Lol? No it isn't?
The amount of combat, talking and running involved it's pretty on par with other games. Hell, in most of them you can skip fighting to a degree (and at all in some cases!) if you're playing a stealth class. But no, it's only ff14 that is bad, yeah.
How many mental backflips that take you?

It really isn't on par with other games. You need to go play those other games and stop lying. MSQ is known for how very little combat there is, and how much text reading, cutscenes, and back and forth there is. It's common in each expansion where you'll at times go hours without a single encounter or duty, even speeding through MSQ.
Like sure, over the course of all expansions - There's some good Trials and end-game.. But no, the MSQ and casual gameplay isn't really combat focused unless you're grinding on purpose.
There's really no argument - If you want to sit in denial to impress the sprouts, that's on you.
Tagging us 2 years from now doesn't make you correct about an "official maintenance mode" today. Look up official. Look up maintenance mode. LOL!
Hint: You'll probably still be wrong 2 years from now.
I'm doing you a kindness replying again so you don't have to wait with anticipation for 2 years to tag us.
Adding "Facts" to the terms I recommend you look up.
I agree. But to some this is a good thing. As a huge fan of games like the tell tale series, an RPGMMO is right down my alley. The MSQ of this game felt like an interactive story with occasional multiplayer more than it felt like a "game." It's part of the core of what makes this game successful for me and others like me. "How little combat" there is, as you put it, is a feature not a bug. But I respect that not everyone wants this. I believe those folks would be better served by an MMORPG that caters more to their playstyle. Less story, more combat, more raids more pvp, hmm I can think of many.
Other mmo's are games that you play. FFXIV is unapologetically a world to live in, and Im here for it.
I think that's fine that people just enjoy the MSQ and lore. Unfortunately I think some people (myself included) are getting frustrated that the mid-tier players are getting pushed out, in favor of pure casual MSQ or high-end. There doesn't feel like there's really a middle ground right now. Hoping it's just an Endwalker issue, but class homogenization over the years has made basic dungeons pretty bland to me now.
XIV has evolved in an extremely frustrating way to me personally.
I wouldn't call it maintenance mode though, maybe maintenance prep because of the old expac bot updates. lol
