low level crafting but I imagine it's rather boring now.

Talera, how long did yours take to perfect? I TRIED making a single step macro, finally had to split it into a two parter. Did you also notice that the cp usage between a 3 and 4 star was actually pretty small?

Once I pentamelded, it was more what food to use for that extra control to HQ.

And what benefit will this serve? An increased skill gap that rewards others who "make it their own way"? Nah, people would just read sequenced abilities off their other monitor and manually input them.

Macros boil down to being purely QoL, and that's not the kind of thing you strip from a game you want to be successful.

A decent amount. Don't remember how much but thank the Twelve we have Trial Synthesis. I don't have a single step macro. It's a two parter and I'm fine with that. I didn't notice the exact CP usage but I did notice I didn't have to tweak my 3 star that much for most of it work for 4 star. I was also completely pentamelded already and had even melded more than I needed so I didn't have to change any melds.

I like to copypasta my macros and reuse where I can and then see what specific pieces I need to adjust. But I'm a coder and 99% of our lives is that, lol.

This. Macros in themselves aren't the issue. They're a QoL and you can easily just walk through the craft making one step by step. It's the fact the recipes can be macro'd at all instead of requiring more consistent interactivity. Maybe not for basic stuff but I would have liked to have seen that sort of system for Expert more than just waiting on RNG.
